Even PS1 games can be emulated (poorly, for the record) on a modded 3DS. Its good for fulfilling the desire to game (and like, there is a fairly active homebrew scene on itchio and stuff, so I can play fairly modern games on the GBA). And I take the Game & Watch because it is small and cute and the OG Legend of Zelda is actually one of my favorite pick up and play type of games, like it is basically a fully open world game. That one frame per-second increase is due to how Linux vs Windows calculates Pi. Both OS' use different roundings of Pi which can cause some "issues" for example that extra one frame
The big thing that stopped me from moving to Bazzite full time is that the wifi performance on Linux is so much slower than on Windows, at least on the Ally X. It made a noticeable difference installing games or Moonlight streaming.
@@lucariotrainer16 I think it was a fake claim made by some random person abusing the youtube takedown system. nintendo confirmed that they didn't do anything
In the order of purchase: Switch, Switch lite, 2DS, PS4, PS3, NDS, PS Vita, New 3DS XL, WiiU, Miyoo Mini Plus, Steam Deck. I fell in love with handheld gaming wirh the Switch lite (not modded) and the PS Vita (with CFW). I do most of my gaming today on Steam Deck, and for Nintendo exclusives on the Switch lite.
I don't know about swapping out but moded handhelds run thier games the best since ofc, thats what they were made for lol. I have: - A moded 2ds xl for gba/ds/3ds games, - A moded vita/vitatv for ps1/psp/vita games, anything older then that i just run on anything but, - My go to travel with is the retroid flip, - Steamdeck is my go to for playing through my library at work and otherwise i'm contemplating getting an Odin device to run most things (but mainly ps2/3 and game cube), Finally - The switch with a retrodeck is what i used for those games (though getting a dumper is very tempting until the switch 2 comes out).
bazzite on my 6800u gpd win 4 renewed my love of gaming. the friction that windows offers was just too much most of the time, and put me off all the 30-120 min gaming sessions i used to do. it got to the point that i basically wouldnt play pc games if i wasnt so excited for a game i could sit down and play it for 4+ hours in a sitting. the streamlined and no nonsense approach that steamOS has got me playing all those chill games, or indie games that are well suited to taking a break with, or to play while half watching a tv show. my one negative is that i cant play some of the AAA games i want like jedi survivor or ratchet and clank rift apart. i cant wait until the next gen headhelds start coming out and i can finally get one that fulfills all my high end gaming needs.
I’ve been using the Rg35xxsp it’s great! I also use my Steamdeck, and my Odin 2 I’ve been playing around with. Kind of wish I waited for the Odin 2 mini and got a mini Odin 2 instead, but it is what it is. I also have a 3DS XL me and my bro got but we rarely use it. I wish I had these kind of options as a kid but I’m happy with what I got now. The versatility between the handhelds is so much fun you can do tons of things. I like all the options! I’ve spent more time tinkering than playing these lol. 😬 😂 Great videos as always!
We're not gonna talk about the OneXPlayer guys being like "we don't approve your review so you have to take it down!!!" We're just gonna let them do that?
Having watched the video i only have one question: What handhelds do you actually use? 2 devices that stay in their boxes, 1 handheld that collects dust, 1 handheld that you only use when traveling, one device that you use as a gimmick to stream pc games on twitch and a phone you exclusively play balatro on.
Something worth looking into is syncthing. It's a little bit of a pain to set up, but once you do, your computer literally acts as a giant steam cloud for all your saves. For the devices that support it, that is. Which will be a lot of your handhelds, pc and etc.
Currently saving for a steam deck, the only thing keeping be back is that I’m sure I will stop using my vita and 3Ds. Even though I’ve had loads of fun with those, I know that the deck will be a better device and an amazing emulation machine.
Hey just want to offer you a different perspective. I collect handhelds and I love my Steamdeck but the experience between it and the 3DS and PsVita are not totally comparable. Sometimes I will opt to emulate a game on the 3ds/Vita just because the comfort, pocketability and ease of access (never worry about steam, updates, etc). All them are great consoles regardless! Sometimes you just want to lay in bed and play a GBA game without the thought of oh shit if I drop this console on my face I'm done for lmao.
Honestly if you have those moded then those are better to use for their respective systems rather then emulating them on other things. That said i do have a steamdeck that i dock up to a monitor at work, its just a nice portable steam machine even if you don't use it for it's handheld purpose, highly recommend unless you are an avid AAA player.
Well, the thing about 3DS and Vita is that they can't yet be emulated near perfectly. So for some games, you will want to keep those systems around. The 3DS especially since dual screen setups are harder to replicate in general.
I've got a PC, Steam Deck, Switch, PS Vita, PSP, PSP Go, 3DS, RG35xx-h and Miyoo A30. The A30 goes with me everywhere. PC - power hungry games SD - indies Switch - Persona 5, Tears of the Kingdom The rest of them get occasional use, maybe twice a month.
To be fair in the case of the Odin 2 Portal, it isn't just bigger, but it also has a 120hz OLED screen. An OLED screen is something that I've seen many people requesting for an Odin revision, and the 120Hz would likely help quite a bit with Android games because of the improved response times.
been using switch oled and recently got the nitro deck + for it too because its about the most affordable price i can fetch up from my budget between all the bills and other priorities. I took the switch in the nitro deck+ to overseas trips and i gotta say I enjoyed playing my game on it in hotels or just waiting for the next flight, and so on and so forth. I do have a PC at home but that's nowhere near enough for high end games. Not that I really like graphically pleasing games anyway. It plays WoW on my PC, I'm good with that. When on the move i game on my switch.
@@Moli05do you own both? The windows tablet experience is dreadful and games constantly crash. The steamdeck community is larger, there are more open source projects, and the ability to download controller profiles per game is extremely useful. The ally is also not powerful enough to run like any modern game at 1080p 120 which makes the screen a gimmick.
I mostly play Switch for first-party Nintendo stuff. I also play Steam Deck for pretty much anything else as it is an amazing device! I do also have a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, but it has been collecting a bit of dust...I just vastly prefer the Steam Deck as my "one stop shop" for nearly anything I want to play.
My current rotation is a Steam Deck Classic, a New 3DS XL, a PS Vita, and a GBA Advance SP with an EZ Flash Omega and custom headphone jack install. I try to focus on playing a specific game in one place, so the actual backpack device changes day to day, covering a 30 minute ferry ride in my commute. Lately the Deck has gotten more carry time than anything, because I started Animal Well in the last month. Otherwise I've been playing Driver on my Vita, Zephyr's Pass on the 3DS, and Pokemon Emerald on the SP. The trapped on an island console would have to be the 3DS if I picked one.
I use the original switch, LCD Steam Deck and Miyoo Mini. All slightly different use cases. I love always having the miyoo mini on me just in case there’s any down time wherever I go
I have a few... but I mostly just use my phone with a controller + clip. The screen and performance are way better, and it doesn't make my thumbs hurt. Edit: It's nice actually playing and finishing games instead of spending a ton of time shopping for and setting up devices.
i got a 35XXSP but i just end up using my modded 3ds. i got a used "new" model on the cheaper side by importing it from japan. i got the white one which was never in the states and after having only used old model 3ds systems its just a joy. i adore the ds and 3ds family of systems and i often have no reason to use any other handheld. between that and my pretty beefed pc, im fully covered
Getting emustation set up on my main desktop at home has leveled up me finishing games, I used to barely play any of the hundreds of games I have but now I use Moonlight to stream those games to my ipad, my phone, my laptop, and my CHROMECAST! and its become a night and day difference for getting me to actually pick up a controller and just play, it took me like 50 hours to set up emustation with the emulators that weren't already in it, remove games that I had downloaded from packs that i would never play and to download games that i just wanted to flesh out my library a bit more as well as scraping all the cover arts, but now its my go to way to play games on the go and at home, as long as i have good wifi or data conneciton
I go back and forth between my PS Vita and RG35XX Plus -- the form factor of the 35XX is just so perfect for GB and GBC games, but anything beyond that, especially if it needs shoulder buttons, the Vita is much better. And then of course PS1, PSP and Vita games. muOS on the 35XX was a huge improvement over both stock and Knulli as well
I absolutely love rg 350m it looks cool and I’m only using it for playing my PS one games on the go and it does the job sadly nobody is talking about it anymore but that’s how it goes with these handhelds Great video once again keep it up🤘😎
I bought a Steam Deck LCD 64gb because I wasn't certain I'd like the handheld gaming experience and so far I really love it but, I want to do some upgrades like a bigger SSD. Now, I really have, thanks to 300+ hours of gameplay of a certain PS5 port (Death Stranding: Director's Cut), begun to like the form factor and size. What I'd like to do, is get a second Steam Deck, put a 2tb SSD in it and, install Windows 11 so I can play another game Escape from Tarkov on a handheld and have a small portable PC with an operating environment I am more accustomed to using. Thoughts? Hints? Allegations? Things left unsaid?
This year I bought my first emulator, the Trimui Smart Pro. It's a good first start but I wish I had more power to play some more modern titles with ease.
Rather surprised a steamdeck doesn't end up on the nightstand, but if you never play games for which the trackpads are if not essential than massively beneficial in that location anyway... For myself ever since playing with a Steamcontroller I've never been able to go back, sticks have their place but the flexibility of trackpads is so great and once you have gotten used to them you actively miss the precision you get with them.
RTX 3060 was a pretty decent card for a decent price, no surprise it is among the most popular ones. What's really crazy is that 1.02% is RXT 4090. 1.02% means that probably around 2 to 4 million super high-end 4090s are in use on Steam alone.
I had to switch to ROG Ally after my steam deck bit the big one. Brazzite is super good and I have been using it for the past few weeks now. It is an overall good experience since I dont use my Ally for any games that are multiplayer focused.
Btw use the Qualcomm 777 driver on Odin 2 for EOW. Helps performance dramatically I'm playing 1080p docked at full speed in *most* places (runs especially well in dungeons) Cubeb audio to fix any audio stuttering. Some flickering of trees but only in certain areas on the map
been loving my steam deck OLED, waiting for my RP5 to ship in 2 weeks so i can have an android gaming device that isnt being bombarded with discord DMs and text messages. i was thinking about the Odin 2, but it was kinda big and the RP5 seems perfect (smaller, cheaper, almost as powerful)
My dream PC handheld would be the size of a PSP, can emulate PS2 games and play PC games at low to medium. Extra point for clamshell design but it seems the tech is not there yet. So I'll just settle with an Android handheld like the Retroid Pocket Mini.
Thanks to you, the Steamdeck, and the poor choices Microsoft has made I have successfully cut Microsoft out of my life. The steamdeck showed me that gaming on Linux is very doable these days, you showed me things like Bazzite exists to be able to turn a PC into a console, and Microsoft has a very long list of bad life choices. Sold my Xbox and Switch to help the parts needed to build a new 2nd rig for my couch gaming that runs Bazzite while my main rig runs Nobara. I don't regret dropping Microsoft one bit. Though in terms of handhelds the only thing I play around with right now is the Gameboy Color I built using FunnyPlaying's kit. It was nice having a kit that didn't require soldering to put together. But once again, thank you Bob for me showing me there's a brighter light away from Microsoft.
Steam OLED. I just got rid of my rg35xx h, gave it to my nephews. Replacing with retroid pocket 5 (wife has the mini and loves it). Would love an sp, maybe down the road for cheap or if they make an even better one. My most recent retro game has been Wario Land on virtual boy. Looks really nice on an OLED
I was really excited for the 35XXSP, sadly I haven't gamed on it much since the A button began to recess for some reason. I also find the d-pad to be just a little too stiff for the games I like to play on it (Sonic, Tetris, Metroid). I'm actually getting a lot more playtime out of my TrimUI Smart, the D-Pad is perfect and I love the shoulder buttons.
For me, it's it's just been my vita and 3ds which are both modded and my old s20fe w/ a gamesir g8 controller. The s20fe specifically is the reason I haven't gotten something like an odin 2 yet, although the phone does get hot so it's not a perfect experience. I don't play pc games enough to warrant buying a steam deck yet and mostly just play emulators. But the emulators I do play on pc(mostly pcsx2 and dolphin) I prefer using their actual controller, so the desktop experience is still in my needs for that. I mostly play my 3ds when i'm out, like getting car stuff done. When I'm at home, it's my 3ds and knocking out a couple levels of whatever I'm playing.
I'll be honest, using the portal was absolutely painful until I changed my wifi router system. Now it's buttery smooth (when connected to the PS5 that's hard wired to the modem)
I had the same with my Anbernic rg35xx. I fixed it by holding the reset button, or the power button or holding one of these while clicking all the other buttons. Sorry, one of them did the trick, I couldn't reproduce it. I think the reason it didn't want to boot again bc I booted it without an sdcard.
I mostly play on my PS Portal (when plugged into your router directly it works great. It doesn't work good on mesh at all), and me 2ds xl. I still play on my Miyoo from time to time, and in probably going to do a playthrough of FF8 on it soon.
Yeah out of my 7 or 8 anbernic devices it is my 353vs where the screen has a lot of bleeding so instead of trying to fix it or replace it I use only for gameboy and its nice that it forces me to play gameboy when I have too many options.
Curious to hear why you don't prefer to use your PS5 in general, since I know you have mentioned it on the podcast. I'm one of those people who wasn't able to afford one until this year and I'm honestly loving it.
I use a V1 switch for retrogames and a oled for switch games. I don't need more power, I need more time to play. Being a responsible adult is just boring.
since i'm broke & i watch these videos to live precariously. my hardware of Choice still is an OG Nintendo Switch with HAL effect modded JoyCons so i can actually play on the sucker; & my PC that's pretty much just a HoloCure machine, i tried Vampire Survivors but is hard to go back to No aiming
An FYI for your ad: The FCC prohibits unauthorized use of Emergency Alert System (EAS) tones, including in RUclips videos, to prevent public confusion. Violations can result in substantial fines, as seen with ESPN’s $146,976 penalty in 2024. Content creators should avoid using EAS tones without explicit authorization to comply with regulations.
Bob, is your PS5 ethernet plugged directly into the modem? Not the router but the actual modem. If not, try it. You'll find a significant improvement to a great experience. If so, then idk man. I'm visiting my parents in Scottsdale, my PS5 is in LA and I'm having an amazing experience
I love playing on my main pc. But love the haptics on steam deck(og) rog ally is a better performer but it’s always a challenge. I really like the minis forum v3. The tablets thin and easy to fit in my brief case and doesn’t look to gamerish - like my gigabyte aorus(4070) while when I want to chill in bed it doesn’t disturb the wife. Even with my onexegpu on turbo. 1 draw back is getting my custom built egpu to accept Nvidia cards not code 43. I truly feel the minisforum with the 1600p display is a great portable gaming power house. It’s like the switch. Hook it up to the dock and premium setting. On the go 780m works great for most games.
Nice topic though. I don't have half as many handhelds as you but I still struggle to find time to use all the ones I have. From a Miyoo Mini (v2 and +), to a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, a RG35XXSP and a Steam Deck OLED, it's just too much lol
Man i was on the switch emulation bandwagon, but i got off when i realised that jumping all those hoops just for a game to have graphics errors and crash frequently on a high end pc was just not worth it, compared to the switch that'll have a few hiccups in fps but thats about it, until they release the new console i.e.

Are you sure that RG35XX Plus you were waving around is actually a plus? It looks like the original RG35XX model to me (the bezels on the screen, no battery compartment) Needs Garlic OS maybe
Since I got my OG Ally and threw Bazzite on it, my Ayn Odin Pro doesn't see any action aside from being used for Meshtastic comms and my gaming desktop (also running linux) is for any games that are more KB+M based or are too much for my Ally to run.
All I use is my Ally Z1E and now looking into modding my switch. I tried bazzite but I just love the versatility on windows. If I y it had quick resume like steam os...

The big thing that stopped me from moving to Bazzite full time is that the wifi performance on Linux is so much slower than on Windows, at least on the Ally X. It made a noticeable difference installing games or Moonlight streaming.
The massive balls to show a Nintendo game running on an emulator. hope it doesn't get taken down!
Yeab guess he knows something the rest of us don't , for example that nintendo's legal team ultimate is on cooldown
@@Anon20855 iirc it wasnt because it was a game running on an emulator it was something else
@@lucariotrainer16 I think it was a fake claim made by some random person abusing the youtube takedown system. nintendo confirmed that they didn't do anything
The massive balls
using emulator is not illigal. as long u own the real game copy.
In the order of purchase:
Switch, Switch lite, 2DS, PS4, PS3, NDS, PS Vita, New 3DS XL, WiiU, Miyoo Mini Plus, Steam Deck.
I have:
- A moded 2ds xl for gba/ds/3ds games,
- A moded vita/vitatv for ps1/psp/vita games, anything older then that i just run on anything but,
- My go to travel with is the retroid flip,
- Steamdeck is my go to for playing through my library at work and otherwise i'm contemplating getting an Odin device to run most things (but mainly ps2/3 and game cube), Finally
- The switch with a retrodeck is what i used for those games (though getting a dumper is very tempting until the switch 2 comes out).
bazzite on my 6800u gpd win 4 renewed my love of gaming. the friction that windows offers was just too much most of the time, and put me off all the 30-120 min gaming sessions i used to do. it got to the point that i basically wouldnt play pc games if i wasnt so excited for a game i could sit down and play it for 4+ hours in a sitting. the streamlined and no nonsense approach that steamOS has got me playing all those chill games, or indie games that are well suited to taking a break with, or to play while half watching a tv show. my one negative is that i cant play some of the AAA games i want like jedi survivor or ratchet and clank rift apart. i cant wait until the next gen headhelds start coming out and i can finally get one that fulfills all my high end gaming needs.
The OneX Fly F1 pro was just announced and it seems a really strong candidate, we’ll just have to wait and see the price
Watching this 7 seconds after release.. nice
'i'll just pretend that I'm British' 😂
anbernic bites... they shipped mine with a faulty screen... I love your video's so much. Your podcast is awesome.
We're not gonna talk about the OneXPlayer guys being like "we don't approve your review so you have to take it down!!!"
We're just gonna let them do that?
Watching your reviews convinced me to get an oled steamdeck. I’m loving baldurs gate on it 🔥😂
Having watched the video i only have one question:
What handhelds do you actually use?
That said i do have a steamdeck that i dock up to a monitor at work, its just a nice portable steam machine even if you don't use it for it's handheld purpose, highly recommend unless you are an avid AAA player.
i rotate my steam deck, switch OLED, PSP GO, Moded IPS GBA . i like the steam deck but its not always the most portable feeling device out there.
Well, the thing about 3DS and Vita is that they can't yet be emulated near perfectly. So for some games, you will want to keep those systems around. The 3DS especially since dual screen setups are harder to replicate in general.
That shall not be named was very subtle but very needed nice job❤
I've got a PC, Steam Deck, Switch, PS Vita, PSP, PSP Go, 3DS, RG35xx-h and Miyoo A30.
The A30 goes with me everywhere.
PC - power hungry games
SD - indies
Switch - Persona 5, Tears of the Kingdom
The rest of them get occasional use, maybe twice a month.
The only thing more terrifying than serial killers and dying alone is not knowing what to play and on what device.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃 👻
When on the move i game on my switch.
i found the beginning very funny 0:12 bobby tapping the bell icon to tell viewers to hit the bell icon :D
Steam deck is lowkey the best handheld
nah, windows sucks on it and it's less powerful than the rog ally. honestly it's only good if you only play steam games and ur on a budget
@@Moli05 Yep. it's the Ally X for poor people
Nah, it’s great because it isn’t windows. I love picking it up for an hour or two
A steam deck mini would be perfect. It's a handheld but just for the sake of it. It's size is a mini laptop
My Steam Deck is attached to my hand like a kid with an iPad when I'm at home and I love it.
1. PC
2. Switch Lite
3. I would have easily added that "Psp" lookalike if had the chance!

What's really crazy is that 1.02% is RXT 4090. 1.02% means that probably around 2 to 4 million super high-end 4090s are in use on Steam alone.
it was way too expensive when it came out. amd getting better since the 6th gen
Helps performance dramatically
I'm playing 1080p docked at full speed in *most* places (runs especially well in dungeons)
Cubeb audio to fix any audio stuttering.
Some flickering of trees but only in certain areas on the map
been loving my steam deck OLED, waiting for my RP5 to ship in 2 weeks so i can have an android gaming device that isnt being bombarded with discord DMs and text messages. i was thinking about the Odin 2, but it was kinda big and the RP5 seems perfect (smaller, cheaper, almost as powerful)
my current regulars are pc, steam deck lcd, and new 2ds xl :)
Man I love the Bob Cinematic Universe. I want an avengers style team up of all the Bobs
I literally bought chips challenge on switch because of your last video. Gonna speedrun it with your controller when it’s available
"And it runs great, only around 50 frames per second at 1080p but that's okay I'll just pretend that I'm british" 🤣
Love my Odin 2
This is why I am a fan... If the device is dope, it is dope... and if the company is not dope, they are done all things staying the same.
I'll be honest, using the portal was absolutely painful until I changed my wifi router system. Now it's buttery smooth (when connected to the PS5 that's hard wired to the modem)
Couldn't remember what graphics card I have currently...checked...3060. Guess you're right!
My 35xx messed up too. It the first one not plus. It gets stuck in a boot loop. Sometime it’ll come on , sometimes it don’t.
I use my Nintendo Switch for exclusive titles and my Steam Deck for everything else I want to play portably or emulate.
Hope you make a million soon.
I'm one of those people who wasn't able to afford one until this year and I'm honestly loving it.
prolly because he has a PC. but yeah the ps5 is really great. not as good as past generations but there's nothing wrong with it
I use a V1 switch for retrogames and a oled for switch games.
Sounding like a broken record but I can not wait for the miyoo mini flip to come out. I just want a sp style mini handheld with onion os.
Hi Bob it’s me your 58th biggest fan
Man the never ending backlog is just normal these days. It's Soo hard to get time to finish a game
I use the steam deck LCD on my TV. and the SP.
What happened to blurring Nintendo Games ?
Nintendo was never issuing youtube strikes to begin with. It was fanboys pretending to be nintendo.
There are a couple of Turnip drivers that let you upscale Echos and another mod that fixes the image issue you are having on the Odin 2
Nice topic though. I don't have half as many handhelds as you but I still struggle to find time to use all the ones I have. From a Miyoo Mini (v2 and +), to a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, a RG35XXSP and a Steam Deck OLED, it's just too much lol
im sorry but the dust coats on all the devices is driving me insane nice video though as usual man
I felt seen during the Balatro mention (Balatro is currently on my other screen)
Refreshed my feed to be blessed by a new Bob video
Man i was on the switch emulation bandwagon, but i got off when i realised that jumping all those hoops just for a game to have graphics errors and crash frequently on a high end pc was just not worth it, compared to the switch that'll have a few hiccups in fps but thats about it, until they release the new console i.e.
I’m doing replays of childhood pokemon gameboy Color games on my phone ITS PERFECT!! Feels just like having your gameboy with you I only miss the feeling of real button
Oh and hey, I mapped the action button to start the Delta app so it’s just like turning your gameboy on 🤩
8:15 Okay I don't need to be called out like this because same 😂
Anbernic 35xx whatever still is my EDC. As long as I get PSX and SNES I'm good. I did help my local bartender unbrick his device resulting in free beers.
I’ve beat so many bosses in Elden Ring on the ps portal. Can’t see how it’s giving you lag enough to not play Astro Bot
Are you sure that RG35XX Plus you were waving around is actually a plus? It looks like the original RG35XX model to me (the bezels on the screen, no battery compartment)
Needs Garlic OS maybe
I am constantly coming back to my RG35XX H. Like, constantly.
Honestly, the difference between Linux and Windows on my handheld is a significant fps boost at similar power levels😊
Any PC game you get with FPS 42+ is a W. 42 is the minimum for my eyes to tell a great difference from 30.
Wolf how much did you pay for your LE deck? I have scalpers all around me. More than likely going to obtain a prestine used specimen. I don't see valve making new colorways anytime soon.
Uzuy/citron has an experimental windows version and has a Linux version in the works
35xx SP GOAT. It goes in the pocket? It gets game time.
Oh wow. Since when were u almost at 1M subs 🤯
