  • Baxter talks through why you might be surprised by how much fun you can have with one of these little headphone amps. If you have a new baby, you travel, maybe a small apartment, this little under 100 headphone amp might be the best 100 dollars you can spend. Baxter breaks it down for ya with some great samples of the tones at the end!

Reminds of my Rockman I had back in the 80's. Was great to use when I was in the Navy living on a ship. Looks like Fender took that concept to the next level.

I did the same. Living in Key West and working offshore on a treasure hunting boat (Mel Fisher) and I would play thru my Rockman every night. 1986... Then we found $500,000 worth of treasure and I didn't have quite as much time🥴

no one complained about the Rockman not being fully editable which seems to be the micro Mustang's biggest drawback but the sounds are top notch for a modeler

It's a very useful gadget in my opinion. Not a gimmick nor garbage. Quiet practice at home, or even for testing a new guitar in store (with your own familiar micro amp/phones), and of course the usb output for recording. Other similar devices have more options (App interface/versatility), but the micro meets my needs for a simple plug and play headphone amp. Owning a Fender Tube Amp (no headphone output), I was drawn to this device, sure enough the clean Fender Amp models are nice enough. Good choice of effects (Spring Reverb is a must for a Fender player 😁). I have not played my tube amp for a week, quiet practice through the Fender Micro, playing along to backing tracks coming in via Bluetooth 👍. My favourite driven amp model when playing my Les Paul is the BassBreaker 15. Not clear from the manual, but it does remember your last settings between power ups (amp/effect). After it's first full charge, it's lasted 6hr 27mins played most evenings during the week. That was feeding into my full size headphones* and streaming in backing tracks via Bluetooth. The volume on the micro was set about halfway, so it surpassed the 6hr that Fender claim for use at low volume.
*Bayerdynamic DT-250 (80 Ohm). Expensive now, but have had them over 20 years.

I was using a small Laney praictice amp that was great for the size but unlike a full sized amp that stays out all of the time it requred quite a bit of set up. I am a lefty so I had to rig it up a little differently inorder to be able to see the controls when I put it in my stratocaster. I built a leather case that holds int on the body side of my strat and got a small extension cable that runs to the guitar. The headphone cable runs up the length of my strap and I can plug in my studio headphones without having too much slack. It makes the set up for practice so much easier. I love this little thing thing.

Having heard it all prepared to hate it I was instantly humbled. It is virtually the 21st century Rockman.
it's incredibly small size and recharge function is the icing on the perfect cake. The thing is with similar products they have no more than a handful of options and do not sound better. Add to that better things are 3 or more times the price and because they are not pro either they are a very, very expensive toys. In short they are the best value for money and if you do have a Pro rig they are the perfect choice for a practice amp.

When I was looking for a quiet way to practice I was using a PockRock (great for the price) but I wanted something more once a few of these plugs hit the market. It came down to the NuX and the Marshall Mirco and the NuX just had more and better features, and a better price. Even found some other amp apps that work with it. It's got an app, so no crib card and trying to remember what setting you like, and how many clicks. It was really hard to say "No" to the Marshall, though. I mean it's MARSHALL, ya' know?

Fender made one mistake with this micro amp, if you are a left hand player, the controls are on the wrong edge, and face away from you.
Luckily i am right handed, but my friend isn't, so to keep him happy i swaped his for some of my Vox ones, we are both now happy.
If you are a left handed player, you might want to try some other micro amps.

But I am thinking about getting a short cable with a male and female end so that the controls can be extended out maybe a foot from the body of the guitar. I think it would make it a bit easier to change settings and would also solve the lefty issue. The mar end will be 90 degrees and into the guitar and the mico male end will plug into the female end. Just a thought
