Until you spend the type of money to buy an 1815 Chrono or above, I would recommend to buy a simple Lange 1. As you say, it is Lange’s OG… A modern icon! That being said, there are numerous great Langes that are a great second pick. 🙈

I love Lange. Their watches are stunning but I think two of my favorite things are 1) obviously the movement finishing 2) their watches are made to be used. They provide safety mechanisms, their minute repeater has some water resistance, etc. They aren’t meant to be thrown in a safe or only worn at a specific event. They’re meant to be worn.
I love my white gold Richard Lange. The perfect dress watch.

I've been looking at a pink gold Lange 1 and a Lange 1 Moonphase to join my WG 1815 Up Down. Love the look of the moon phase sundial, but the fumes on the main dial and the hands just put me off for some reason. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the pink gold L1 this week. Watching this video helped seal the deal for me. Thanks for the great content!

lange 1 with guilloche dial - like the gold or silver ones, or navy blue, from the past - but primarily like 1815 up/down for the balance of look and function.

I just bought the Lange 1 moon phase 192.032 before the price increase.
I was debating between moon phase or without. In person the blue of the day night indicator just pops and is so beautiful.
Both are amazing watches though.

The grey dial is very nice but I’m not a fan of the grand Lange 1. The 38.5mm is the perfect size in my opinion and for my wrist.

It was good seeing you too bud and looking forward to meeting again, my side of the world next time. The ODYSSEUS in white gold is next and in the list, the still is out of question and again I prefer precious metals. That said, the Lange 1 is a beast of a watch, quality and aesthetics
A Lange is one of my holy trinity of watches. I'm not a fan of watch designs with the main time indicator reduced to a subdial, which basically means the actual dial of time telling is small to make way for other subdials. I'm a fan of the ALS Odysseus where all the indicators have symmetrical design.
I know what you mean Christopher, to come think about it, I think I also much prefer a symmetrical legible dial

Firstly congratulations bro. Sick watch. Been collecting what seems an age. Just like you, it was the sports and hype watches, now as I am older, all my newer additions have been dress watches. I find them more interesting, rare and much more beautiful. PP, VC and A lange dress watches in my opinion are the best, my collection from now on will be heavily focused in on these 3 brands. Beautiful addition to your collection, now let's go for the 1815 flyback chrono!!
Richard bro, thank you and well said. The hyped ones get boring and often ask myself why did I get’em to begin with. The only sport watch outside of VC, Lange and Patek that actually wear is the Daytona. Steel and sport watches are great however not sure if I am getting older or what but somehow appreciating classic watches, precious metals specifically over steel. 1815 fly back chrono in black day on pink gold is really nice, thickness of 11mm is also doable. I am yet to see one in person.
@@WatchSociety I am the same. The only sports watch I wear now is the daytona and the overseas. I will eventually sell all the other sport watches in the collection. Funny, how this hobby changes in time. I have got into independents in the last few years. I have thing for rose gold, so working towards the PP 5205 green dial and the lange 1815 flyback chrono in rose. Congratulations again on your purchase. Its definitely a keeper!!
The level of finishing on a Lange is the same for all of its watches. The same is not true for other high horology brands. Nice watch!!

That is so good to hear, I find the straps super comfortable too, how do they holdup? I bought an additional strap with a clasp just incase this one gives up
@@WatchSociety The quality of the straps is good… They last for quite a while. However, alligator does not last forever. Sometimes you get new Lange straps on Ebay for a good price.
Your Lange 1 is my grail watch, excellent job mate.
I went to the Lange boutique in NYC, which is the N. American flagship. I was shocked at how little they had in stock. They had a few watches, but when I asked about specific models (like a 1815 chronograph), they didn't have it. The sales rep said they hope to normalize their supply by yearend. If you order something, expect 8-10 month wait.
Do they even make 5k total watches a year? I think they’ll always have supply issues. Quality is their main focus.

That strap makes a massive difference, makes it sportier! The brown is a bit boring and black strap makes it too formal to wear with jeans.
And honestly, to see it on someone with similar skin tone to mine was particularly helpful.
So nice, the band just POPS. Some advice, if I may, polish it first then wear gloves before you do close ups.

My Sugess with Seagul 1901 movement also has the "safety" feature that rotates back when I wind it up too much, and the watch is 250 times cheaper :) Don't get me wrong I LOVE Lange, just not sure that feature is material enough to mention...

I visited the harrods A LANG & SOHNE dealership, put my name down on the pink gold datograph , said I’m on the waiting list to join the waiting list 😳, the platinum watch I could of joined the official waiting list straight away , they want a 30% deposit and the watch is usually made within nine months of that deposit be made I’m still having sleepless nights whether to go for the platinum or the pink gold I put my name down on the pink gold she said it was a more popular one so maybe I should change my mind and go for the platinum as it’s rarer . What’s your thoughts 💭

I've always loved the 1815 Moonphase, but perhaps a Lange1 Moonphase would be the correct move. But, given my current lifestyle, and economics, I'm not sure either would happen. Which, is okay. I enjoy going to the Art Institute here in Chicago, and make no delusions that I will own a Joan Miro original.
