The bass player is Guy Pratt who by this time had been in the band for around 10 years, before joining the band he had already played with MJ and Madonna to name 2 ,he already had a British and European no 1 with Icehouse, you will be surprised at his discography . And yes I was at Earl's Court for this show and will never forget it.
Cardboard box = cheap casket. I saw them on this tour twice, one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen.

A Pink Floyd concert is just not a concert it's a beautiful experience!
That's Guy Pratt singing with Dave Gilmour, although technically not a member of Pink Floyd, he took over on bass guitar when Roger Waters quit the band in 1985.
During the years after Roger Waters quit Pink Floyd, the 3 remaining members of the band continued on as Pink Floyd, they're the 3 old guys onstage, David Gilmour of course, and drummer Nick Mason, and keyboardist, Richard Wright.
The other musicians onstage here are the touring band for that time period.

Guy Pratt is a longtime bassist for Pink Floyd. He was already part of the Momentary lapse of reason tour and was also involved in the creation and composition of The Division Bell. He was married to the daughter of Richard Wright, the keyboardist of Pink Floyd. He has worked with musicians and bands such as Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Icehouse, Gary Moore, Tears for Fears, Madonna, Roxy Music as well as Michael Jackson in the studio or in live performances. He is a member of the band The Transit Kings, which, in addition to him, consists of Alex Paterson (The Orb), Jimmy Cauty (The KLF), Dominic Beken and Billy Pilgrim.
Since 2018, he has toured North America and Europe with Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets; playing early Pink Floyd tunes.

sending you home in a carboard box is reference to a temporary cardboard coffin they would send your remains home in.
😁 Lucky enough to see DG/PF do Pulse Tour on the East Coast (Meadowlands, NJ) and it was a 3 Truck Tour. 🤯 1 for the city they just left, 1 for the city they would play that night & 1 to set up in the city they would play the next night. 🥰🐰

In the story that the album tells (The Wall), this song is part of Pink's show, who is still under the influence of drugs, (See: Comfortably Numb).
Here, he shouts his rage against those elements of society that attempt to pull us towards intolerance, hatred, and elimination of individual rights and freedoms.
He warns his listeners that if they break the rules, (They're going to send you back to mother in a cardboard box), or if you prefer, in a coffin.
Guy Pratt who replaced Roger Waters played with Pink Floyd then Gilmours solo tours and even now is still playing with Nick Mason's A Saucerful of Secrets band ( from one of their early album titles) they only play music from the early period with Syd Barrett as there are already so many Pink Floyd tribute bands. he was asked both by Madonna and Micheal Jackson to play on one of their albums. Madonna had never used a live drummer previously, he relates the story that madonna was asked to go to some event at short notice and asked him to be her partner for the night, after thinking for not a long time he agreed . wow going out on a date with Madonna, he could only have been about 19/20 at the time. Anyway it ended in dissapointment , the event had been organised at very short notice and there were no photographers there to record his "Date " with Madonna. No mobile phones back then !
The guy who sang with David Gilmour is Guy Pratt, who has been the bassist for Pink Floyd since the mid-80s, replacing Roger Waters. Pratt played with them until they broke up, and is still playing with David Gilmour in his solo work. Fun fact: Pratt was Richard Wright’s (keyboards) son-in-law.

Yes, that was one phenomenal light show. I wonder if they were touring this gig. It seems like it would be difficult to replicate that kind of presentation night after night. What a delight.

When Pink Floyd went on tour they had a fleet of over 50 trucks broken into 3 groups. One was for the lights, sound system etc. for the show they were doing while a second was carrying a match set of the gear to setup for the next gig, as the third was tearing down and loading up from their previous.

This was a world tour, although I don’t think it made it to Australia......definitely had 3 large semi trailers of gear criss crossing all over America and parts of Europe ( if not all of Europe )...... one of the biggest music tours ever.

The cardboard box reference is saying "don't take advantage of this girl or you'll end up dead" the words are"send you back to London in a cardboard box".
The official lyric is "mother," not "London." Epic
Others here have identified Guy Pratt on bass. It should be mentioned this was no fresh kid substituting for Roger Waters here - GP was (and is) a major bassist who’s appeared on myriad top-drawer recordings, including Michael Jackson’s thunderous “Earth Song” and others.

I've seen them during this tour, I was 17 then. It was my first concert ever, never forget it!
I recommend the band Marillion, please check them out! Their guitarist is at the same level as David, so with emotional solos and great riffs! Their song 'Neverland' (live '09) is a great love song, you'll love it. ❤
David Gilmour was not young here..... probably in his 50’s.
To see David young watch Echoes live in Pompeii..... the 1971 / 72 one by Pink Floyd, not the later one by David and his band. lol

First of all, hats off to you for your great reaction, and hats off to the Patreon who suggested this great song. In my opinion this was absolutely the best live performance of this song, and I never get tired of it. If I remember correctly, Pink Floyd ended The Pulse Concert with this song. Run Like Hell is on The Wall album which tells a story, and to be fully appreciated the lyrics of this song have to be understood in context with the story. The bass player and singer you referred to replaced Roger Waters who left Pink Floyd. Both are amazing musicians.
