      Every single person is saying something different. As far as I know, Victoria was singing low harmony not just an octave lower lead. 🙈 Anyway it doesn't matter cause as it's written in the description: this is not exact line distribution as in the original but I'm sharing with you probably the only possible vocal arrangement (with five vocal parts) to deliver all the harmonies and adlibs 😉

    Geri the whole chorus but with the voice you set as tone 5.
    Emma in the high tone the chopped parts.
    Victoria in the low tone the chopped parts like Emma.

      Bass? Do you mean the part an octave lower than the lead vocal? I'm not sure about it 🤔...and also, as I said, I assigned the parts not as it really is in the original. Actually, what you'll find here is the only way to sing it in harmony without missing any harmony and ad-libs. 😉

    • @xxxTIN0xxx
      @xxxTIN0xxx 4 года назад +1

      I agree. The lowest harmony is sung by Mel B. She provides both the lead vocal and the lowest harmony. When I listen to the low notes in the chorus I hear Mel B's tone.

      Hmmm... 🤔 I'm not really sure what should I do with comment like this. Should I take it seriously? First of all I'm 100% sure I sang all the parts. Victoria is not singing a bass part... Are you a musician? Probably you just wanted to offend me but if it was serious let me know I'll try to explain. 😉

    • @chrdvr6480

      @@openmindedsinging because ya'll wanted to discredit victoria for her singing. If you pay attention to their vocal ranges she does the part of bass whenever mel b is not doing it. In the chorus part it was very glaring. Mel b was nor the one singing the bass obviously coz shes sjnging adlibs as well and her tone was high. So it was vic not mel. Also in are you for real the low part was vic and the high part was mel c. Listen to move over where vic sang the bass the deep voice on the chorus. That was she did with wannabe. I just want to give victoria a proper credit where everyone says she didnt sing at all in wannabe. It was very clear to me.

    • @openmindedsinging
      @openmindedsinging  4 года назад +2

      @@chrdvr6480 First of all this tutorial is for singers and for those who would like to recreate it and sing it. I explained that partly it was improvised who sings what. Simply to be able to squeeze in all the harmonies and adlibs 😉 I have no idea what do you mean by bass part? You probably also. You should think about the lowest part of the whole harmony. 🤔I also don't know how is it possible that you said Mel B is doing a bass part cause she's not and no one ever said such thing 🤷🏻‍♀️ Victoria's part in this video was the only part where I was sure she sings it. Cause she said she recorded a backing vocal and I can clearly hear it. 😊I have no idea if you listened to what I was saying in the video cause here I'm the one who gives Victoria a proper credit! I'm here to defend her! 🙌🏻
      For some additional information. Here is also the fragment of Victoria's autobiography "Learning to Fly": “In those early days I still felt a bit left out. I knew that I wanted to be part of the mix, but the others were so much more confident than me: Emma with years of work under her belt, Mel B being so totally fearless, Mel C taking a melody and making it really sing, Geri I’m-all girl-look-at-me. It was so intimidating - like standing in a room with no clothes on. And particularly during the early sessions, I didn’t have as much input as I did later. In fact with ‘Wannabe’ I missed most of it. We’d been working with Matt and Biff all week, but by the time Friday night arrived it was only half done - so everyone agreed to carry on over the weekend. But I had a problem. Some relation of Mark’s (Victoria’s boyfriend at that time) was getting married and he put so much pressure on me to go to this bloody wedding. I said to the girls that I really didn’t want to miss anything, but they said: ‘No, no, no, you must go.’ ‘I’ll call you,’ Geri promised. Geri and I had just bought these mobile, which were so big that they could have done duty as coshes. ‘Don’t worry. I’ll let you know exactly what we’re doing. You won’t miss out on anything.’ But I did. The wedding was somewhere near Torquay and from the moment Geri calls me I’m thinking, What am I doing? It wasn’t as if it was anything to do with me. It was Mark’s bloody family. She was great, calling me every five minutes saying, ‘What do you think of this idea, what do you think of that idea?’ But I just couldn’t bear not being there. Because whatever they said about how it didn’t matter, it did matter. Saying `Yes, I like that’ or ‘Not sure about that’ down the phone is not the same. I could have cried. I did cry, later. Because I knew, we all knew, that this song was so perfect. That ‘Wannabe’ was us, that this was it. And it id make a difference, because by the time it came to recording, performing and singing it, all the parts had been divided up between the rest of them. Yes, I did few backing vocals but nothing major. And every time we performed it I just felt like a gooseberry standing at the back not doing anything. ”

    You did it righe only for Mel B = vocal 1
    Here are the others:
    Vocal 2 = Victoria (not Geri)
    Vocal 3 = Emma (not Mel C)
    Vocal 4 = Mel C (not Emma except for the Ablips)
    Vocal 5 = Geri (not Victoria)

    The chorus are:
    Mel b + Mel c = main melody
    Emma = higher melody
    Geri = lower melody
    Victoria = lowest melody
    Do your research girl!

    • @openmindedsinging
      @openmindedsinging  4 года назад +12

      Hi! If you would listen to the whole video and what I'm saying you would probably think it through 😉First of all I did the research and some of the information I found had nothing in common with what I heard in the song. Also, you should know that here I want to create something that five voices can really sing live (not only record in the studio where you can add more layers - I refer here to adlibs). So please tell me how would it be possible to sing adlibs by Emma and Mel B without skipping the lines in their regular vocal parts? No one bothers to answer that question cause during live concerts there is simply prerecorded vocal in the track. That's why I said at the very beginning it's partly improvised and in every part I explain the whole process of assigning the parts.
      Referring to what you write you should also know that technically there is: 1. higher BV 2. lower BV and 3. main vocal in octaves (if anyone actually sings that low octave cause it might be also a vocoder) so there's no such thing like a lower and lowest melody. If by the lowest melody you mean that octave lower I'm pretty sure Victoria is not singing it. 😉
      It's so easy to criticize and write such a short comment in the answer for hours of someone's work and 22 minutes video with a solid explanation (mind it's just an arrangement that makes it possible to sing it live). Please share your research.
