Of all the RUclips videos I see of African violet Growers your plants are by far the most spectacular I don't know if it's in your microbial organisms soil treatment or what but you just have better shaped better-looking plants...kudos Chuck
I was naughty with the sunlight. My variegated violets lost all their variegation due to low light. I'm going to try to adjust them back to bright lighting.
Rick, where did you purchase your Happy Harold if I may ask? I have one similar named,( Alamo Sunshine ) but not that white in the center. Mine has more of the variegated green in it, nonetheless, yours is a gorgeous plant. Your Tiger, I also have one like that, ( Wrangler Cowboy Blues ), still a young plant but it too will be a dark pink variegated. Another variegated plant I have has more pink in the leaves, it is called Wrangler's Gunsmoke. I received mine from Texas a month ago so when they get a little time and growth on them I'll do a small video with them. I prefer the variegation over plain leaves with different types of flowers. When I ordered mine, I asked for the leaf variegation didn't care what the flowers looked like, but I am overly pleased with the Cowboy Blues flower. Some haven't bloomed yet. Marvin.
Very interesting and to learn that the variegated ones all come from one plant ! I think they're all lovely and I particularly the pink Jamaican farewell
I'm in love with each one !I never saw anything of that Colors leaves are so gorgeous! I want to buy some leaves from you, I live in Texas , please let me know how can I get in touch with you, Beautiful Job👍💖
Rick, are you using just regular commercial AV potting mix or your own special mix? Whatever you are doing...i.e. feeding, light, etc. They are doing fabulously! The plant and leaves are nice and uniform which means the light is just right. One of mine has long spindly stems because of poor lighting. If you grow violets you know what I'm talking about!
,,....thank you Caroline.......I use my own mix, very light feed, and low lighting.....I understand what your referring to....I'm more towards the high end of the light scale..
......every time I water I feed a low mix......about every 4th time... I water with fresh water...to flush salts back a bit.......if the temps dip very low I will hold back food........as they will slow growth somewhat......thanks Caroline......happy to answer...ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=oAMBIVCpnM0

Do you share anything about how you water your violets and about your use of a systemic insecticide? I am living in Lima, Perú and have started growing violets again in natural light conditions. Would lovecto learn more from you!
....to much light and they will be very tight in the crown.....they will grow still but be domed over..........if the center stem has gone brittle or stopped growing that's something different.....
