Freespirit Recreation Evolution V2 First Impression / Review
Is the pgytech backplate also from aluminium i read a lot that that part is from plastic!
The part of it that goes behind the strap (not the part the plate goes into) seems to be a very hard plastic and not metal, however, it seems to be high quality.
I had opposed conclusions after tried and tested both clips. 1. Pgytech is actually more difficult to install to those thinner delicate camera clip straps. it is little bit easier to install to those tick backpack should straps. 2. Falcam is compatible with many base plates include those from pgytech, peak designs and some other square arca-swiss plates, Pgytech Beetle only works with its own base plate. 3. Falcam's clip/lock system design is much better, it simply holds down the base plate from top edge , that makes it much secure also provides great combability which mentioned in #2. Pgytech's system holds the base plate at a slope ledge of the base plate at lower section, which requires special design plate, it's also not that secure which is a major problem (I will give more detail in #5). 4. Pgytech's release/lock switch design is same as Peak Designs, but being at left side making it two hands operation when you need to pull the camera out or put into clip. While both Falcam and Peak Design allows one hand operation, Falcam's down/up lock/unlock switch is easier to operate, you can use one finger to flip up switch, push in, pull out camera while holding your camera grip, when put the camera in, simply put in camera and flip down the lock switch in one continuous motion. 5. Pgytech 's clip/lock system is not secure, once you put the base plate/camera in, you can easily pull the camera out doesn't matter the release switch is locked or not if you just need to press the camera or base plate again the clip or just simply pull up harder, anyone with Pgytech beetle clip can try it, you will know what I mean. In real world uses, it may not be a big issue if the camera/lens is heavy and also clip in vertically top down, I think it will be a bigger problem when camera / base plate is side loaded into clip on waist strap or belt, the camera can be unclipped and fall out of clip accidently.
I really appreciate your detailed comment! Thank you for sharing your experiences ☺️
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate that 😊
No the hot coffee hurts more on your soft tongue.
I guess for you there's nothing worse!
Can this be hooked up to a Chromebook?
I asked my contact at Maono and this was the response: "Chromebooks theoretically support USB 2.0"
Yeah. Man. 🤔🙂
Yeah!
Thank you 🙏
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful
What makes it even worse is you will stub your toe when you slip 😭
Haha that'd be worse. You're right
Would use Peak Design, way mush better, not a Mickey Mouse thing !!!!
These are both far superior to the Peak Design one.
I didn't even consider Peak Design. I'm happy with the PGYTECH, but honestly I'm sure they're both fine
Picked up a 30 and an extra battery from Best Buy. They seem to be the only ones with stock and have all 3 sizes on a nice discount sale right now. Looking forward to getting it.
Awesome! I hope you love it. Yeah, interesting regarding the stock. I wonder if sales haven't been great? I don't see a lot of advertising for these
@@MikeTrachtenberg And places like B&H Photo say "discontinued". So, either sales weren't great, or they've decoded to just push the EverFrost 2's starting next month. You need to get one and review it, lol.
Oh my! I didn't realize they had a 2 come out! I seem to have lost contact with my Anker guy. But yes, I'll have to see if I can review it for sure! Thanks 😀
@@MikeTrachtenberg Got my 30 and an extra battery. Amazing. It's whisper quiet and with the 2 batteries options are pretty limitless on its use. Will be interesting to see what else other than the fan at the top to circulate air better is upgraded / changed / improved in the Everfrost 2's. In any event for the price I don't regret getting this one for now. For me, a real PLUS would be for the 1st generation batteries to also work in the Everfrost 2. That makes getting one a lot easier of a decision for people especially for those who invested in extra's.
🔥THANKS🔥
Glad it was helpful! 😀
Practical review. Could you please do one in a busy city environment or in a cafe? I've bought these for recording podcasts, just wanted to know what was your experience? Thanks for the review!
I would love to be realistically I probably won't lol. I'm using my mics at home 95% of the time. But thank you!
Hilarious!
Thank you so much!
The baseline hiss is pretty bad. I was optimistic about using this to record some instruments and vocals, but the hiss is so bad that even editing software and advanced filters can't cut it out very well. Editing filters can completely negate it on the stretches of track where it's quiet, but once there is any noise (vocals or instruments), the filters can't really strip that out, and the hiss is mostly just right on top of your sound. Anyways. It's fine for basic stuff, but don't expect to be happy with recording music of any kind.
Shortly after I bought this, I returned it and bought the Fifine K683a. I've been using it since and have been very very happy with it. It's only $20 more. amzn.to/422t6W0
Any concerns with the unit being exposed to the elements? Wondering if the electronics will stand up to rain or snow.
Huge concern lol. I haven't tested it in rain or snow and would be afraid to. I'd want to set up a tarp or something to keep it covered. Hopefully others can chime in if they've had experiences with it getting wet!
mini = 16 bit , link v2.0 = 24 bit
Thank you!
Funny and true at the same time! But my friend needs no weight gain or loss, he's perfect as is. Happy New Year to you and all yours, Mike!
Appreciate you. Thank you and happy new year!
Piggytech is very secure and durable, seems better built, but up to individual preference.
Exactly. That's how I felt but I'm sure they would both be nice and both be reliable
I don’t think it’s common knowledge how bear spray works. Do they ever tell people how bear spray works? Because usually people don’t know because they don’t need to. Can you call them stupid for not knowing? Like do you tell them beforehand? Sorry this is just on my mind.
I got the idea for this video because my mom thought bear spray was like bug spray!
@ Did anybody ever tell her how it works? Like Oklahoma Wildlife Center said on social media “Listen. Bear spray does NOT work like bug spray. We would like to not have to say that again.” Are they calling those who thought it stupid (did they not tell them?) or just not wanting it to happen again? I’m just confused.

trying to decide between Boya Mini, V30 and boyalink 2
I initially wanted to compare the Boyalink with the Mini but they preferred me to just review the Boyalink! The Mini won't have stereo mode (only mono), transmission range rated up to 300meters (boyalink) vs 100meters (mini), longer battery life in boyalink. The biggest deciding factor for me though was compatibility. I needed a mic that was compatible for with my Samsung S22 Ultra (USB-C) & my Sony a7iii (3.5mm jack) and the Boyalink 2 is compatible with both. Mini would only be for USB-C or lightning port. I would imagine audio would be similar for both.
Nice review. However, I would not be trying to fit a camera capture while wearing a bag. I would be more interested in how comfortable each clip was while hiking. I think the falcam has a thinner back and may win on that more important criteria. Have you tried them both hiking?
Thanks for the comment. What do you mean by "fit a camera capture while wearing a bag"? And yes - a hike test is super important. Like I said, I literally was making this video after ordering both and choosing which one I wanted to keep and which one I wanted to return. I've been very happy with the PGYTECH and I will be making a follow-up video. It has been comfortable while hiking. I did not test the falcam hiking!
Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
The Christians stole Saturnalia and pagan rituals of the yule log to coincide with Christmas. Pagan religions/earth worship was around long before Abrahamic religion.
useful review, very good!
Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the comment ☺️

Much appreciated. Thank you! 🙏🏼
you are so funny Michael!!
🥹🥹 thank you!
cool video but wow that ending is a jumpscare
😂 I'll put a warning next time
can you use the falcam f38 plate to the pgytech beetle clip?
The Falcam F38 plate is too loose for the PGYTECH base
Does the pgytech plate fit the f38? I'm looking at getting a f38 tripod @@MikeTrachtenberg
You forgot to put your car in the bag 😂😂😂😂
Ah shoot
Fantastic video. Quite detailed and you explained, very nicely, the key features of this cooler. Looks like it can be lifted easily by two people, one on each side. Not surprised that very hot weather would affect the battery.
Thank you! Yes, great cooler!!
Excellent video! This looks like a great product!!
Thank you!
Looks like a great fridge. I have a FSR EVO2 hardshell RTT like yours. I mounted 2- 200 watt CIGS solar panels to the top of my roof. They are very flexible and durable and can be glued right on top of the shell leaving the crossbars available for other stuff. These panels are not as affected by shade as much as regular solar panel and still provided the majority of solar charging even if shaded a little. It would be enough to charge both your fridge and power bank. They are pricey but work great.
I was no familiar with that type of panel! Definitely gotta look that up. Thank you for sharing 😊 What brand do you have? Thank you!

By the way, how is the stretch of the icebreaker? Were they comfortable to walk in or uncomfortable?
The stretch of the icebreaker is fine. Enjoyable to walk in 😊
Thanks for the honest review
You bet & thanks for the comment. And it's been about a year since I made the video & it's still going strong 💪🏼
I'd hire you in a heartbeat 💓 my good friend
Thank you, Satya!
Good review! Thanks for sharing this!!
Thank you!
I added a roof nest lightwing 270 awning to my EVO2 tent. I would suggest adding Ironman quick connect awning brackets so you can quickly remove the awning when not needed. My awning is under 30lbs and I found after a year of having the awning on using the free spirit awning brackets they started to collapse In on the bottom side of the brackets. This caused the awning to open pointing down. I eventually took the U shaped free spirit awning bracket to a metal fabrication place to weld a plate on the open side so it could not fatigue and collapse. I recommended this mod to free spirit but they claim to never have seen this happen but it sure did on mine and I am using one of the lightest awnings available.
I have had my EVO 2 XL for about a year. I have the same lost horizon tent with a small inflator/deflator. Works great for me at 6'3. I have similar likes and gripes. Wish it had more attachment points inside for things. I have added the cross bars on top. I also added 2 Bouge RV 200 watt CIGS solar panels that glue to the top of the roof giving me 400 watts of solar. That fit my tent perfect giving me essentially a double roof layer. I have mine on a Power Wagon and so far love the tent.
Heck yeah!!
Do not use bug spray on humans
Bug spray can be used on humans but apparently bear spray should not be!
