On an uneventful night in 1983, I had an inexplicable dream experience. I felt myself lifted upwards as if my soul was leaving my body. I found myself in front of a set of large doors leading to a surreal tunnel filled with light. As I floated weightlessly, I entered a room filled with ancient texts and books, tended to by spiritual beings in white robes. A large figure dressed in white had his back to me. When he turned around, I realized it was my good friend John. As he spoke to me, I was suddenly swept back into my body, gasping for breath. This jolt forced me to sit upright, and I found myself unable to fall back asleep. I reflected on the powerful imagery and feelings from the dream. Two or three days later, I learned that John had passed away in Brisbane. The vivid nature of this experience had a profound impact on me and resonated deeply with me for several decades. It became clear that his soul was being prepared for a new journey.
I was very close with my mom and was devastated when she died on my birthday, at the same time that I was born. I then read that an astrologer said it is not a terrible thing for a parent to die on their child's birthday because that date was very important for both of them. It simply meant that this date was very significant in both of their charts. I then met a woman whose mom had also died on her birthday (at the time of her birth as well) and they had been particularly close to each other too. It helped change my thoughts about it. I felt so awful and couldn't celebrate my birthday, but now I can look at it a bit differently. My mom and I were connected by the stars.
That was so beautiful. I'm not trying to get sympathy or even crying about it, but I want to say very matter of factly, that my mother beat me viscously for a year, very calculated, above the hairline, etc , and then I knew she would end me one day. I lost my tiny mind, but I escaped that day, and then I stayed a scapegoat in a larger family system. I mourn having no healthy familial connections, I mourn having siblings and a father and aunts and uncles. I'm not jealous, I think it's so magnificently beautiful what you wrote and what you experienced with your mother. I just want everyone with healthy connections to really cherish them. It was random - and it also wasn’t. In the lobby of a hotel where I work, there’s a map with pins in it where travelers have come from. Some are concentrated, some are farther away. Similarly, if you were to look at a calendar that showed when everyone’s parents died relative to their birthday, it would look like that map - with clusters in some months & weeks, and less concentrated in others. A dimension could also be added to those whose parents were more or less close to them, and that would have its shape as well. What’s important isn’t whether or not certain stars were aligned - but the fact that you were fortunate to have been close with family, because there are those like myself whose parent’s death has no meaning as we were never close, but rather at irredeemable odds. What’s relevant to me in my case is my closeness with God, never having been an addict to anything so that my health is excellent, and that I live free of the tyranny of an abusive family. It’s God - not the stars, who governs my perceptions, with regard to God being metaphorical of the source of life with in us in the present moment. Everything else is external and temporal.

I decided to walk to the cathedral and when I entered it an orchestra was playing wonderful music. I looked up in the church and saw that an artist's installation was hanging from the ceiling. It was pink and reddish clouds. Took my breath away. I knew my mother had had an incredible post-death experience.
Is there anybody alive like this today? It's really difficult to imagine. This segment of this interview is just stunning and almost made me cry. Just in pure awe.

Does anyone find that synchronicities increase and become even more profound at times of great personal struggle or collective chaos? I have found this to be so which is just an interesting thought in and of itself. Sometimes they come through screens as well, which suggests something beyond or within the algorithm. But maybe i am just an ape man.
I somehow suspect that a trickster is at play during a synchronistic event. We only understand the meaning of the event after the mischief has been done.

I think that, currently, an example of acausal orderliness is the vault structure in biology. Which function is not understood, really, maybe something about porosity but it's so mysterious that it's often skipped in literature.
I've been looking for love for a long time and a song that's not very well known came on that I adore. I turned around and saw a guy that I have a crush on staring at me, with the lyrics 'you are the reason I've been waiting so long' in the background. I have memories of making lots of prolonged eye contact with him when we were very young and our parents were friends. I'm hoping we might be together one day. I will be meeting him in some weeks.

The synchronicity "Only had the meaning to convince you of the reality of the psyche." I think this is close! I wouldn't attribute it to the "psyche" but just that there's more out there than simply our mind's way of structuring and interpreting our existence as a chain of causal events, and to be open to that reality, as a clue-in to personal or spiritual growth. Regarding the woman who dreamt of the numbers and then saw them on the paper. I also think it's possible the events have a "wake" (as in ripples from a boat), that extend forward in time as well as backwards. The event occurs, its ripples are felt before. So for the observer of the event, it's not necessarily "precognition", but fragments of the event "leak" out, and somewhere in the message chain there's a great cosmic filter that ensures the precognition does not grant observer any strategic or opportunistic advantage, so it always will appear as something that a person cannot act on in order to change the outcome.
Some say the 11:11 synchronicity is anecdotal, and it may be, but the number of times I just happened to have looked at the time remaining on a video or podcast and it displayed 11:11 has to be more than what is randomly probable.
I have experienced, many synronicities most of them were about a deepening knowledge of my self and my departed relatives and things that they were involved in their lives , like my grandmothers job at the British museum as an archeologist…they started with her ,and happened perhaps 25 years after she died , i visited place in london that had a strong link to what she did there , later that day my brother informed my that the museam had contacted him an wanted to know about her research in terms of intellectual papers ..etc , i would never had gone to this place in london , the chances of those two events coinciding were so remote , it was spooky i got tingles , since then they have recurred, each time i feel an intense energy in my body like a super sensitivity , i also have those more mundane ones that every one has like thinking about a person then they phone you, but the ones about your departed family have a feeling like you subconscious has been laying in wait for the right time to emerge, as long as a life time …..
I had many interesting S E when I was in my late 20s. This was during a very difficult period in my life. They seemed to be in the air I breathed. Like a cosmic poetry. Like facets of a dream in reality. Our dreams are part reality and our conscious life part dream. The synchronicity seems to be connected to the overlap between the two worlds.
I once had a dream of walking into a room, and the room was full of golden clocks and a watchmaker was sitting in the middle of this room. When he saw me, he shouted: What are you doing here? You are not supposed to be in here, at least not yet. And then the dream ended. Somehow this dream stuck with me.
The golden clocks and watchmaker suggest the mystery of time and fate, perhaps the Self guarding deeper truths. Being told 'not yet' might hint at the soul’s timing - wisdom meant for another stage of your journey. It might be interesting doing active imagination and dialoguing with the watchmaker.
I have had numerous precognitive dreams . Happens all the time. Some are more obvious than others. I have seen so many synchronous events I know I’m in the right zone of consciousness when they come . It seems to come in seasons
I respectfully disagree with the argument for acausal orderedness. Scientifically, the half-life of uranium and the speed of light can be explained through quantum mechanics and quantum electrodynamics, assuming Jung’s use of “why” refers to “how” in a scientific context. However, if “why” is meant philosophically, it falls outside the scope of science and becomes a moot point. Regarding the claim that physicists cannot predict the creation of new particles, this is not a definitive scientific fact. The inability to currently predict such events with certainty reflects the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics but does not prove they are fundamentally unpredictable. It is possible that future scientific advances may uncover deterministic mechanisms underlying particle creation, which cannot be dismissed without conclusive evidence to the contrary.
I’m probably not going to govern my life by using synchronicity. Though I do believe that it exists it seems that the imagination can very easily misinterpret the signs. I do also believe that the ego loves to seek an identity with being ‘correct’ which further distorts interpretations and builds further growth of ego.
I think it is useful to think about all of these concepts in the context of communication and also time. An event in the future is in the future for us at this moment in time, but at the same time, that event simply exists and may not be existing at a specific time. We are bound by time but is everything we experience bound by time?
While we are bound by linear time, the psyche often operates in a timeless, symbolic realm. Events may 'exist' beyond time, woven into the collective unconscious, waiting to be integrated into our awareness when the moment is right.
I wonder, why we should transcend magical thinking when discussing synchronicity... it is self evident and comes from perception on another, maybe older/deeper level of awareness, that has its own objects. rationality works well for other considerations.
You should put it into context. She lives in a time where a lot of scientific and physics progression has happened. Science really was at its forefront and quantum mechanics was very new and mind boggling, even magical in a sense. Still it was supported by empirical experimentation and mathematical equations.
Von Franz calls the old magical way of thinking regressive though Jung himself was very fond of the old and archaic ways of man. He said :"To give birth to the ancient in a new time is creation. This is the creation of the new, and that redeems me. Salvation is the resolution of the task. The task is to give birth to the old in a new time." She also said that Jung thought synchronicity is "creation in time" which seems to support this even further. Synchronicity seems to be purposeful but not causal, magical but not superstitious.
@KSCdd yes, that makes sense to me... i perceive what von franz refers to as "magical thinking" as the realm of intuition which is based on what i sense, see, hear etc. right now... (no future, no planning, no pressure). we in the modern west tend very strongly towards thinking, abstraction. it was hard for me to "unearth" that so called "magical thinking" and to follow my intuition. synchronicity makes for intense SENSE/meaning -- more so than pure thought, which somewhat pales in comparision... BOTH inform us and we need both... maybe that is what von franz means by transcending "magical thinking" (go beyond thought by looping back to intuition).

There is a perfectly good reason why 6 is a number with such properties - it's a pronic number that reflects the basic characteristics of everything in the universe - snoflake fractals form into 6 sides, and the triangle (2x3) is the basic fundamental Platonic sold (three-sided pyramid) of all other solids - a bunch of pyramids with three sides combined together form a sphere.
We can explain the speed of light. Because speed is a ratio between our favorite measure of length and favorite measure of time. If we would choose different measures speed would also be different. Speed of light is more a measure of our own pace of life. So we should explain why we live at that specific speed.
When meeting Carl Jung, I started to relate more to my day of conceiving than that of my birth sic. I always wondered how synchronicity worked in relation to Zen philosophy -- even from the basic level of naming it. Is Zen, good in a moral sense, in delivering a good outcome for an action, or in a common sense, as when you say, good, fine, we can move forward, and how does that arc over meeting shadow through individuation processes.
The moment you want something is the exact moment you give up your freedom. You cannot want and be free simultaneously, there is no such thing as free will as will is never free otherwise you wouldn’t have it.

I don't think we credit our ancestors with enough intelligence. Not everything to them was magic. They looked, watched and observed. Created. They followed the movements of stars and planets for months, years and decades. Built mechanisms to shelter us and hunt and grow food.
It has been said that the speed of light is not arbitrary/ it is caused by the resistance of the vacuum- but that our metric system is arbitrary- Nevertheless, the acausal relating principle definitely seems to exist- the blue/black frock story is an example/ if we are honest, we have all experienced it. Nevertheless there may be some quantum causality behind it of which we are as yet unaware.

Yes, but there is always a why, even if we do not know the why. The speed of light is what it is for a reason, for multiple reasons. We may not know all the reasons, but that doesn´t mean that it just is and without any reason or as Marie Louise says, cause. There are things are just are though, such as God and Love and ofcourse God is Love and Love is God, so they are one and the same and there is no reason or cause for why they are, they just are.
Reason and cause belong to the realm of the ego, while the divine resides in the archetypal realm, beyond causality. These truths 'just are,' not because they lack meaning, but because they transcend the need for explanation, existing as the ultimate ground of being.

Synchronicities are unmistakable, may differ from person-to-person and are consistent, once you know what to be ready for. But that's the thing. Once you know, you can no longer look for them, because you're no longer looking for understanding, you're looking for verification. You're wasting resources on the now "trivial", which for others will soon be (hopefully) revelations. The Universe, and therefore God, reveals its power, then requires you to get back to it. With an open heart, humility, humbleness, a yearning for understanding and the knowingness of what to be ready for (key: ready, and not expecting), God reveals the answer. From the loud Creeks that manifest in areas they never did, to the flexing of peripheral matter that occur at just the moment of revelation, these signs become unmistakable. The movement of energy to confuse others' mental states become outright childish in the face of God's movement of physical matter. And this capability lies within all who are willing to breathe, expand their mental awareness, and be ready. Satan (chaos, confusion, and anything that distorts understanding) cannot contend with it. God is unbeatable.

@@KingJorman An outside observer may rightly say that another individual acts by his own agency, and that may be considered free will, or free choice. But, WITHIN an individual, choices are always made as a result of prior learning, or conditioning, and immediate environmental influence, and the choices are generated in the unconscious, which is unobservable until the choice becomes behavior.

Does anyone find that synchronicities increase and become even more profound at times of great personal struggle or collective chaos? I have found this to be so which is just an interesting thought in and of itself. Sometimes they come through screens as well, which suggests something beyond or within the algorithm. But maybe i am just an ape man.
Oh yes, because we are more acutely aware when in pain or in danger.

I somehow suspect that a trickster is at play during a synchronistic event. We only understand the meaning of the event after the mischief has been done.

I think that, currently, an example of acausal orderliness is the vault structure in biology. Which function is not understood, really, maybe something about porosity but it's so mysterious that it's often skipped in literature.

I'm writing a short story that I didn't realize was actually about synchronicity, not prophecy and fate, until this video popped up.
The synchronicity "Only had the meaning to convince you of the reality of the psyche." I think this is close! I wouldn't attribute it to the "psyche" but just that there's more out there than simply our mind's way of structuring and interpreting our existence as a chain of causal events, and to be open to that reality, as a clue-in to personal or spiritual growth.
Regarding the woman who dreamt of the numbers and then saw them on the paper. I also think it's possible the events have a "wake" (as in ripples from a boat), that extend forward in time as well as backwards. The event occurs, its ripples are felt before. So for the observer of the event, it's not necessarily "precognition", but fragments of the event "leak" out, and somewhere in the message chain there's a great cosmic filter that ensures the precognition does not grant observer any strategic or opportunistic advantage, so it always will appear as something that a person cannot act on in order to change the outcome.
Love hearing her speak. Her books are some of my favorite. Alchemy book was the best, 2nd the one on the Puer aeternus.Incredibly intelligent mind.

I have experienced, many synronicities most of them were about a deepening knowledge of my self and my departed relatives and things that they were involved in their lives , like my grandmothers job at the British museum as an archeologist…they started with her ,and happened perhaps 25 years after she died , i visited place in london that had a strong link to what she did there , later that day my brother informed my that the museam had contacted him an wanted to know about her research in terms of intellectual papers ..etc , i would never had gone to this place in london , the chances of those two events coinciding were so remote , it was spooky i got tingles , since then they have recurred, each time i feel an intense energy in my body like a super sensitivity , i also have those more mundane ones that every one has like thinking about a person then they phone you, but the ones about your departed family have a feeling like you subconscious has been laying in wait for the right time to emerge, as long as a life time …..

I had many interesting S E when I was in my late 20s. This was during a very difficult period in my life. They seemed to be in the air I breathed. Like a cosmic poetry. Like facets of a dream in reality. Our dreams are part reality and our conscious life part dream. The synchronicity seems to be connected to the overlap between the two worlds.

I once had a dream of walking into a room, and the room was full of golden clocks and a watchmaker was sitting in the middle of this room. When he saw me, he shouted: What are you doing here? You are not supposed to be in here, at least not yet. And then the dream ended. Somehow this dream stuck with me.
The golden clocks and watchmaker suggest the mystery of time and fate, perhaps the Self guarding deeper truths. Being told 'not yet' might hint at the soul’s timing - wisdom meant for another stage of your journey. It might be interesting doing active imagination and dialoguing with the watchmaker.

I have had numerous precognitive dreams . Happens all the time. Some are more obvious than others. I have seen so many synchronous events I know I’m in the right zone of consciousness when they come . It seems to come in seasons
I respectfully disagree with the argument for acausal orderedness. Scientifically, the half-life of uranium and the speed of light can be explained through quantum mechanics and quantum electrodynamics, assuming Jung’s use of “why” refers to “how” in a scientific context. However, if “why” is meant philosophically, it falls outside the scope of science and becomes a moot point.
Regarding the claim that physicists cannot predict the creation of new particles, this is not a definitive scientific fact. The inability to currently predict such events with certainty reflects the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics but does not prove they are fundamentally unpredictable. It is possible that future scientific advances may uncover deterministic mechanisms underlying particle creation, which cannot be dismissed without conclusive evidence to the contrary.

I’m probably not going to govern my life by using synchronicity. Though I do believe that it exists it seems that the imagination can very easily misinterpret the signs. I do also believe that the ego loves to seek an identity with being ‘correct’ which further distorts interpretations and builds further growth of ego.

I think it is useful to think about all of these concepts in the context of communication and also time. An event in the future is in the future for us at this moment in time, but at the same time, that event simply exists and may not be existing at a specific time. We are bound by time but is everything we experience bound by time?
While we are bound by linear time, the psyche often operates in a timeless, symbolic realm. Events may 'exist' beyond time, woven into the collective unconscious, waiting to be integrated into our awareness when the moment is right.
I wonder, why we should transcend magical thinking when discussing synchronicity... it is self evident and comes from perception on another, maybe older/deeper level of awareness, that has its own objects. rationality works well for other considerations.

You should put it into context. She lives in a time where a lot of scientific and physics progression has happened. Science really was at its forefront and quantum mechanics was very new and mind boggling, even magical in a sense. Still it was supported by empirical experimentation and mathematical equations.

Von Franz calls the old magical way of thinking regressive though Jung himself was very fond of the old and archaic ways of man. He said :"To give birth to the ancient in a new time is creation. This is the creation of the new, and that redeems me. Salvation is the resolution of the task. The task is to give birth to the old in a new time."
She also said that Jung thought synchronicity is "creation in time" which seems to support this even further.
Synchronicity seems to be purposeful but not causal, magical but not superstitious.
@KSCdd yes, that makes sense to me... i perceive what von franz refers to as "magical thinking" as the realm of intuition which is based on what i sense, see, hear etc. right now... (no future, no planning, no pressure). we in the modern west tend very strongly towards thinking, abstraction. it was hard for me to "unearth" that so called "magical thinking" and to follow my intuition. synchronicity makes for intense SENSE/meaning -- more so than pure thought, which somewhat pales in comparision... BOTH inform us and we need both... maybe that is what von franz means by transcending "magical thinking" (go beyond thought by looping back to intuition).

There is a perfectly good reason why 6 is a number with such properties - it's a pronic number that reflects the basic characteristics of everything in the universe - snoflake fractals form into 6 sides, and the triangle (2x3) is the basic fundamental Platonic sold (three-sided pyramid) of all other solids - a bunch of pyramids with three sides combined together form a sphere.
We can explain the speed of light. Because speed is a ratio between our favorite measure of length and favorite measure of time. If we would choose different measures speed would also be different.
Speed of light is more a measure of our own pace of life. So we should explain why we live at that specific speed.

Yes, but there is always a why, even if we do not know the why. The speed of light is what it is for a reason, for multiple reasons. We may not know all the reasons, but that doesn´t mean that it just is and without any reason or as Marie Louise says, cause. There are things are just are though, such as God and Love and ofcourse God is Love and Love is God, so they are one and the same and there is no reason or cause for why they are, they just are.
Reason and cause belong to the realm of the ego, while the divine resides in the archetypal realm, beyond causality. These truths 'just are,' not because they lack meaning, but because they transcend the need for explanation, existing as the ultimate ground of being.

Synchronicities are unmistakable, may differ from person-to-person and are consistent, once you know what to be ready for. But that's the thing. Once you know, you can no longer look for them, because you're no longer looking for understanding, you're looking for verification. You're wasting resources on the now "trivial", which for others will soon be (hopefully) revelations. The Universe, and therefore God, reveals its power, then requires you to get back to it. With an open heart, humility, humbleness, a yearning for understanding and the knowingness of what to be ready for (key: ready, and not expecting), God reveals the answer. From the loud Creeks that manifest in areas they never did, to the flexing of peripheral matter that occur at just the moment of revelation, these signs become unmistakable. The movement of energy to confuse others' mental states become outright childish in the face of God's movement of physical matter. And this capability lies within all who are willing to breathe, expand their mental awareness, and be ready.

But, WITHIN an individual, choices are always made as a result of prior learning, or conditioning, and immediate environmental influence, and the choices are generated in the unconscious, which is unobservable until the choice becomes behavior.
