Matey brilliantly video. I like the sigma trend for its meme and I do love the characters.I mean my brother and I make jokes about being sigma But to idolise these characters is some that so worries me.
The question about where the Aragorn and Captain Joseph edits are is very good. I'd very much appreciate seeing some promotion of compassionate leaders and healthy masculinity (although idk who Captain Joseph here is). But hearing my little brother asking me, if i know what a sigma is, is just really dissappointing, because I know very well what kind of psychopathy is advertised to him as cool and manly. We have to look out for the people around us and be the role models those edits can't be.
One of the hardest things for me to do is to get out of my comfort zone. This includes investing in new and existing friendships and deciding to live as fully as i can. To do so risks rejection and failure, of which ive had my share. But deepening connection with people and creating fulfilling experiences makes life so damn great, for me it's worth the risk
Fr bro, W high quality video. I’ve seen people glaze Homelander, Soldier Boy, and Dexter as “sigma’s” (these are the three I see the most) Homelander is a psychopath who murders and does extremely disgusting stuff. Soldier boy is even more glazed though. He bashed people to near death for disagreeing with him, he kills innocent people, and does drugs. I don’t know how that’s sigma, or he’s a good person 💀 And Dexter is a serial killer. I like all these characters as just *characters* (hence my Homelander pfp, because I I like him as a *villain*. Viewing them as “sigma’s” or “idols” is just messed up. Said characters shouldn’t be idolised W video. Nothing but facts. you deserve way more than 500 views.
You're being a dork about this. Sigma is not synonymous with this weird murderous stuff. Sigmas are just supposed to be the introverted version of alphas. It is an answer to people who want to lead, but don't want to beat their chests and struggle through the ranks over it. I wish you'd have focused on bringing people up instead of putting people down. But when you gather shitty source material I guess you'll reap what you sow. All of the sigma content on youtube is BS. Just be yourself and stand up for what you think is right even if you don't fit the picture perfect person who normally embodies those ideals. Is a girl getting harrased at a party, but you're not some tough brawny guy that can physically deal with those guys? Sigmas find a way to protect people without resorting to violence. That's all it is. Ignore the tictok bs.
I see what your saying, I guess there are multiple ways of viewing it. I see a lot of people with very toxic fictional role models doing dumb stuff but if your able to see it differently and gain something positive out of it then that's awesome. Keep that up. Love to hear different perspectives on it.
It's just another box people create so they can make video's about it. I mean youtubers reacting to tiktokkers and vice versa is just a sad trend to watch.
@@MRbookworm Firstly, thank you for your question that comes from a place of understanding. Honestly I try to look at the whole Alpha/Sigma/Omega thing pretty objectively. You're gonna find all kinds of content with famous actors "portraying" these archetypes. I think it boils down to, how do these strategies help people find their place in society? So Alphas are leaders who are assertive and find ways to become team leaders. Omegas are people who find success by becoming masters of their chosen craft and then lean into that. I would say Sigmas are people that find areas within the team that are lacking and try to fit in there. So if an Alpha has a certain sector covered then a Sigma isn't interested in competing with them. They will move on to a different strategy that feels like it's under-utilized and make it their own thing. That's why so much content has them seeming like edgy trailblazers. I feel like it's important to remember that these are just archetypes, like bookworms or emotional healers. Thankfully it's harder to make toxic content surrounding these much more established roles.
I think you underestimate how many layers of irony this trend has. In addition to that there are athletes and artists who are considered to be sigma.

Agreed. This guy's analysis reeks of try-hard, self-indulgent, pseudo intellectual. Projecting his ill-observed idea of toxic masulinity onto others.

What's your perspective on Sigmas?
