I saw this tour at the Silverdome in Michigan. They played the entire album they had just released, then every song from Dark Side of the Moon, and almost every song from the Wall, and every other song they were remotely known for. Like 4 hours of just them it was 9ne of the most amaz8ngvth8ngs I ever saw. Tied with seeing Thriller tour at the Silverdome in the 80s as a kid for best concert I went to. So amazing.

@@AndICanTalk2 I think the only songs they played from the wall was Comfortably Numb, Run like hell, Young Lust and Another brick in the Wall. Those were the songs on that album that David Gilmour had the most input into and he wouldn't play any of the songs that Rodger Waters solely wrote.

The greatest live band EVER. I feel immensely privileged to have seen the Pulse Concert (not this recording but another night in the same week) and also The Wall in 1980 at the same venue. The innovation, the sound, the lighting of their concerts have really never been surpassed. Attention to detail was key. For example the venue, Earls Court, acoustics were not that good (too much echo) but the Floyd concerts would hang huge banners from the ceiling (banners with symbols designed to match the concerts themes) to absorb the sound which helped the sound crews hugely to get the balance right.

This is one of my favorite concerts. Pulse was recorded in 1994 (but remastered in 2019). Amazing what they could do with the light show back then. Pink Floyd was known for its spectacular laser light shows, in addition to its amazing musicianship. For a future live concert reaction, I suggest the song 'Sorrow' from this same show (Pink Floyd Pulse tour). Also, Pink Floyd as a band is retired and no longer performs, but I did see the lead guitarist/singer (David Gilmour) perform a solo tour in 2016, and he did a lot of classic Pink Floyd songs. Original bass player and songwriter Roger Waters also tours solo, as does drummer Nick Mason as 'Saucerful of Secrets').

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

Something to do with feeding it back through the same amp, sorry, I'm not a guitarist so I can't be more specific! If you can find it, Bill Bailey, who is a UK comedian and musician does a piece on it, although he is rinsing The Edge (basically, it's a setting that can make any tune sound amazing, the playing underneath the effect does not have to be great, if that makes any sense?) and Bill doesn't mention DG at all, it is, I am sure, the same effect. One thing though: this was Pulse, Earls Court, 1994... not 2019... that's when they only did the remastering. Peace from Canada.
btw you were talking about maybe Floyd's best lines ever:
If you're taking your girlfriend out tonight
You better park the car well out of sight.
'Cause if they catch you in the backseat trying to pick her locks.

You never will see a better live performance than Pink Floyd in concert. Absolute perfection in sound, lighting and musicianship.
I was lucky enough to see them in Sydney Australia….in the late 80’s and was blown away completely.
Never seen anything come close since and I have seen plenty.

See, people used to drop a little LSD before going to a Floyd concert (I say "used to"....ok) and the whole thing was an experience like no other. Their concerts and light shows were so infamous that even today there are laser light shows dedicated to people going to an arena like this where they will play Floyd music sync'd with the lights/lasers and those are also really cool...even without the band being there! :)
Ahh....memories. And yes, still one of the best concerts (Pulse) I've ever seen.

I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know.
All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

I love to watch people that haven’t seen live Pink Floyd concerts. They stare at the performance like UFOs are landing. Like total astonishment… There was a time when there were large concerts that brought all sorts of people together. No matter the race, creed, or whatever, everyone was just getting together, enjoying the performance. We need that again. Music should bring folks together. Great video guys!

He has a delay pedal on his guitar. It’s an effect that takes each sound from the guitar and repeats it at certain intervals, you can adjust it. So a single note played will go like this: “dum dum dum dum dum dum . . . “ and fade out. If you play deadened, percussive notes on your guitar it creates the kind of sounds he was making.

"Run Like Hell"haha. "Raising Hell" was an iconic album by Run-DMC.
This performance is actually from 1994,on Floyd's "Division Bell" tour, the last tour of their career. I caught 2 of the 3 Philly shows (6/2 and 6/3) and both of the Washington DC shows (7/9 and 7/10). For sure a top-10 concert experience for me and I've seen most anyone who mattered from about 79-2008-ish. Have scaled it way back since. One feature of this tour was that they played the entire "Dark Side of The Moon" album each show. The lighting and effects were state of the art and still hold up,big time, all these years later.
I'm pretty sure at the time it ended this was the highest grossing tour ever. It's been passed since,of course.

  • @lIlIANONYMOUSIlIl

It was asked how he did those sounds so I will explain, even though it has been a year since this video. There is a signal booster, a flanger and a compressor to note but delay effects are what you are interested in the most. He has two delay boxes that delay the sound so he is playing the notes slightly before you hear them.
The songs main part starts out with that rolling, chugging picking that you hear underlying throughout the song. In between that you hear little embellishments. The delay makes things sound more fluid in between the two. At the very start, he is making that chick chick sound by muting the strings. He is laying his hand across the strings to mute them at the bridge of the guitar. He also scrapes the pick down the string for that other effect.
