Good morning Chuck Paige & Family! Do Thai construction workers use pneumatic air tools at all? Enjoy watching the renovation videos! I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion about your contractor and crew. Agree with your observation about government regulations involving the public limiting individual basic freedoms. Government shouldn't be in control of your mind and body within reason, of course! Paige is such a good daughter in caring for her parents. Interesting and enjoyable video! This series is wonderful. I am really enjoying it. In my build process costs do keep going up but it is in very large part due to me adding things in after the original agreement. I can't blame them for me saying, 'gee, an outlet would be handy there', or 'hmm, if R-27 is good maybe R-38 would be better.'
I have to agree, one of the things I really love about living here is you're free to be stupid, and if you get hurt, it's your own damn fault for doing stupid stuff. It is a level of personal responsibility that seems lacking elsewhere.

Done my apprenticeship on construction sites, have WHS qualifications. Wore all the safety gear because of WHS regs....at home, no hard, zero safety gear. It's all down to common sense my friend...great video Chuck !!! Totally agree with your comments mate 👌

In tropical Asian countries, especially in rural areas, people do their construction work wearing their usual daily attire but of course its a different thing if the construction project is huge and in an urban setting and also if the construction company handling it is a big one, then they have to strictly follow safety protocols.
Problematic construction workers are not only in Thailand. They're anywhere, any country. But same as reliable, honest workers too like what you've found.
17:45 Thailand actually has very similar EHS rules & regulations to the West. The big difference is LITIGATION. Without litigation culture you can opt how far to take your adherence to the regulations.
Why do the govt regulators allow this lackadaisy adherence to the regulations? - Because Thailand is a developing country and many of these rules & regulations are simply not achievable in rural areas.
The rules & regulations remain in place as a goal to continually try and achieve fully.
We bought some land and built some bungalows with a pond, no problems at all with construction. Guy from Sweden and his Thai wife bought a lot next to us. Their build started out fine, but then the contractor left with the money! I told him, never give them more than 10% contract price...house just sits there now with nothing being done for over two years now.

Good builders/workers are hard to find now in any country , glad you got some good workers for your project, as for health and safety in just about anything here, well that’s a whole new discussion , I laugh / cringe at the same time when I see the workers sweeping the middle of a 3 lane road with a broom or painting the concrete centre divider on the road and there’s a person 20 yards away waving a very small flag to warn speeding motorists to move over , they just get it done using their tried and tested methods

I wouldn’t say all construction in Thailand is negative Chuck, we only had a positive experience, with our worker’s and tradesmen and the foreman and architect, but we used a big company and they followed the contract to the letter and the cost was exactly what the contract stated. I fully recommend the company we used, but we chose them after at least a year of research.
I was going to mention in your last video... how can these people work with flip flops 😅 and not get hurt ore sore feet. Standing on the ladder would be hurting pretty good.
I must say, it's starting to come together and looks real good.

It’s a different world over here our houses r built to keep the heat in the government done a project where they fixed windows a new oil burner and fixed the attic to keep the heat inthe difference is unreal and I don’t have the heat on yet😊
The company i work for Chuck ,They are Crazy on Health and Safety issues in the last 3 years it's Embarrassing to anyone that's not got common sense ie the workforce ..I think they try to cover themselves not paying out £££££ .I could sit on your porch all day long watching the Thai's go by 😁And that Lady hugging her Fav brought a massive smile to my face bless her 😁

Always amazed by how touching it is to see the way Thai's respect and honor their deceased relatives that everyone should be doing, I know it's a religious thing but is still very moving. (to me) The reno project is looking great, and I'm sure Paige's mom is super excited by the new badly needed changes happening after 40 years. And as always, my opinion on your vids, Awesome . I love the "True to life" daily going-ons, and so many criticize it just because they are so woke? or so hung up on being dummies in the 2024's. Ignore is a great option, imo, rofl. I totally agree , living in Malaysia my contractor renovated our condo and the workers are the same. Great job safety is neither here nor there. That’s the beauty of living in Malaysia/ Thailand same same but different

Health and safety in the UK is just as bad as America they have gone too far in my opinion, as you say if it hurts then you won't do it again, i worked in the gas, oil and wind industries and its the most regulated industries in the uk you have to jump hoops to get the contract's but the work force is always monitored by health and safety but turn a blind eye if the director tell them i ended up with white finger syndrome which has permanently damaged to my hands due to using a router and sander constantly over 12 hours shift 6 days a week for 5 months. Hopefully i will be retired to Thailand in a few years i love the country with its rich heritage culture and traditions.

Your contractors seem super professional for Thailand. Like you I feel Thailand doesn't have as many rules you have the freedom to screw up your life if you want. It's looking good.

And they want to blame the rubber band manufacturer or the high school dropout setting up the bungee….,and I think… what if you were not stupid enough to jump in the first place you would not be in that hospital bed or coffin….
