thanks for the info. I've just acquired a 25L Montane Trailblazer. So slightly bigger. All RUclips videos I've come across have been for 30L. So, seeing it done in 15L is great. Although I need a cup of tea at the end of the day, so will need my stove. Cheers!!
Awesome pack and load out! I’ve been using the previous version 15L Advanced skin pro for years as my only pack. Holds 6 days of food (no cook keto) and full comfort SUL setup. Pushed it with a 7L water carry in the Australian Outback once (used my pillow as a water bladder). No idea what I’d even carry to fill a 30L bag.
Have you looked at the Exped UL Snozzle Bags? They are lighter than the Therm-a-Rest pump bag, but being a waterproof drybag you can also use it as pack liner. You do have to modify it to make the valve work, but there are plenty of how-to’s online. I trimmed the unnecessary bits off mine and it’s now only 10g heavier than a nylofume bag but includes the pump valve 👍🏻
Fast n light Scott, beats back breaking 👍 Regularly use a innov8 running pack 10lt for day treks and find i probably could get away with slightly smaller as those mesh pockets take some gear .
Definitely good video mate alot of people are going ultralight these days because they fed up with carrying the weight over long distances especially in the mountains my self I all ways use a cook system IE definitely need a hot brew in the morning or evening mate 👍👍👍👍
hey dude, im not a fast packer but really interested in the way different communities chose gear and how to carry it, from ultralight to bushcraft. If you're interested in it at all, I think you could free up a tonne of volume in one specific area which is repackaging. You had a big thing of insect repellent and a pretty big toiletries kit. If you buy 15ml LDPE dropper bottles you can can just what you need, as far as tooth paste, soap, hand sanny etc. You can also get deodorant in a paste form called no pong and carry it in a tiny screw top thing ~20ml. Loved the load out man, keep it up.
I meant to ask sorry, do you not take any insulative clothing? Or is the idea that you're either moving and sweating/hot OR basically in your sleeping bag in your thermals?
Hi, thank you for excellent review. It helps for decision to buy this backpack for winter activities. As owner of ADV 12L I can tell that is the same feeling to wear this 15L west. Did you please try to implement bladder to this vest? There is only one hole and I don't know where to lead the hose inside the vest from the bladder compartment. Have you solved this problem, could you give me some advice? Thank you very much 55 / 5,000 Translation results Translation result Have you solved this problem, could you give me some advice?
And if you go longer? Say 4-5 days? I only ask as it’s spare clothes that always blow my pack size out. I’d love to not have to take them. Thanks for the reply
@Pablo18358 Usually spare shorts and top and cycle through them. Washing when i can & hanging on pack to dry as i hike. Only doable in the warmer months.
Gday mate! I’ve got the same pack and a very similar sleeping bag to yours, but I can’t seem to get mine as compressed as yours. How the hell do you do it mate!
Seems like you evolved into legendary outdoors pokemon at this stage! Super ultralight(comparing to me) and happy with what you have, thats awesome! I am just learning camping etc and just finished John Muir Way but had a week off to recover to continue after 5 days walking as I injured my right leg in 3 places by carrying 12-14kg with just too much stuff + not the best trainers for road walking etc. Now changed my set up, ditched few things and got X-Mid + lighter pack and its ~7kg base weight so alot better but still not like you hahha But yeah its all progress with time and nice to learn from all kind trips and adventures! Love nature and outdoors, can see that you are super passionate so props for that. Anyway, stay safe and have fun.
Whoa. Awesome. Doesn't look like its available in the US yet. I use the Adv Skin 12 for trail running and hiking, but have been searching for alternatives in the 15-22L range for fastpacking style trips where I really need the extra space for more food and shelter. Thanks for the review!
OMG i've been looking to mod my NU25 just like yours for ages. i wanted a band and not strings, but without the super long stock band with heavy buckles. please where did you get that band?? that's exactly what i wanted but i could never find anything
@clmlmb231 It has a main roll top compartment and a secondary zipper compartment at the back which is split again with fabric for a hydration pack. Should fit in any really to allow you to split up the contents.
Re: waterproofs instead of separate jacket and pants what about a lightweight poncho which would go over you and pack and negate the need for trousers and taking the pack off between showers.
I've got a Frogg Toggs Poncho which is great for long distance hikes, along with a trekking brolly, but they're not so good in the mountains, especially if scrambling or climbing.
I just did adventure race with 🐸 toggs. I definitely recommend you toss pants out. Mine shredded to pieces in first 5mins. The jacket did keep me warm at night! TO WARM lol. I like the light weight poncho idea.
Mainly in the colder months, because i move so much during sleep i found myself letting heat out and drafts in. With a bag zipped up this can't happen, although i find quilts comfier. There's always a compromise i suppose 🤷🏼♂️

Yeah a brew is nice. I can fit my stove in and put my shelter on top if need be. 👍🏻
Brilliant set up and the no stove makes so much sense I didn’t really think about that really until you explained it . Awesome set up Scott.
Cheers.
Yeah for stuff like this, especially in summer, I don't really feel a stove would add anything of use.
Out of the box thinking! From fastpacking to (almost) backpacking. Great video! I ve wholeheartedly subscribed to your channel.
Thanks. Glad you liked! 👍🏻
Brilliant ! You can tell well honed through experience 😊
Thanks! 👍🏻
Great set up
Nice to see comfort
All you need really

I've got the same backpack but i found it difficuuto fit my things in, will try your advise tonight and go hiking on Saturday.
All just practise and dialing in your kit. 👍🏻
Now that is lightweight! Fair play to you Scott I’m so glad we didn’t eat at the hotel ! 👍
Cheers pal 👍🏻
Excellent! Helpful information! Thx for sharing 👍
No worries 👍🏻

I've got one, and an exped dry bag i modded too, i just haven't modded to fit the wing lock valve yet, i'd modded it for the old valve system. 👍🏻
Everything in a 15L is just exellence at its finest! the best set up ever in the world! 🫣🤯🙌🏾🫡

It definitely does mate.
It's amazing how small you can go when you dial it in. 👍🏻
This is the video I needed to see thanks!

It's definitely more pleasure able.
I could add a little stove setup if i feel the need, and definitely will in the colder months. 👍🏻

Cheers man. Yeah this is just an example, i'll only take what i need for any specific trip. 👍🏻
I wear a Senchi Alpha Direct hoodie, paired with a Patagonia windproof if required, then merino base layers if i need them. 👍🏻
Big fan hiking brolly, took one on C2C and was great, enjoyed video very informative
Absolute revelation, loved the brolly! Thanks 👍🏻
Great video! Can you attach a quiver to this pack? I use the Adv Skin 12 which does have a quiver attachment. No mention of it here?
Cheers. Yeah I believe so. 👍🏻

Sorry I don't use bladders I prefer soft flasks.
Great video, what do you do re: changing/cleaning clothes?
Depends how long i'm going for. Usual overnighters i just throw in some spare socks & underwear.
And if you go longer? Say 4-5 days? I only ask as it’s spare clothes that always blow my pack size out. I’d love to not have to take them. Thanks for the reply

If you need a 15l pack look the black diamond distance 15👍🏻

I made the band. 👍🏻
@@itsmescottp where did you buy the fabric? is it the original you shortened and sewed back?
@Carftymk It's some leftover flat elastic I had from making a rucksack.
Originally purchased from ripstopbytheroll.
Hi,sorry if i missed it,but how many days of food can you fit into this pack with all that gear?
Probably around 2-3 days between resupply.
Considering this backpack for also work commute runs. In your opinion would this hold a 13" laptop tight enough?
Just been and tested with my 13" MBP for you. Fits like a glove 👍🏻
@@itsmescottp geewt news. Has it got an internal sleeve section like lots of backpack do that would fit in it, or just a large compartment for all?

How is the bladder routing? Is it the same as other Salomon packs where it comes from under the arm?

I very rarely wear pants at all, i'm usually always in shorts.
The only time i really tend to use proper waterproofs is winter mountaineering. 👍🏻

XL
@@itsmescottpthank you, I have bought the L but am thinking I need the XL especially if I am going to have layers on under it
@@nje657 I'm 5' 10" with a 44" chest if that helps. They're quite stretchy though so you should be ok.
Yeah I’m about the same, I’ll load it up and see what it’s like. I’m always pulling a backpack tighter to be fair so it may work out okay
