  • We've all been taught often arbitrary positions in the backswing which may or may not be right for us. The body, as usual will tell us what golf backswing is the best possible swing for you, if you ask the right questions. Here are a couple backswing golf drills you guys can put together at home to answer that question for yourselves and get better at golf. If this Zen Golf Mechanics video helps you, then please like the video and subscribe to see more of Zen's golf tips and tricks!

    A friend taped my swing last week without me knowing. I got a true view of the difference between what I THOUGHT I was doing and what was actually happening. My right elbow was completely stuck to my side- almost no “real” free backswing and all timing &follow through. Watched this last night and warmed up on the range with it in mind this morning. Best striking and scoring round of the season. (And ever!). Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    I practiced the drill before each swing on the driving range ... And a golf light went on .. finally felt how side bend feels on the back swing. Then on the course, gained distance with all clubs ... Result a great under 80's round ... Many thanks Marcus for yet anither brilliant video.

    An absolute gem again Marcus. Brilliant presentation as always. This is most probably why I feel "jammed" in my BKS. Apparently I have a "Tour" practice swing like many of us, but when we try to pull the trigger everything looks stiff and dead legged. For me it gives a very laid off flat short swing. I really understand the need for me to rotate going back but reality is different, maybe all the Pro teaching, weight on the inside of trail foot, go for the X Factor, increase disassociation of hips and thorax, upper body takeaway focus,etc. etc! Really appropriate lesson for us all with a pretty practice swing (so we can actually achieve a good swing) and a restrained wooden reality! Can't wait to try to regain that freedom that has escaped me in my game. Many thanks. You really can play great swing. Tom

    A friend of mine who plays off 6 asked me to look at the top of his backswing because he was concerned about the club position and where to set it as he was experiencing inconsistency in his ball striking. I have just shared the link for this video in the hope that gives him an appreciation of the difference between setting the club at the top in a static position with the arms and arriving there dynamically as the result of an intent to hit a certain shot.

    I had lots of questions, but your video answered them- brilliant and easy to do and self check! This is probably what older self taught pros did and over the years,teachers filmed and captured positions and then developed averages for each so called point or position - the wonderful P. So we chase the positions and “moves” or devices to lock and achieve the lag, drag, angle, torque or whatever. Oh brother. Are you sure there isn’t a p-3 in there somewhere?

      In my perception I feel like the side bend of the body and the bowing of the left wrist is something that should happen automatically due to inertia if the downswing is started correctly ... can you maybe make a video about that?

    I've worked on rotating verses swaying based on your previous video's and it's been a big help, but I still had room for improvement. I tried the simplest solution to getting a better turn today that came from Lee Trevino who was advocating this especially for us seniors. I simply took my normal stance, then shifted my trail foot backwards just a touch and flared it a little and it worked very well. I gained maybe half a clubs distance without trying and the small fade I've been hitting was cut in half.
    While I may be getting older, I'm in good shape and my ability to turn is still pretty good. But this made a fuller turn feel natural.

    • @GRFGolf
      @GRFGolf  2 года назад +1

      That's awesome! One thing that (might) be worth keeping an eye on is to make sure that back foot doesn't creep too far back, and instead moving the ribcage around the ball also. But whatever you're doing now is clearly working so keep at it!
