In 1888, ZENITH filed a trademark for the French term “Pilote”, followed by the English version “Pilot” in 1904. In the years that followed, ZENITH would become one of the preeminent makers of specialized watches and dashboard instruments for pilots. Among the most notable of its countless adopters was Louis Blériot, who made history by making the first flight across the English Channel in 1909. Today, ZENITH continues to uphold and build upon this unparalleled heritage with the latest generation of the Pilot collection.
Entirely redesigned from scratch, the all-new Pilot collection foregoes the vintage aesthetic for something that draws inspiration from the entire span of aviation - past and present. It is imbued with all the essential features of durability, legibility and intuitiveness, respecting the codes of Pilot watches that ZENITH largely defined over a century ago with some of the earliest recorded aviator clocks and dashboard instruments, now revisited in a more contemporary context with some added ZENITH flair and understated nods to the world of aviation...

This is a nice simple and honest pilot watch.
Exactly! And it is NOT a copy of anything that we have seen before belonging to that segment...
I just LOVE the steel, big date chronograph and particularly the red chrono-seconds hand. I am *so glad* that you demonstrated the sounds of date clicking over to the next date. Watches are such tactile machines and that sound adds *so much* consumer confidence to the device. Well done Zenith!
I am happy to read this! WatchAdvisor is different! 😉
@@WatchAdvisor … is more than simply "different", it is (you are) excellent at providing the information and - more importantly - the nuance of each timepiece that I, as a consumer, would like to have *before* going to an AD or a boutique to see, touch & feel, listen to and try on the watch. I'm a better informed customer due to the assistance your videos provide to your viewers. *Thank you SO VERY MUCH!* Well done @WatchAdvisor!
Wow all that tech built in to the chronograph. They took the time to work on physical and audible feedback. Great work, Zenith!
If you take it seriously that's the way to do it...
Zenith is one of the stars of the WW 2023 to me. Awesome watches by an expert guide. More 2 come. Alexander
I agree! Zenith is still a bit under the radar... Thanks for sharing...
Aquanaut immediately came to mind when you showed the 3 hander. I think it looks like one of the more classy all-rounder everyday pieces. God bless.
Thanks for sharing!
AquaNith..
Love the big dates!
Thanks for sharing!
Same here. Something about big dates. Wish they would have put it on the non-chronograph
Alexander you make the BEST watch reviews. You hit every point, highlight every piece of the watch, I just love watching your reviews. I fully understand the watch after you review it. My only gripe is I wish you could do even more reviews of watches…how about the new Grand Seiko diver with the blue dial (SLGA023)? No one else would be able to review such a watch like you. Also, after watching your reviews of the anniversary Omega divers, I was able to make my decision…Ploprof, even though you didnt have that, i was able to eliminate the others and settle on it (on order). You are the best, thank you so much for doing these!!
Thanks for your kind feedback! We had a good meeting with Seiko at Watches and Wonders this year... but there was no follow up coming from them ... so I assume they have no real interest working together with us ... of course they know me ... maybe they are scared ... I simply don't know...
Far and away the best reviewer that provides an idea on how the watch looks and feels, giving all the needed details.Thank you. Wish they had a bracelet as well.
Thanks for sharing our passion and your kind feedback! The bracelet is in those heads… you are not the first one to ask…
Another great detailed presentation Alexander, thanks. I am a big zenith fan and have been hoping they’d update the pilot this year so very glad to see this. I may have to write to Zenith and beg them to do a GMT in 40mm! And if it had the pushers to advance and retard the GMT hand like the Patek Calatrava Pilot, I’d like that even better!
A GMT is in the pipeline... but I think it will one without these additional pushers...
Wow. Well done Zenith. I really like pilot watches for their legibility. The ceramic versions are perfect.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for sharing!
Please ask why they use lackluster C1 lume instead of BGW9.
Will do... actually I make my way through hundreds of comments... if I forget please remind me after some days...
They use C1, so it is almost always pure of white colour, matching the intended design of the watch. Other lume types leave inpressiom they are slightly out of place.
@@Zeeraha I would prefer lume brightness and longevity vs pure white during daytime. I'm sure many others feel the same.
I like the Pilot Automatic , especially the ceramic models ; although I would have preferred a normal pin buckle . The price through , wow! It would be interesting to know the cost price for one of these and the profit margin. It must be astronomical…..
Again: it is a luxury watch, it is the luxury segment of the watch industry… other rules apply…
Very cool watches. The chrono in steel is the one for me. Since I have no Zenith yet, I might go for one pretty soon. Thanks for presenting, Alexander!
I couldn't decide between the ceramic and steel chronograph... I like both very much...
Cool collect from Zenith
Which one is your favorite?
@@WatchAdvisor
The 40mm case would be nice
Love these new pilots
Thanks for sharing! have you seen them in real life?
@WatchAdvisor I have not unfortunately
15:25 wow when it changes from 31 to 01, the 1 stays there. Haven't seen anything like that before. Wonder if the Lange 1 is similar.
What ALS definitely does not have is that particular sound... Sound engineering with watches is definitely new so far...
yes, Lange 1 has dual date wheels. Glasshuette Original has this as well. Other brands too, on some watches, like the Tudor Glamour Double Date.
@@GoonieGooGoo910 I have seen those now that you mention it and I am now appreciating the complication. This video was my first time seeing a dual date in action. I loved seeing the jump from the 31st to the 1st.
Thanks for shedding some light
Alexander you presentation...as expected.
The Zenith Rep...top.
Watches ...very impressive
, they even have a see through back so you can watch the mechanism....😮 ...some like that😊
What do you think of the chance of a 45 mm Navigator module with no date, in the future?
Greetings from AatchAdvisor!
@WatchAdvisor AatchAdvisor? Looks like someone is drinking to much Champagne or the site has been hacked by an 👽 who cannot type W. 🤔
when they will be available on market? at least at Zenith Boutique stores? Thanks in advance
I will find out and let you know…
Please make 40mm non date and gmt version as well, Zenith! And titanium on top of that if possible
Good input, thanks for sharing...
I like the steel chronograph!
Top release IMHO...
I really like the steel chrono also but I’ll take mine with the green strap that comes with the ceramic version 😁
I couldn't decide between the ceramic and steel chronograph... I like both very much...
very thick bezel ,which makes me hop for a diver bezel version, or some sort of timing bezel at least. Like the original Rainbow. what a piece! and as always, a fantastic video!
I Love my rainbow but I have to admit that I wear it with a Nato and not with that bracelet… looks a bit baroque…
I love the crown design on the chrono.
Which one would you choose?
@@WatchAdvisor The chronograph with ceramic case and big date for sure!
Thanks for sharing!
I love these! Point for Zenith for the realising.
Thanks for sharing!
No extra dial text...Thank you! Also I think they should add a bezel & bracelet like the previous Rainbow FlyBack
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
Thank You for this rewiev!👏
Our pleasure!
Just noticed that the fly back chrono second hands stutter. Is it normal? Also noticed some slight stutter on the 3 hands version as well. The movement beats at 36,000 vph. Yet there is a slight stutter 😔
Where exactly do you see this?
Anytime when you show the sweeping seconds hands of the chrono or the normal 3 hand. Even from the beginning at 1:33 - 1:38 when the seconds hand sweep. There is like a “drag” or a “delay”
@@catch-xxii5368 The only thing I can guess is that we forgot to wind these watches correctly…
Another great review
Thanks for sharing our passion!
Very cool pilot watches!
Which is your favorite?
@@WatchAdvisor I think it’s the steel chrono with the red accents. I would like to see them in person to be absolutely sure though.
The time only is simply perfect. No multiline text on the dial. Extra font, extra readability. The only question is how thick is this watch?
It is mentioned in the video...
@@WatchAdvisor thanks. I need to watch it again :) with pleasure :)
I absolutely love these - my El Primero Striking 10th needs a new sibling and one of these has to be it. Zenith is so, so good!
Love your comment!
@@WatchAdvisor many thanks. I love your reviews - the best!
The pilot auto should have big date, or no date. Very nice release that comes up short.
I agree with the No Date idea.
Exactly. Personally I would like to see it in a Navigater configuration ( the b variant as supplied to the Luftwaffe in WW11) and about 45 mm.
Love both black versions!
Thanks for sharing!
Tolle Vorstellung, vielen Dank
Dankeschön! Welche gefällt Dir am besten?
@@WatchAdvisor die 3 Zeiger in Stahl ist oben auf meiner Liste
Hi Alex, great video as always.
Ordered a steel Pilot and requested to change to pin buckle strap.
Heard about issues with this butterfly clasp that is easy to come loose.
Can't wait to wear it.. 🥰
Thanks for sharing, please keep us posted! How long do you have to wait!
@@WatchAdvisor Was told by AD waiting time is about 4-6 weeks.
I am changing to a shorter straps due to my tiny wrist size :p
Quite a long time… uff 😥 take it easy and enjoy… there is a saying … The anticipation is the best joy …
Lovely watches from Zenith. I would have liked the all black chrono dial in the steel case. Not a fan of red hands.
More variations will follow…
The steel is so good looking! And I also like the monochromatic movement... although it doesn't quite standout with the usual El Primero intricicy and sheen.
Really want a three hand El Primero at some point. Hi-beat bargains, IMO. Probably lean towards the Defy Skyline, but we'll see what the market does to pricing later on.
Thanks for sharing! Please remember: buying a watch should be an emotional decision and not a rational one...
Bravo Zenith !
Thanks for sharing our passion, but now do watch the video...
@@WatchAdvisor Hello Alex, excellent presentention, really spot on.
BTW, you didn't mentioned plastic pointer this time 😅.
@@divjan3990 Omg 😱 my Bergeon pointer 🤣🤣
Love them
Which one is you favorite?
Yes readability is the key when you pass the age of 50! I think you are referring to your favorite Sinn 717!? I want it but still thinking about it ! Yeah this one has much bigger date! Ummmmm not bad.
Readability should be king for every watch...
Do the straps come in extra small lengths? I have a pet hate with overhanging strap ends.
Yea, they do… if needed….
Zenith, please make a rose gold version with a chocolate dial and make it limited. Then, I don’t have to buy a 5524R 😅
Will for sure come in the near future, as well as a version in titanium...
@@WatchAdvisor amazing!
@@WatchAdvisor is this confirmed??? Esp for titanium??
These are really cool.
Indeed they are! Which one is your favorite?
@@WatchAdvisor The simple time only in steel is my most likely purchase. But the big date on the chronograph models looks incredible. I’ve always wanted a big date.
Does that spring bar come out and can we add custom straps?
No it stays …
@@WatchAdvisor ah, ok. Thanks! Black ceramic chrono flyback is my favorite as well.
Now I am confused....Shd I go for the chronomaster original or the balck cermaic pilots.!!!
Try them both and compare them 1:1 and then let your heart decide it won’t lie…
Getting the steel one day
Keep us posted please!
Nice nod on the chronograph to the OG Rainbow chronograph (ie not the Rolex one!).
I have the "old" Rainbow and I love it... that said I also like the new one very much...
@@WatchAdvisor I also have an old rainbow - def a classic.
Is the old Zenith Pilot Type 20 being discontinued?
Yes they are all discontinued... So if you are looking for a specific watch you should hurry up...
@@WatchAdvisor I will. I like the old Pilot Type 20 better than the new one. Thank you for your reply.
@@richardszuban7395 My pleasure!
Nightmare, Zenith Broken Stems,Winder Problems And Zenith Isn't Backing Their Watches Sadly
Are these equipped with silicon hairspring?
No! Zenith has no access to that technology… reserved to Patek Philippe, Rolex and Swatch Group… (Ulysse Nardin is the only one outside this conglomerate that may)
@@WatchAdvisor thanks for the reply
I read somewhere that CSEM Consortium’s patent expired last year.I loved these watches. Zenith should use carbon composite hairsprings they used in the initial batch of defy 21 for their future projects.
nitpicky here but I also wish the hands were heated blue instead of plastic white
That extreme contrast is good for the readability!
No one seems to be upset with the prices of these! Sorry but Zenith and IWC are away with the fairies
All major luxury watch brands are steadily moving upwards… The upper price segment is the one that is the most successful…
the secondaryy market will bring the watches back to reality dont worry
@@pilotstyle123 Let’s wait and see…
way over priced, 5Hz isn't that special, especially with no silicon hairspring, no decoration, completely bland.
@@GoonieGooGoo910 That’s what you think… remember: tastes and wallets are different… these pilot watches will be a success… even though some don’t like them…
Is the inner of the rubber strap also rubber it is it leather?
Straps are full rubber when they look like cordura. It’s all rubber no leather in it...
@@WatchAdvisor thanks for the reply and brilliant to hear that.
@@wheelsandwatches You are welcome!
This gentleman reminds me of Jean Claude Biver, a similar passion energy
You mean Romain? I will let him know... Thanks for sharing!
what would have been a great watch for me , except for the date . No pilot would have a date on a watch, this watch is for someone who will never wear it and looks at the box warranty card etc. if I wanted to know what the date was I would pull out a phone
Thanks for sharing… tastes are different!
The phone will also tell you the time, technically 😂😂

@@steelsteez6118 would you take your phone out when someone has a weapon on you
Nice, but iwc are the best at pilots watches imo
How can you know? Have you compared them yet 1:1?
@@WatchAdvisor I meant when it comes to pilot watches most would go to iwc as they are known for their pilots watches, zenith are very good and make great watches
@@coffeeboyclips1973 They started very early to manufacture Pilots watches … just like IWC…
Don’t think so. Zenith is more innovative to me
Zenith has the patent. you wont find the name Pilot on any other dial. they patented their watch even before IWC made a pilots watch.
please get your history in line before blabbering "think so" and "dont think so"
Saludos desde 🇻🇪🍷🕥🍷
Looks like a lot an IWC Pilot.
Looks like every well done pilots watch. The design doesn’t belong to IWC, but was mandatory since requested by the military… readability was king 👑
@@WatchAdvisor i agree. What about the mouvement ?
@@walideg5304 watch the video…
I'm a huge Zenith fan - I'm wearing my Type 20 Pilot GMT right now, having previously owned a number of El Primeros most recently the Chronometro Tipo CP2 Flyback, as well as various other models - but these are really feeble attempts. Tiny, no wrist presence, they look like something from a microbrand. I really don't get it.
Tastes are different… Zenith is also targeting a new customer with the “Pilot” watches…
I like this small Watch compared to the old one.
I am a fan of the previous generation Pilot. It was unique and interesting. This one looks and feels like every other watch out there. 😑
I think different... it does look good and these new "Pilot" watches will make their way...
Not a fan of these. Pilot watches are my favorite genre. There’s nothing about these that scream “Pilot watch”. They look like a Timex. Navitimer, IWC Big Pilot… those are pilot watches. Zenith could’ve done so much better.
If Zenith would not have created its own design everyone would have accused them copying others...
Prefer with No Date.
Could be a new version later with a manual wind calibre ... and a much thinner case...
@@WatchAdvisor Owh please don't. Let's retain the automatic version, no date with a full 12-hour Arabic dial...
If this was a Rolex they would not release this watch before they fixed the “tolerance” between 55-05 min. Sloppy and unlucky.
What tolerance is that?
Rolex don’t change date til about 12:06.
Stop saying BS, I have own over 10 Rolex in my life and what you say isn't even true on a regular date...
@@vincentschneuwly9783 I don’t know if you mean me or the original poster. But all the modern ones I’ve seen are about 5/6mins after midnight. Apparently after a quick Google their range within spec is 11m 55s to 12m 10s. Loads of people talking in forums about theirs being a few mins or a bit more after 12 too.
I meant the original Poster and I agree with you 👍
Not a fan of Zenith, sorry, they just did too many missteps in the last years, both in design and in overall management of the things
Then it is time to change your mind! 😜 Remember: the glass is always half full and not half empty...
@@WatchAdvisor The glass technically it's always full, half full of water and half full of air 😆
you want to see a "smooth" seconds hand? Look at GS
But this is a “quartz” caliber
you want to see how ugly proportions can be? look at GS
@@doperdr huh?
Nice watch but the meaningless small index on 6 o’clok is ruining the balanced look. 49mm+ lug to lug is huge for a 40mm watch. I really don’t understand why brands are not focused on reducing LtL. Also there is a huge gap between the case and bracelet whis makes the watch look larger.
Still I would recommend you to go for a touch and feel... in case you do please share some thoughts with us thereafter...
"the name pilot, belongs to us. That's why you can see it on the dial" 😂🤮
I don't get the point?
@@WatchAdvisor my point is that the ownership of a word doesn't bear inherent quality. The watch looks nice, but I don't think it's nice because there is a word on it that "belongs" to zenith. It's a kind of corporatist mentality that rather remotes the brand from the customer instead of reaching him.
@@Ossory88zenith trademark the name pilot way way back in the late 1800’s and they are the only watch brand that are allowed to put it on their dials to this day. That’s what he is saying.
@@Gii1234 I am fully aware what he was saying and why. That doesn't make it less tacky.
Why they had to destroy the face with the date cheapens the look
Why does the date "cheapen" the look? Can you specify?
@@WatchAdvisor The difference between a watch manufacturer and a watch maker is light years apart . Illusion is confusion. By drawing your eye to an imperfection that is the date ,sub dials etc. you lose the beauty of the face. The art of the face
Mona Lisa. For Example . You would think it easy to request a watch with 3 hand centre second and Arabic Numerals and the watch makers name , nothing else. Yet for these you have to look at Moser, Dornbluth or Patek .Amongst only a few others. The art of the face is only owned by a few and costs the earth
Thanks for specifying! These pilot watches shouldn’t be compared to the brands you mentioned though… they are conceived to be tool watches…
Date is a must on a watch
u gotta be a pilot to afford one. what a ridiculous price for a watch! they look trash anyway. christopher ward is much better ! 😊
Tastes and wallets are different… one day you might also be able to buy one … who knows… 🤞🏼… but just because they are too expensive for you today that does not entitle you to write this …
