These cars don’t need to a factory drop, turbo, or Brembo option. The aftermarket parts for these cars is going to be sick. They did what they needed to do to keep it affordable

There's plenty of room in there for a supercharger, for anyone who wants to boost it. That would be my inclination - if I could justify the big expense, which I couldn't.

Bringing the peak torque down in the RPM band, in my opinion, was the best improvement they could have made. The power is much more accessible there, especially for the non-manual cars. Add in the improved steering, improved sound, improved power, and better suspension on top of that and you have a genuine successor to the outgoing model.
Lori and Joe, another awesome review!!! Been driving Hondas for almost 30 years now. But I appreciate a lightweight, affordable performance car with manual tranny no matter who makes it. Bravo Toyota/Subaru!!! Hope other manufacturers will pay attention to this enthusiasts car and that it is still possible to make a car of this magnitude and keep it affordable.

Been a fan of Raiti for a quite a long time but never saw him on a track before. Good to see him driving very well there too! Note that countless other you tubers try to push to the limit on public roads, but raiti pushes to the limit on tracks and even parking lots… bc even though he’s high energy, he’s not a a DB idiot who risks lives on public roads…

Here's hoping the twins are still solid by the time the kids are moved out. 1 thing to mention on the dead button under the gear shift. That's probably for the automatic for a snow mode. Manual obviously doesn't need that.

Well tbh this is a pretty light car. Could be in the high 1100s after removing the rear seats and fitting in lightweight Sparco seats and a steering wheel
It's a nice looking car, especially in the front; I like the front end view better than the look of the new Z's front end. The weight at 2800 lbs is good for a sports car. I think if they could have put a 6 cyl boxer engine making about 3.6 liter displacement for a little more money it would be a real killer.

this new generation 86 looks good. seems like a reasonable sportscar if you don´t need those crazy horsepower numbers - and let´s be honest: who actually does. of course as a petrolhead you like the v6 and v8 engines with alot of torque, but i think this toyota is perfectly balanced for everyday life.

Most of the people who want HIGH horsepower either just want to flex (not the smartest thing to do or that safe around public drivers) or are legitimately racing for pink slips from what I can deduce. People can get whatever cars they want, I just think that in many cases the horsepower to brain ratio is quite honestly lacking in many situations.

You can't beat the interior of this thing. From the UI being inside the dash, to the buttons they use for modes/AC. A REAL manual handbreak. The obvious zonk though is no snacks WHATSOEVER in this vehicle. We'll be seeing these on the streets a lot, respectfully.
For every day driving, I would buy the new GR86. Perfect balance in a world full of boosted cars that in the long run cost you tons of money to maintain

The after market from the factory is super nice. Want an intake, slap it on and it won't void your warranty. Other than looks and handling, this is a top reason to get the Toyota.

The reason for me considering the purchase is the fact that it doesn't have a turbo. This toyota is meant for greatness.
