Same. Picked up Nocturnal from my local Wal-Mart in '07 on a whim and fell in love. What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse got my attention and Deathmask Divine solidified my love for the band. Incredible album to this day and probably my top contender for favorite death metal album.
Derek J. Yeah every member brings a new flavour to the music. Ryan was definitely a great add. Even John when he was in was that sound we knew them for, but John became a asshole from what I heard. Brandon is very technical and is bringing a very melodic upbeat progressive sound to the band. I still dig the new album. Retains TBDM sound while adding a new feel.

I’m Gen Z (hate to say it) and grew up on pop and country, in fact I never had someone influence me into rock and metal and I introduced it to myself when I started learning guitar 5 years ago… So given that; I had never listened to TBDM or anything like them until I read about Trevor’s death in a Loudwire article and I started doing some digging into his music. This band has absolute talent in every aspect and wish I could’ve seen and enjoyed them while Trevor was still here. And yeah, this song is killer!!

Then listen to Ritual, where they've dropped down to a more standard level for a metal album mix. Then listen to this. Each album, they get dropped further and further in the mix. As a guitar player, it drives me insane.
I don't know how I'm barely getting into this band. But I just watched their "Fool Em All" doc and I'm loving them more and more. Trevor sounds like a bizarre amalgamation of Dennis Lee and Nicholas VonDoom and I'm loving it \m/
People definitely do. However, this type of music just isn’t for everyone, and sometimes people just grow out of it. These guys used to be one of my favorite groups, but I kind of slacked off ninety-nine percent of all metal I used to listen to. Partly because it got old, and partly due to noise anxiety. It’s fine if you like it, but I think there are definitely better genres out there. It’s funny because Metal is such a fast-paced genre, and now I’m listening to a bunch of eighties music, and slower groups like Red House Painters, lol.
I remember when my brother said he once saw these guys at Mixtape in Grand Rapids before they were big, and said it wasn't a good show (likely because it was a shitty small venue lol), and today here we are, both massive fans of their music.
