I mean when you have missles shot from Iran as well gaza which is next door its pretty heavily used, in fact there's multiple videos of multiple rockets being shot into Israel and the iron dome striking many of those missiles down, personal friends of mine have taken videos of missiles being shot down by the iron dome, I'm not sure many other countries can say that they have a missiles defense system that's as regularly used as Israel's which is practically 24/7

It must be said however, that the iron dome has only been tested against the primitive projectiles of Hamas/ Hezbollah.
It's completely unknown how the system will fare against a "near peer" technological threat , like terrain hugging cruise missiles, hyper/ super sonic projectiles, and munitions that don't take a simple parabolic ballistic path, like most of the things that have been fired at it.

Iron Dome isen't designed for that but a fluid system that can be widend by new radars and interceptors.
Still sophisticated threats also need sophisticated supply chains and lunchpads, and that's more vulnerable to israeli recon and intel.

For everyone who says that it is all US tax payer money, it isn't.
The US produces the missiles for the system (and began using it as well) so Israel either buys it or gets it as part of the aid from the US.
The aid from the US doesn't come as money but in form of weapons that worth X money which is equivalent for less than 10% of the current defense budget of Israel. Not only Israel gets aid from the US but so does Jordan, Egypt, NATO countries and more. And this aid actually produces tens of thousands of jobs for the Americans, a thing which actually contributes to the American economy.

If anyone is wondering how Israel can afford such an expensive system as well as one of the most technologically advanced armies, free healthcare and education for its citizens, all while being a small dessert nation with very few natural resources;
It's because they receive more aid from the US than all other countries combined. Their entire economy would collapse overnight without the US and yet they have sold more of our confidential technology to Russia and China than any other nation, including enemies at war with us.
They have been caught attacking US targets and attempting to blame their enemies in plots to drag us into wars they were preparing to start with their neighbors.
We receive nothing in return for funding their military in perpetuity and their presence is destabilizing the other wise homogeneous middle east and is the reason people in the area have so much animosity for the US, a distant country they otherwise would have no interest or concern with.

I can't help but think the "dome" part of iron dome is the more sensible part of the name to carry over for a defensive system. When I hear "iron beam" I think of I beams used in construction. 'Searing dome', 'burning dome', 'laser dome', heck 'thunder dome' would have been much better names for the laser ams.

All y'all are wrong here lol The US is a currency sovereign; we can issue funds for both taking care of people and establishing our national defense, just like we currently do with the defense budget every year: 1) Set a spending goal, 2) issue funds, 3) manage inflation thru the following year's taxes.
That's what we already do, but most of us are stuck thinking in a family budget format where the money comes first. Government just needs to keep the currency flowing instead of getting stuck in one place.
Even a crack head buying drugs is helping the economy more by circulating that money than those hedge fund billionaires trying to stuff as much of it as possible into their panties.
So easy to make the iron dome obsolete. Just have to load it with stuff like white floferrous or stuffs that when it is hit or at impact the chemical inside the rocket or missiles will rain those chemical over a wide area. To make it more deadly. If tiny explosive or some sort of mechanism to trigger the chemical cover even more distant.

The Rockets and question are unguided. Most of them are going to land in empty terrain with no people or buildings. More than half of rockets fired are categorized as non-threatening because they’re not going to hit anything important.

Not really. The iron dome is only really good against short range rockets. And can only cover a relatively small area. Good for Israel who needs to protect its densely populated land but not so much for Ukraine who needs to protect a vast area against a variety of threats of which short range rockets are a small part.
It’s not, Iron dome doesn’t have a very large coverage. It’s perfect for a small country like Israel, not for a large country like Ukraine. What Ukraine needs is about a dozen patriot systems backed up by a few dozen medium range and short range SAM systems. That’s enough to cover the entire country plus the frontlines
