That is the case for almost every Pink Floyd song. Nick Mason is, imo, one of the Top 3 rock drummers of all time. If you had just an above average drummer, these songs would just be "meh"...
That being said, everyone who ever worked on a Pink Floyd song is simply AMAZING. I love thousands of songs, but Pink Floyd is just on another level...

@@williamosborne6866 There are actually two bass parts - one is Fender Precision (Waters) the other a Fender Fretless (Gilmour). The Fretless is the bass you hear at the very beginning. Waters wasn't able to hit the right cent range without the frets. Gilmour had to. Same thing happened on One of These Days. Problem with that one is Waters received an award for it because he was the only listed bass player. Any fretless parts were played by Gilmour. It like the acoustic on this song - unless you know how Gilmour screwed up when he strung his guitar you will have a very hard time replicating the sound.

There are many, many songs I could suggest, but some that I feel you NEED are "Comfortably Numb, 1994 Pulse concert version which is light years above the album version you've heard, "Run like Hell" from the same concert, "Shine on You Crazy Diamond", the album version is musically better, but the Pulse version would not disappoint, and "When the Tigers Broke Free" if you want your heart strings tugged on a little. My band in 1977 used to cover Hey You, Comfortably Numb, and Brick in the Wall and the crowd was never disappointed. Amber, watching you react to these tunes warms this old heart on a daily basis. You are an old, wise soul and a very special lady. Jay...I say this with all due respect. I love you both. Never stop and always stay groovy! Peace and love to my family here. God bless.

I attended several Pink Floyd concerts. The one thing that always amazed me was being in a stadium full of people who were all mesmerized by the music. Sure there were applause and some cheers but it wasn't like an AC/DC concert or the current pop star concerts. People road the waves of the music and, like Amber, caught that amazing something and lost themselves in the music. I love how the last couple of times I saw them they ended with that amazing Comfortably Numb rendition with Gilmour just going off on the final solo. The crowds were near silent as the white disco ball came out and unfolded. But when it was done the roar of applause was deafening. They performed for the music and with total respect for the audience. It wasn't a show, it was an experience. The best concerts I have ever attended.

Honestly one of my favorite songs from my absolute favorite album composed by humans…. Other people will tell you to, but listen to this whole album in one sitting one day. The story of the album is so well executed, this is the beginning of the second half where the main character has completed his mental wall to protect himself. He realizes the loneliness crushing in around him since he’s had to isolate himself in order to feel safe and tries to reach out, but as the song says, “..it was only a fantasy… the wall was too high, as you can see…”

Oh man, The Wall is one of the pinnacles of music in the 20th century, amazing on so many levels. They were so very masterful at telling stories of real lives and real struggles, often times drawn from their original lead singer who went crazy. I'm so glad you seem to appreciate it and connect to these musicians. If you want a deep dive video option, check out Roger Waters's solo version of Pink Floyd's song "Dogs" performed live (its like 20 minutes long). Waters and Gilmore don't like each other much anymore, they split one album after 'The Wall' but they kept on performing Pink Floy tunes even to this day. "Dogs" by Waters is outstanding. Gilmore's solo Pink Floyd work is stunning as well.
