I'm just grateful Waters conceived the album, then wrote all the lyrics for all 26 songs, the music for 23 on his own and co-wrote 3 songs with Gilmore and 1 with Bob Ezrin. Floyd weren't the same after he departed.

LOL, I saw "Delicate Sound of Thunder" at the Nassau Coliseum in 1987 when they recorded the concert film and we had a similar experience! It was a smaller stage show than Pulse but it was also 7 years earlier! There were beds and pigs flying around, they had surround sound, fogs, lasers, crazy spider lights coming out of the floor, the back up singers could've been their own band! It was like being at Devil's Tower when the aliens landed in Close Encounters of The Third Kind!

    • @s.mcpherson6354

I can totally relate. We did the same thing when we saw it in our city. I believe I've seen all but one of their tours. And while they were all good, the Pulse show did seem like some kind of pinnacle for showmanship. Roger Waters shows often feel very similar. The audio and visuals are often mesmerizing with Floyd's history. That big moving light ring over the Pulse stage created a lot of very cool effects, especially if you were up front and sort of 'under it.'

They never had such a good time on stage when Roger was still in the band - ever since Guy Pratt took his place (and they added touring members Gary Wallis on percussion and John Carin on second keys to better replicate their studio sound), they really became more crowd friendly. Sadly, only two tours with this lineup. There will never be another band like this - thank God we have them preserved on videos like this so future generations can have the experience of seeing them in their glory.

They project a Wall onto the wall at some point and it looks like the Bricks are flying away and you are looking and your brain s going "what the f*"k. and it takes a good two minutes to work out it's a video and the sound and musicianship is unbelievable. Gary went on to become Drummer and Musical Director for Il Divo, Mike and the Mechanics, but, has been Drummer/MD for Sir Tom Jones for almost the last 30 years....so, David Gilmour didn't just take any session musician on, he clearly saw the talent!!

I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

I saw them also 1987 in Cologne and Pink Floyd had to act after a tangible scandal during the tour. What had happened? In this largely computer-controlled light show, it is extremely important that the right lights are used at the right time when the group kicks in. That's why Pink Floyd used a special electronic device to correct misplayed notes and make sure the cues were correct before they came out of the speakers. They could have played "Oh Christmas Tree" entirely on stage, and out of the PA would have come "Wish you were here," for example. With this complex sound, the second guitar or certain percussion effects were played by the keyboard player, which sometimes didn't really work, and that's why today there are two drummers and two guitarists on stage.

I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.

Note: They are using 1 of 3 stages that they toured with, it took 3 days to set up a stage up and 2 days to dismantle, so one night when they are playing on one stage, there is a stage being torn down in one town, while in another town another stage is being built! It was a Monster Tour. Am Subscribed...

For Pink Floyd live are like no other, one is never enough. On this set They had two drummers with sets, 2 keys men, 3 guitarists and backing singers to die for. They were the pre emminant live tour of the 90s. And in some respects were able to take their studio work and better it Live!! fabulous reaction loved it. If you like instrument sound dynamics try One Of These Days from same Pulse show that closed the first half, equally explosive!

Gilmour is literally a God walking among mere men, yet at the end he just humbly smiles and nods at the audience. No fanfare. No ego. Just a cool guy who happens to be the best in the world at his craft.

What a classic !! The Wall my Dad introduced me to Pink Floyd when I was quire young lol. and I Love the classic albuns Darkside if the moin my fave. Animals is very underrated Gilmour album. The late 1968 acid tripping Syd Barrett years Flioyd is a lot different but is good. I miss ya dad.,💜

I had the privilege to witness this show in New York in 94, this was pink floyd at the pinnacle of showmanship, the fireworks at the end were for real, the music was loud so everyone's ears were ready for that ending, I am 65 now, a mere 30 years has past since, I still have that evening etched into my brain but at least once a month I'll roll a fat one and watch the DVD on my big screen

Such a perfect amazing show. There is no one like David Gilmour and this group & there never will be again.
The lighting was spectacular & revolutionary for the time and still stands up as one of the most amazing displays ever, even with all the leaps in technology that have happened since this came out in 1995. I laugh when I think about people going out into the parking lot afterward and they can't see a thing in the dark because of the afterimages on their retinas from that blinding finale.
I got the "Pulse" DVD as soon as it came out. I have seen it many, many, many times in the 25 years since. It never gets old. There are some differences in this restored version, such as the explosions and little bits of extra music in several spots. That made me happy. ))
It is one of my life's biggest regrets that I did not take a chance to go to one of their concerts on this tour. Can you imagine what that must have been like?
If you ever get a chance to see the cover band Brit Floyd in concert, they are the next best thing to the real thing. They even use the same round lighting eye and videos & animation that Floyd used in this show.

Keep in mind , on top of them sounding excellent live, there’re stage and lighting is incredible and especially for back in 1994 at that time when this was recorded!! I was making a delivery to Bobby Dodd Stadium on the Georgia Tech campus here in Atlanta Georgia and the building I delivered to was right behind the stage and I remember thinking how massive that stage was I could only see it from behind but I of went for a short walk around one side of the stadium all the vendors was there like myself and it was just a massive awesome looking set up and that was only in the daytime when I saw it . I would’ve loved to have been to that concert.

In May of 1994, I was fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd at Foxboro Stadium in Massachusetts during their Division Bell tour. The sound, lights and videos on their screen were amazing. It was lightly drizzling that evening but nobody cared. The laser lights were enhanced by the mist and the quadraphonic sound in that stadium was absolutely mind blowing. They ended the show with Run Like Hell.

The backing singers are brilliant. They are like human metronomes throughout the concert. And in the Great Gig on the Sky they get to star, each if them.

Funny you mention the drummer (Nick Mason) and his kit at the end. They also had a percussionist (Gary Wallace) on stage as well. This particular song, doesn't showcase Wallace as well. Sneak a peek at "Learning to Fly" and you'll see what he is doing in a cage of drums and other instruments.

Suzie. Suzie. Suzie. You have not watched 'The Wall' yet??? It is compulsory enjoyment for any lover of music. It will put so many of the 'Pink Floyd' songs you have reacted to, into context.
You will watch it tomorrow, & I expect a 3 page written critique on my desk the following morning. Ha! Ha!
Love you guys. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
