His demos are great because he demonstrates gear in the context most of us will be using it in. He plays things that let us hear the gear for how it sounds...while most guitar RUclipsrs just use the platform as an ego trip and wank speed drills which helps us decide nothing.
I'm still out here hoping that this pedal format makes its way over to Deziel and Soldono. I would kill to have a vh4 style tube preamp pedal at the price of those Friedman ones.
Bro… you need a Twin Sister in your life! From an old heavy rocker and metal guy, the shear character is just phenomenal. When you’re laying down heavy rock track, it’s straight up THE sound of great rock electric guitar with all the good stuff. It almost cannot get any better. Excellent demo!!!
Great video!! I have the Friedman BE-OD deluxe pedal and the JJ Junior head….this would be a great live solution if I wanted to go direct and use my Headrush MX5 for only FX.
It sounds really well and especially in a mix. Like the IR-X it deserves a place on a pedal board. The warmth and the more vintagesque sounds is amazing.
these units are perfect for an old fart like me who just wants a standard amp set up layout without banks, effects and menu's. i recon i'd plug it into the computer very rarely to edit, it sounds great as is.
Hey I really like the "Dialing in the Controls" portion. Thanks for doing that! You're so good at dialing in those killer mixes, but it really helps to hear these pedals/amps on their own outside of the mix. Cheers!
Great review! As expected, Friedman performs flawlessly. My only minor complaint is that the guitar recording is in stereo, which gives a completely different impression. To keep it short, if I want to hear how it truly sounds objectively, I have to take off one earbud to avoid the stereo effect.
Amazing vid as always Jon! The real question: What would you recommend, the Phoenix with the SD or the Fishman pickups? I like the versatility of the Fishman set but you make yours sound so good!
Some of these products I wish you might do the opening sounds with the out of box IRs. I get that you're sponsored by Ownhammer but for like 10 minutes I'm wondering how it sounds out of the box and if we'll get to hear it with the stock IRs. I otherwise really enjoy your content
Hi im a so glad ive found your channel in these days you are an amazing artist really im a guitarist and i live in italy im 23 years old i love Nashville and country music when i was kid my name is mahdi and i love Your channel its amazing really ❤❤i play guitar every day i hope this 2024 my dreams it comes true to play guitar in Nashville its my dream with country artists its my dream ❤❤😊😊i love Nashville i hope this 2024 my dreams it comes true to find a girl in USA in Nashville with blonde hair its my dream and married her in the country ❤❤❤
Would love to see a comparison of the two. I absolutely love channel one on the ird. And I'm finding that I never use Channel 1 on my irx. But Channel 2 on the IRx is perfection. I'm wondering if I can tone match Channel 2 of the ird by cutting some bass up front.
For IRX do this. Turn the channel one boost level all the way up. And the channel 2 boost all the way down. Then leave the boost on at all times. That lets me even the levels out between the two. I also keep the channel 1 gain super low. So the chan 1 volume is usually at 10 when channel 2 is around 11:00 oclock.
it doesnt have a poweramp section like the victory pedal amps right? so i need a poweramp, an active speaker like fender tone master or go directly FOH ?
It has no power section, but it has IR’s you can use a TRS to xlr adapter and go right to front of house. I personally use a duncan power stage and orange cab. But i can go direct if I needed to
I can only imagine that an IR-J (or IR-JJ) is going to hit the market sometime before the end of the year, and I'm here for it!
Or maybe the IR-SLO
I will be there for it too!
@TimmyDarkness That would be amazing, but Soldano is a different company.
If they drop an IR-J I'm dropping my pants
I’d also love an IR-S (Steve Stevens).
These pedals are such genius. Sounds just as good as a pro studio recorded amp
Man your demos are fucking great!!! Best on YT, thank you!!!!

Great demo, that’s
molten lava tone. Love the fat bottom and searing lead tone. I boost my Dirty Shirley with a Friedman Golden Pearl for leads.
The honky crunch riffin is the DS sound to me.
Great demo. That intro track was just awesome too.
So, which do you prefer IR-X or IR-D?
I was looking to get the IR-X, but I think the IR-D will fit my needs better! Thank you. Subscribed 🙂

Excellent demo!!!
Yes, it's very hard to imagine a better classic rock sound.
Great video!! I have the Friedman BE-OD deluxe pedal and the JJ Junior head….this would be a great live solution if I wanted to go direct and use my Headrush MX5 for only FX.
Sound cool really awesome 🌟🌟🎸🎸🎸🤟🤟🤟
Which one do you prefer, this or IR-X or the Tonex One? I have the HX Stomp and am planning on using it just for the modulations.
Very lovely again. Thinking of selling my Friedman be-od dual overdrive and buy one of these. :)
Moore Susan White Lisa Rodriguez John
What are your thoughts on the new Friedman IR-D preamp?
Rules
God bless Dave Friedman for putting Boutique amp tones Within Reach of the middle class
It sounds really well and especially in a mix. Like the IR-X it deserves a place on a pedal board.
The warmth and the more vintagesque sounds is amazing.
This sounds really cool. If someone already has a bunch of high gain stuff this would be perfect to add more flavors to their setup or studio.
I think I need an IR-J!

Great video!! Killer tones and nice seeing that vintage white Phoenix! Yes, it rocks :)
Sonic Drive, which of the 2 do you prefer?

I think this fella could take a metalzone plugged into a SOLO cup and create a mix that sounded fucking phenomenal 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Great video and playing. Like the way you showcased the features. Not too much or too little
Dude do you own all those amps behind you effing incedible collection.
Does it sound anything like the Mark V crunch channel?
It DOES rock!! Nice demo
Cool review and demo... Thanks, Jon!
This sounds really cool.
Amazing vid as always Jon!

Good question but highly subjective. It really depends on your taste

I think the dialing in bit was all with the stock cabs iirc
This thing rocks!
Your guitar playing is great!

Next model is coming next summer. I forgot which but it's not the JJ. It's either a jel or a Steve Stevens.

That riff at 0:44 is awesome
Sounds awesome!

Options for days.

Nice thick tones!
IR-D vs Tonex.. hmmm.
Tonex is digital. No thanks
