he probably didnt catch him. Ive been through that (amazing) raid so many times on HM and have still yet to see for myself, Randall himself. and as a side note, whenever i'm not the 1st one in that room from the fall, i always ask my fireteam if they can spot him. and i usually get a responce that always baffles me: "who's randall the vandal?"
Even well over five years later this is my favorite destiny raid by both atmosphere and gameplay. Something about the dark siva facilities is cool in my opinion
My favorite visual is when you go to Aksis’s boss room and you see this giant siva node in this huge dark room so godamn cool. Way more intimidating than the pyramid ships from d2 lol.
Despite Aksis gone, i don't think the splicers are giving up, they have lost so many leaders over time, they have probably gotten used to it, right now, they are probably like, "Aksis? Gone. Boo-hoo, who will take his place? next?"
Arlan Abenojar "Its the second hour in the tomato isle, the repugnant cold stare beams back at me. A face of regret? No. A face of pity, realising its my reflection in said tomato I swiftly turn back, there on to me"
On the subject of what's controlling SIVA, perhaps it's something far simpler and far more sinister than most theories might believe: It's self-aware, eating away at the minds of its hosts and slowly forming its own consciousness, like Corvus was in Black Ops 3.
Battle Rifle Yes, COD has a story that isn't just shoot stuff in the face. Also, you're complaining about a game series not having a story on a DESTINY video.
Jacob Kern COD's story at this point is the most cliched and cringiest experience I've even went through. It pretends to be more then "shoot stuff in the face", but the effort put there is laughably pathetic. And yeah, you got me on the second part there. GG.
James Day Destiny's lore is the "most extensive ever" because they don't bother putting 1/2 of a story into their games and would much rather put them into cards.
Piano Manplayer I never mentioned fists look up the definition of melee. And also it's said they grappled for hours so there would have been a lot more attacks than just one headbutt
No not really the only true story was them both eventually losing their weapons and as solkis was picking saint -14 up and crushing him, saint-14 caved the kells' skull in with a headbutt.
What if in hard mode, after you kill Aksis, Bungie adds another boss. One we haven't seen or heard of yet that is the real mind behind Siva. That would probably be the slickest move Bungie has pulled yet.
I think what the cryptarc meant by "you're not done with siva yet" is that you destroyed the production of siva but there is still siva out in the cosmodrome. After all you only destroyed the PRODUCTION of siva not all of siva itself.
I just thought of an encounter perfect for the hard mode- in hard raid, after we defeat Aksis again, a path opens up behind his alter. When we follow this path we are lead to a room completely entangled in siva. In this room is the revived Devil Kell, but he isn't alone. In the room with him, hanging from the roof are the remaining Iron Lords, long dead and siva infused (Remember there are 4 more). In order to defeat the kell, we must defeat captains and kill servitors to get the siva charges to lower his shield. However after his shield drops, we must defeat one of the siva Iron Lords to reclaim his axe. Like Crota, only the axe can do damage to the Kell. However there is a twist, after the Iron Lord is defeated, the Kell is surrounded by a siva swarm. One guardian is empowered, allowing him/her to enter the siva swarm without taking damage. If the guardian is unable to deal damage or is killed while empowered, the Kell will deem you unworthy and kill your entire fireteam. I feel this encounter would be amazing to have in the raid. Not only would it be challenging, but would put to rest the story of the Iron Lords.
Seeing as SIVA is a self replicating "nanomachines son", I see no reason not to believe it could generate a hive mind of it's own. Either just through the mass of SIVA entities creates a consciousness or an actual physical computer mind is built by it. Or perhaps a different theory is the more of yourself you replace with SIVA, the more like it you become. Not just in body but in mind as well. SIVA's prime directive is to "consume enhance replicate", that is it's sole drive. By the looks of the grimoire card, this constant message is playing in the back of Aksis's mind, to the point where he's replaced so much of himself with SIVA that he questions whether his mind is even his own. Which if he's replaced any of his thinking matter with SIVA he's probably right. If left to his own devices, I imagine Aksis would incorporate so much SIVA into himself that there would be no Aksis left, no skin no skeleton no bone, and no mind. Completely "consumed" by SIVA. What would a brain be completely replaced by SIVA? Just a lump of SIVA, and if that is all that is left as the thinking matter of this creature, then it will only have one directive. Consume Enhance Replicate
Nothing quite like listening to some lore while doing Homework. This was my first lore video from you surprisingly and I loved it. Can't wait for more and I am excited to look back at previous videos Byf.
That was beyond intense and thought-provoking. I'm quite interested to see what hard mode brings next week. You did a fantastic job and I cannot get enough of these videos
Very small chance of you reading this, but your narrative is enthralling. I watched this video just because it was there. I will now go and watch the other raid videos, for your brilliiant storytelling skills. My single sub may not be much, but you have it.
All the details that Byf here has gone into so much work to put together, is what we should have in the raid in some sort of narrative. If we don't go into the grimoire, we don't find out the purpose for any of the actions we do or the bosses we fight and their reasons for being. Thanks for putting this together Byf
Yet another reason why this raid just FEELS so much like Vault of Glass. "Guys! the Vex are up to no good! Go do something about it!" or some such nondescript reasoning for going in. Also, getting to Atheon AND getting to Aksis both got the same reaction out of me: "wait, who is this guy?"
Aksis: stupid random archon transformed to SIVA and blessed with >10,000,000 health. Atheon: big ass Minotaur, who is also annoying with the projectiles on hard

Missed out on this bc I was sick of Destiny around Taken King but I have to say that this raid had the best looking armor and coolest looking raid boss in all of D1 and D2.
So Byf, I've looked around grimoire having to do with Exos and there always seems to have some kind of reference of something else talking. I've theorized about another consciousness in control myself. I especially looked into Exos becauss the Clovis Bray facility on Mars specializes in Exo science, and since we connected Clovis Bray to the Warmind network, it would make sense that the SIVA has just come awake now instead of sooner. We accredit the fallen for finding the SIVA, but what if the SIVA found them, and was using them
That’s a pretty good theory, I do have a question though. Is it possible that this SIVA outbreak could be caused by a certain project failure in the Clovis Bray Corporation?
@@varikstheloyal4875 damn, I totally forgot about this comment from 4 years ago lol. So this is pretty outdated speculation on my part, I believe that what we know about SIVA is that it was something utilized by Rasputin for self defense, and that it doesn’t have a “mind of its own” that found the fallen

I love the theme of this dlc. The idea of a living machine that grows and spreads on its own is awesome and the way it has red veins and black diamond/pyramids is just so aesthetically pleasing. Plus the gear looks really good(especially upgraded weapons), I just wish the raid was harder... The raid gear in King's fall and crota's end was pretty shit in my opinion.
I mean, we can kind of see it in the normal game. For instance, the Vex took over Mercury in hours. Look at the Burning Shrine and Vertigo, and especially their backgrounds. As for the Cabal, look around on Mars. The Hive, we saw how far they ate away at the Moon, even to the point of making a portal to the Ascendant Plane for Crota. As for the Fallen, look at the current state of the Cosmodrome.
I still haven't done the raid. However it did not spoil the raid for me. On the contrary. I t has excited me. It has peaked my interest on the raid all the more. Now I must experience it for myself. Keep up the good work.
Man I miss destiny 1…. It was such a perfect game, I really do wish destiny too was basically an add on or the whole game just came out in DLCs so we could have all our gear and raids and missions…
that sounded so much cooler than the raid. like the final mission of the campaign the first time you play it awesome. or the mission to get the gjallarhorn. or even when you get the new subclass in TTK.
3:00 Motives and leaders of the House of Devils Splicers Siva Fallen. 15:20 The end of Aksis, Archon Prime, imo the last true leader of the House of Devils vefore it was dismantled. 16:20 IS THAT A NORMAL UN-AUGMENTED CAPTAIN IN A SIGA BASE!?!
ROI was my favorite year of Destiny. I just love siva and the fallen so damn much. It was the penultimate expansion theme for me that has yet to be topped. Hello from destiny 2 season of the worthy.
Watching this from D2, when we’ve seen the Exodus Black on Nessus. Not only did it carry colonists to settle on Nessus, but also some SIVA to help create a place for them. Furthermore, I’m almost entirely sure that the boss from the end of the Exodus Crash strike (the one where you clean the Fallen base from Failsafe’s ship) can be seen wearing the colors of the House of Devils, not Dusk
I have heard from some of my friends that with the reveal of Aksis's call to the Houses to come forth and unite, most are led to believe that House Kings has been pulling the strings. If you look at the facts of the matter it is totally plausible. 1. Variks states that a House with no Kell or Prime or Archon begins to fall to infighting, which is why Skolas goes after House Kings to dismantle their leadership to take it over. 2. House Kings is the only House left with a Kell and as far as we know a Prime and even an Archon to help organize the House. 3. House Kings is in charge of the Rocketyards where the Splicers have breached the Wall into the Plaguelands, this is stated when we take out the House Barons in King's Watch which is literally right next to the Rocketyards. Since the Fallen are all about the territory they control it is highly unlikely that House Kings, the most brutal and ruthless House we have encountered, would allow a broken House like House Devils to encroach into their territory without some kind of resistance..unless they absorbed the Devils and realized that they are the most likely puppets to test out this new tech they have heard of. 4. Like the SIVA Memories suggest, Aksis did not make this choice on his own. What if the agreement for Aksis to be a Machine God was to allow House Kings to control House Devils and any other Fallen House that should be seduced by the promise of godhood? What if House Kings has finally began their campaign against the Last City by using the weaker and more expendable Houses in place of their own elite troops? All this is of course speculation and assumptions from what we have been told by Shiro, Variks, the Grimoire, and even Aksis himself. But you have to admit House Kings is the last House standing that has the most to gain from assimilating other Houses and the only House left that has the leadership required to organize a wide scale campaign like this. The only House that refuses to join the SIVA calling is House Exile for the simple fact that they are outcasts and rebels among the Fallen and are least likely to accept returning to the Houses that treated them cruelly and unfairly with hopes that they won't have the same happen to them again...or worse be part of the twisted prototype experiments that led to the creation of Kovik's Monster and such as a form of punishment for their dissension from the Houses.
Well there are House of Kings banners in the Archon's Forge so you are probably right about the Kings using the Devils as puppets or even a target for the city, I mean who sounds more dangerous a King or the fucking Devil?
"And it only takes a second, For it to break through."

And so it was documented that the guardian known as Byf, dealt the final blow to Aksis... by slamming him, with arc.
