Thank you for a great explanation of a topic that I was not well versed on.

Thank you so much!!!! I am grateful for your research. :)
My two plants that zippered are varieties that prefer lower light. I wonder if excess light could be a trigger. 🤷‍♀️
You live very close to the origin of Clackamas foliage! :) The first mutation showed up in Clackamas, near Portland. :)
Again, thank you!!! Great information and beautifully presented.

It was fun to research this topic! If excess light can cause hormonal imbalance, that might in turn trigger fasciation, just a guess. Wow, I didn’t know Clackamas origin was next door, thank you for sharing! Appreciate your feedback!

I never knew what this was! Or the causes. Now I have to inspect mine. Thank you !
Could you do a video sometime about streptocarus? How they compare to growing violets?

Check out this video, for my Streptocarpus demo: ruclips.net/video/FDJcLcwiG0o/видео.html! I also have a couple of individual Streptocarpus variety reviews on my Streptocarpus playlist. Appreciate your feedback!

Thank you for this info. I recently discovered hybrid AVs and I bought 4 from 2 different sources. All of them show signs of zippering 🙄.

That happens sometimes. If it was not caused by genetic mutation, I would propagate healthy looking leaves, to check if it shows again in the offspring. If not, that’s a good sign, and the next generation can be healthy. Good luck!
