We live in the northwest mountains in NC will fig trees over winter outdoors in the mountains? We have two small fig plants and they do have a few figs on them. They are in containers and we bring them in for the winter. We don't know anything about growing figs we are just learning. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
@@marywarren7404 NC is beautiful and amazing. I am coastal NC 😊 I would definitely bring them in if they are in containers and are small. My fig trees are very big and were here when I bought my house. I have started regrowing fig clippings and some are doing well and I will bring them in once it starts to get to cold.
@@SweetSouthernLivingHomestead Thank you for the reply. We are new to growing figs. Can you tell me when they are ripe and ready to be picked. My husband has been waiting until they turn almost black. I think they are too ripe and mussy. Can you give us some information?
@@marywarren7404 there is an amazing group on Facebook called "Fig Tree Growers Network" if you're on Facebook check it out. It is a wonderful group and you can post pictures of your fig trees to help find out what kind you have. It's a great group and I have learned a lot about my fig trees from them. I hope it will help you too like it has helped me 😊
