I recently got terminated from my corrections job. I won't go into specifics, but was supposed to be helping families and those incarcerated. I found that more often than not, our own officers/administrative were the problem. I sympathize with their plight yet, I reported more staff than I did assisting inmates. Pointing out the policy and law violations-- trying to 'fix it from the inside' as it were, only took away someone trying to help. I appreciate all that you try and do here at the Marshall Project and look forward to your next video.

Staff shortages and being underpaid are the reasons prisons are going the way they are. You take an overworked and underpaid officer whose job is to secure the facility but you have a convict who is offering 5k to bring cigs or phones in to the facility, what do you think they’re doing? Taking the 5k and making more working for convicts than the state

Ridiculous to underpay correctional officers!!! the woman is the fiance to a person that is rightfully in prison for armed robbery 😬😡

What the prison guards basically need to do is build a union. There is probably nothing else that would help them better their work environment than uniting and pushing their agenda.
