    I don't think the conversation Walt had about the cigar with Hank was just to find out if it was illegal so he could do it and feel good. I think it was more he was feeling out Hank and how strict he really is with his outlook on drugs etc.

    Just so you guys know- Im sure somebody else already left this comment or will- but there was a writer's strike in 2008 and the BB writers and producers had to cut the season short to 7 episodes. There are really 2 more episodes left of season 1, but because of the strike, they had to roll them over to season 2. The next two episodes are really the final 2 episodes of season 1.

      If you have a craving for Cuban cigars, you should come to Canada. We don’t have the same embargo and can buy Cubans in any cigar store. Not sure about the rules, but I’d imagine you’d be ok legally as long as you didn’t try to go back to the US with them.

      I've worked in 2 restaurants that sold cuban cigars...One in Texas, one in Miami. Both restaurants were high-end 4/5 star fancy places that alot of celebrities frequented. I was a bartender so I was in charge of selling them. Even though they were illegal, no one ever bothered us about it. Especially since the clientele included many politicians. I believe the embargo has been rescinded now if I'm not mistaken. I've smoked cubans several times but I was never really impressed. I think the allure was that they were illegal since there were many legal brands that were much better, IMO.

    Cuban cigars were illegal before the current US administration and the current Cuban government worked some things out. As you know, the Cuban government is a Communist government, especially when it was under Fidel Castro. The US had an embargo on Cuba. Hence, any item or product from Cuba was illegal before. Currently, they are not illegal to bring back from Cuba or to posses, but I believe a person may not sell them in the US.

    • @coffeeveins
      @coffeeveins 5 лет назад +1

      Well if you’re right, that answers my question from another thread. If you’re allowed to bring them into the US, but just can’t sell or buy them inside the US, then anyone living near the Canadian border can stock up since they’re sold in regular cigar stores here.

    I know it’s been years but something I just noticed for the first time rewatching, Walt literally watched the metaphorical representation of what the “pure” poison he’s so proud of does to thousands of his consumers/addicts. And this is the first time it was blue, his international signature in the end.
    We can always just chuck it up to Tuco being a psycho and would have killed his goon whether he taste-tested the meth or not or whether it was because of it was the “blue meth” reveal but as soon as Tuco takes a bump, immediately kills his own man.

    Steven you're partially right on the Cuban cigars...most of it is due to the trade embargoes between the US and Cuba, but there are a few brands of Cuban-made cigars that allegedly include some marijuana in the cigar, so some brands were considered illegal (at least at the time of this show being made) for that reason too.
    I just love this show because the science that Walt comes up with to fix their problems is actual science that works in the real world, not just a bunch of Hollywood BS...thermite is real, and it will melt straight through pretty much anything you put it on; if anything, they underplayed what thermite would've done to that door.

      @@leoyt4008 I think even if the writers didn’t strike, they would have changed the original plan so Jessie survives. Vince Gilligan said in an interview that he knew by episode 2 that Aaron Paul was too good an actor for them to kill off Jessie.

    An Idea of what you can do for season endings of Breaking Bad. Hard to go heel/Babyface in this show since the babyfaces are the heels in this show!😸 Instead should list your favorite moments; i.e my favorite Walt moment would be when he blew out the windows, or your favorite Jesse moment could be when he melts a body in his bathtub. Skylar moment for me be when she fakes it to get out of the shop and avoid arrest, shows she has a capacity for this too. Hank's moment I would go with his big drug bust we see in the first episode, that gives Walt his idea. Just a couple of examples. Those Four are to primary for second one, there be others in the next seasons

    💙 I read an interview with Samuel L. Jackson and he was talking about how much he loved Breaking Bad and would have loved to be in it and they asked in which role, and he said, “Tuco, of course!!” I can see that.

    I can't believe I'm enjoying this. Now I feel like a total dumbass for passing on this show. I'm looking back at the times I've seen the award shows throughout the years and seeing Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and the tv show win a few awards and thinking what's the big deal about a show about people making meth? If only I had someone tell me then that it's more than that. Now I find myself going over to Netflix to watch the show because I'm hooked to the story, especially what's going to happen to Walter White. I'm glad I'm watching this show now as oppose to never even giving it a try. Thank you guys. BLUE HEART! PEACE!

    When Fidel Castro took control of Cuba and declared Cuba a Communist Republic the U.S. Government banned all trade with Cuba. Cuban cigars were already considered some of the best tobacco products in the world, but making them illegal made them extra special on the world market and jumped up the value (on black market). Another thing this trade ban did was drive the price of sugar to the U.S. up so high as to cause
    U.S. manufacturers (Coke/Pepsi exp.) to seek out alternative sweetening agents. Thus high-fructose corn syrup replaced natural sugar as main ingredient virtually all U.S. made sweet treats. It has been argued that the sugar ban is directly responsible for the U.S./World problems with diabetes over the following decades.

    I wanted to say one thing you guys should pay attention when watching this show is the colors. The colors all have a meaning to them when the characters wear them . I would recommend you don't do any deep research until you get finished watching the show though. That way you won't be spoiled of any upcoming episodes. But one thing you can notice pretty easily now is that Marie always pretty much wears and has something purple on or around her. Anyways I'm happy you both are into this and enjoying the ride so far ! YEA SCIENCE!!!
