Wonderful, Paul! It reminds me of picking you up at the train station in San Jose, March '95, with your two instrument cases, one for the resonating box - that was a first!
Such wonderful variety of intonation. And the phrasing is so convincing, it's like the music is emerging for the very first time as he plays it. I get to hear him play this piece in concert tonight - can't wait!
Masterful and beautiful play on an ingeniously conceived instrument that sounds half way between a piano and a guitar, but which preserves the best qualities of either instruments.

What a beautiful performance. Technique and skill is invisibly embedded in the music. I played a fan fret guitar for a couple of years. The design dramatically improves the intonation problems of a standard guitar. The odd thing was the frets soon started to look normal as I spent time with the instrument , and then when I picked up a standard guitar the frets looked slanted!

@@alguien9710 Desil if I know. You might be able to head down to a local library and look it up. Maybe the virtuosic Mr. Galbraith enjoys playing a goofy-looking guitar no reason whatsoever.
Interesting transcription solutions compared to others I've heard and tried, these here undoubtedly facilitated by the instrument's construction. Some very good tempo choices, clear phrasing and voice leading. Highly commendable.
Great guitarist. I met Paul in a workshop years ago in Arizona. He took his time to talk to me before the workshop and gave me some valuable advice. Thanks Paul
Wow, this is the first time I see this kind of guitar. It would be nice if you would add some more information about it in the description. Amazing performance, I only wish a mic was a bit closer.
It's in what he calls a brahms tuning with 6 standard string and an added high and low string. It's of course fanfretted, and is connected to a special sound box he made for this setup with a wooden rod. I adopted this tuning but did not get the other setup. It's very fun to play and learn new things with.

Stunning performance. What a wonderful instrument he's playing.

Ele não apenas esta tocando. Está fazendo uma oração e nos abençoando. Obrigado e amém.
Totally gorgeous, the music and nothing but the music.
Amazing musician and a beautiful spruce tone (looks so relaxed ) . Lovely , articulate interpretation .Thank's Paul
I too appreciate the traditional spruce tone over that of the composite and lattice set-ups. So much more focus.
Such a genuinely novel way of playing the guitar. It certainly deserves more exposure to the community of guitarists worldwide.
Wow! Beautiful, not rushed, articulate and so well played. Bravo
Magnifique performance et très grand jeu sur un instrument de maître que je viens de voir pour la première fois.

So schon!
il suono è molto bello. Credo risulti efficace la posizione inusuale della chitarra come se fosse un violoncello!
Braavo!
2:49 it sounds like Super Mario 3 ending theme, loved it.
Lindo
The guitar is like : /
Lmao

Can you play The Fisherman by Leo Kottke?
The sound certainly seems to be improved, due to the frets. The guitar is submerged in endless intonation problems.
Could you explain the intonation problems? What do you mean exactly?
How can the "pizzicato" effect work on a such guitar ? Did anybody think of it? 😮
What kind of guitar is it?
¿Qué tipo de guitarra es esa?
Fucking INSANE!!
I've not heard anything that so fully utilized the capabilities of the Brahms guitar,. This is fantastic.
Does he play a cello
Or a Guitar
Can someone tell me what kind of guitar and style of playing is this?
This is an 8-string Brahms guitar made by Martin Woodhouse
@@JosephEhrenpreis Thank you!
Let’s add an island for Gulliver ……who would be sitting there ..playing guitar.
