    I've been a fan of Pink Floyd since I was 11 years old, in 1979, when I received this album on vinyl for Christmas. Like most Floyd albums, 'The Wall' tells a story, with each song being a scene. Once you check out the songs individually, listen to the entire album, from start to finish, in one go. A comfortable place to recline, dim lighting, and maybe something to drink. Just close your eyes, and let the music take you on a roller-coaster.

    Pink Floyd's music is in a class of it's own. But they designed their albums to be listened to as an album, not as singles. They hated the radio music industry and the way people had to create short catchy songs for the radio. They created experiences that took whole albums to express. Their live shows went on for hours and they would stretch songs for two or three times longer than most other performers. As it's been mentioned, lights down low, all distractions put away, turn the phones off and listen to the album from beginning to end.

      @WmTRiker 2 года назад +1

      Exactly. You can't analyze the meaning of any individual track from "The Wall" without knowing the context, which can only be gained from having heard the entire album. Actually, I'm still waiting to see _anyone's_ reaction to the track "In The Flesh" (the reprise, not the opening track "In The Flesh?"), especially if they haven't heard the rest of the album. References to people as things like "queers" and "coons" would no doubt throw most people off (especially in this day and age) without realizing it is "Pink's" drug-induced hallucination of him being a fascist dictator.

    A lot of Pink Floyd's music is very dark, and they often are referring to mental illness in their lyrics. They lost a fundamental band member, Syd Barrett, to schizophrenia. It was a very sad decline in such a young man and they paid homage to his genius in some of their songs. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is another one. 💜💚💛✌️

    To me ,the the most powerful line in the song , " Don't help them to bury the light ." Our problem is that there are too many out there who are trying to bury the light . The light of equal rights , equal justice and human dignity . If we stand united , we have a chance of stopping them. We must show them they are their own worst enemy.

    From the album "The Wall" which is a themed storyline of a Rock star struggling with fame, drugs, childhood development, mental illness, relationships. The theme is about the walls he builds around himself. Semi autobiographical, most songs were written by Pink Floyd member Roger Waters. A follow-up movie was made based around the songs. Other songs like "Mother" and "Comfortably Numb" and "Brick in the Wall" all from this album. Deep stuff ✌️

    Pink Floyd will become one of your favorite and most respected bands for doing profound and captivating music that has you enter their 'zone' when you listen to their songs. They are unlike any other band and are their own genre. To fully understand this song and what the Wall is all about, at some point set aside some 'us' time and listen to the entire album and then, when you have a chance, watch the movie of the Wall. It is quite a journey listening to many of their albums in their entirety. Also try Echoes, both the studio version first then the 2 part Echoes: Live at Pompeii version to start to come to grips with the magnitude that is their musical output that these guys gave the world, now and for centuries to come. Enjoy! 🎵

    This is a concept album, meaning that in order to fully understand a single track, the entire album must be listened to. It is recommended to also watch the accompanying film. The album (which contains this song) serves as the soundtrack . "The wall" is an autobiography of Roger Waters, the singer, where he speaks about himself

    Give yourselves a big treat and watch the movie of The Wall. All of these great songs, in context, are even more powerful.

    Pink Floyd songs are great on their own. Yet their Albums are concept albums where all the songs go together and tell a story when listened together.

    What I like about this song is David Gilmore sings first part and Roger Waters sings 2nd part. Like a wall between them. Waters wrote the song and he is very political. Together we stand Divided we fall!

    my favorite reactors! Floyd was one of those bands who created albums not songs. Although any one song can be enjoyed on it's own...they were designed to be listened to together. Take an hour or two to experience Animals cover to cover, start to finish. It will be your most epic and meaningful reaction!

    I believe this song from the record the Wall was written towards Pink Floyd’s first singer who went insane.
