The first VOG team didn't even really know eachother and they tried to 3 man it. One quit, another got lost in Gorgon maze, and another tried to solo it. The lore is literally just LFG lol.

They didn’t come to mind during the raid because it’s not there. It’s elsewhere, outside of the game. My friend, the lore is so cool and greatly misused in this game. They stepped it up with D2 having an in game Codex but still.
In terms of atmosphere, this is definitely my favourite raid. To delve into the daunting, gaping pit feels like leaping into nothingness. You seem to feel your sense of being slip away, and the crushing reality of what you face sinks in. You are alone. Even with a fireteam, you can't help but feel isolated from one another. The very darkness coils around you and constricts your light. Swarms of thrall await in the shadows. This is their domain. This place is shaped to despise your existence. This is the feeling that raids should have- delving deep into hostile territory accompanied by the constant presence of danger.

From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

The few guardians who even tempted Darkness were quickly driven mad, ex:Dredgen Yor and the Shadows of Yor(for those of you who don't know, the Shadows of Yor followed similar ideologies to the Dredgen's, and thus fell to the same insanity that he did. And regardless, a "Darkness guardian" wouldn't be a Guardian any more, they'd be something else entirely. So no, I don't personally believe that in destiny 3, along with the Light-based Arc Solar and Void subclasses, there will be Darkness-based counterparts.
It IS the story we played through leading up to crotas end, it's the backstory of the raid mechanics so unless you want there to be constant exposition voiceover every single time you do the raid then it has to stay in the backstory Unless you mean the first part but that happened 100+ years before we were even revived at the start of the game

Having gotten back on Destiny 2 to play Beyond Light, I really appreciate Byf’s videos giving context to Destiny’s universe while catching people up on the story.
Riley Frisk Indeed. Personally I doubt the majority of players read the lore from the cards. Too bad really. I think it ought to have been presented in-game for simplified access. Byf does amazing job though into a neat package of a good storytelling.

While we all want the story presented better in game, would we have the lore community we do if it were? Having the lore distributed throughout the grimoire cards seems to have acted almost like a challenge to the community.

Plop the lore in a Mass Effect-style Codex or an entire wing of the Tower a la the Archives in the Jedi Temple in Star Wars. Either one would work for me.

Also, it's the second time we fight a Hive god on their terms. We kill Hive like Hive. That's the entirety of King's Fall, rising through the Hive ranks to prove ourselves worthy of taking Oryx's crown. We were no better than the festering wretches we slaughtered to get there

The Crux of Crota is obtained simply by completing Crota's End on hard mode. You do not need the Glowhoo shader equipped, but you do need to own it on one of your characters. Fun Fact: In King's Fall, we were never supposed to fight Golgoroth. We found the cellar by complete accident, and that was the only reason we were able to kill Oryx.
Also, it's the second time we fight a Hive god on their terms. We kill Hive like Hive. That's the entirety of King's Fall, rising through the Hive ranks to prove ourselves worthy of taking Oryx's crown. We were no better than the festering wretches we slaughtered to get there

Shoutout to everyone who still can't get the Crux of Crota to drop. I feel your pain.
The Crux of Crota is obtained simply by completing Crota's End on hard mode. You do not need the Glowhoo shader equipped, but you do need to own it on one of your characters. If you're completing hard mode, you most likely already have this shader, so you shouldn't need to worry about this.Jan 25, 2015 there ya go friend
