Thanks for the video. I also tried both and ended up going with the PGYTech as well. The deal breaker for me was that the plate for the Falcam kept coming loose from my camera over time and I needed to keep tightening it. The Pgytech has an anti slip design which keeps the plate in place.
Ahh that was something I didn't experience in my brief test! I appreciate the comment. Just used the PGYTECH for the first weekend of hiking and it is amazing
Glad it was helpful! After using it more, I realized unless you're switching bags, it pretty much just stays on there but the PGYTECH has been great for me so far!
I noticed the Ulanzi is a bit like the peak design with little width, bending the bag strap a bit to be able to fit unlike the beetle which is quite wide. Thanks for testing the products! It helped a lot with my decision.
Now that I've been using it a little longer, I just keep the clip on my bag all the time anyways so the issue I had would've been pretty irrelevant once I got it on lol
Thanks Mike a good review. However, I have a couple of points I would like to make. First I have used a similar system for some time now and think it's a great way to carry a camera whilst hiking. having said that, I have recently rationalised my mounting system and opted for the Falcam F38 system which included the Ulanzi backpack mount. So far I have only used it with a Nikon Z6III and the Z 24-120mm f4 lens, however I have no doubt that it would take the weight of my Z8 with the same lens. Although you had more difficulty fitting the Ulanzi mount, I don't believe that in a real world situation this would be a problem. In ordinary circumstances you wouldn't fit the mount whilst wearing the backpack and secondly once fitted It's unlikely that you would need to remove it that often. Finally I have to disagree with your comment regarding the position of the release button on the Ulanzi, as you hold your camera in your right hand I find it easy to grab the camera with that hand and release it with the other, ie from the left.
Hey, thanks so much for the detailed comment. Honestly, theyre both probably great. I've been happy with mine now that I've been using it and I'm sure I would have been happy with the FALCAM as well. You definitely right though - once it's on your bag, that part doesn't really matter anymore lol. I'm terms of the button, I guess that's just personal preference! Happy trails!
How are you feeling about the choice after using it for a bit? Im strongly considering the pgytech option for the thrust bearing setup it has to prevent the screw from coming loose.
I'm very happy with my choice. Now that I've had it for a bit, I realize the issue of putting it on and taking it off your bag wouldn't be a consider if you're just going to keep it on the backpack, but I do take it off because I use my bag a lot for different purposes. I am happy with it. I'll probably make a follow up video soon!
Thanks for the double test ! Have you tested the F38 plate on the Pgytech base ? And same question with pgytech plate on F38 base. Normaly it work, but it is as Smooth as original plate ? I ask because on the paper these plates have the same size. But in reality, my pgytech plate have 1 mm more than f38 and don’t work on my f38 base ( not the backpack version, just standard base) Thanks you 😀
Good question! No difference in terms of comfort with a loaded pack. The only thing I didn't like about the FALCAM was that I had a harder time hooking the clip onto my bag. Let me know if you think of anything else!
I love the way you cover every question a person could have! Great video!! 👍
I appreciate that!
I use a mix of both systems! The PGYTECH is the better bag clip. Otherwise the my strap plate and mount is Falcam!
Nice! I've been happy with it so far now that I've been using it. Probably make a follow up video!

Thanks man. Glad to see this on prime day today. Pgytech for me. The lanyard on falcam seems like it'll wear out fast as well.

I feel the same way.
got 2 Pgytechs
Clear and concise, great demo!
I appreciate the feedback! Glad it was helpful 😊

Fortunately I hadn't returned it yet so I just tested it. The F38 plate is too loose for the PGYTECH base. You are correct.
@@MikeTrachtenberg Thanks you
@@MikeTrachtenberg Did you try it the other way around aswell? With the pgytech plate on the falcam base
@@EddoWagt i use my pgy plate on the falcam base. It’s not that loose as the original falcam base.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Great video. Thanks
Appreciate that!
Just to be clear... was the comfort between the PGYtech and Falcam equivalent (it was unclear if you tested the Falcam comfort with a loaded pack).
