    Judging by the way this took to the air I'd say it was lightly loaded so may not have been using full power, but even so those engines are whisper quiet.

    I was just curious, how many times the winglets was able to flip up and down as it was not a fixed winglets than it also opened a change of fatigue, or metal failure.

    • @waveyloo
      @waveyloo 3 года назад +1

      im sure they check for fatigue or metal failure. Plus i think if they have some sort of technology to try and stop fatigue. And i think if they do spot any signs of fatigue or metal failure they’d try and fix it

      They don't move all that much compared to flaps, and flight control surfaces. Maybe even less than the landing gear depending on whether they will always fold them per protocol or not. That being said, processes for inspecting for wear are well established.

      It is not possible to take off with the wingtips folded. the plane won't allow you. also with the wingtips being hydraulics controlled rather than electronic controlled it operates like any other part of the wing so failure is very very very low. it locks into place when folded with 3 locking pins
