7dayspking Deathcore has breakdowns. MANY. Breakdowns. Sometimes several per song in case you hadn't noticed mr elitist. You're pretty much saying Black dahlia murder are a "pure" deathcore band because they fit your little definition of deathcore being "late 90's suffocation with metalcore structure and tone colours". That is nothing close to what Black Dahlia is. The Black Dahlia Murder are a melodic death metal band. The chord progressions and melodies in many songs on Unhallowed are HIGHLY influenced by Swedish Melodic death metal, even though they have confidently kept that core and developed their own sound on the most recent albums. If you're going to label every palm muted groove riff a breakdown, then the majority of death metal would have "breakdowns". Yes, Black dahlia murder have groove, but it's a death metal influence, no breakdowns. To be honest, Cannibal are closer to being a Deathcore band than Black dahlia, who in my opinion have become more brutal, punishing and technical than Cannibal ever have been. 7dayspking Face it. Black dahlia murder is a fantastic death metal band, just because they don't look like 40 year old swedish guys with ratty old entombed shirts on doesn't mean anything. They don't need to have a certain look just to please the fearful elitists.

How many punk and hardcore kids are now straight up death metal fans because of these guys? :)
Unhallowed was the first death metal album I had as a kid in the early 2000s. RIP Trevor, you beautiful bastard. You'll always be a legend in my heart and the entire reason i became a vocalist in the first place. You've helped me in so many ways, including turning my tendencies into art. It's done wonders over the years and i'm genuinely grateful to you, sir. This song started it all.
I remember this song from years ago...I've just recently started jamming Black Dahlia Murder again, but this is definitely one of my favorites by them.
saw them 15 times on concerts, fan since 2004, most live viewed band in my life, metal head since 25 years, still under my top 3 bands, sharing so much memories related to their songs
Trevor was an absolute gem, totally gutted to hear of his loss. BDM started a journey for me into new subgenres of metal in my early teens and been a staple ever since. RIP brother 🖤
Holy shit.. they all look 12 in this video. This is back when my band was touring and we SOOOO looked up to these dudes even tho they were all like 5-10 years younger than us. All of our friends in other bands were trying to replicate A7X, Atreyu, KSE or All that Remains back in this period... but we just wanted to jam with TBDM and Amon Amarth , lol... Lamb of God kicks ass too. So much good metal in the late 00s. I'll forever regard that as the golden age of my life. Sigh... memories These guys will forever rule the metalverse. RIP Trevor and thank you for the outstanding (and often hilarious) metal.
trevor in cologne you touched my sweaty hand to this song. i was a fkn fool and washed my hand. regrets and admire run through my chest everytime i listen to this perfect guturals. nothing but heartbroken in memory of a genuis & handsome, talented ... also always kind person
I'm 41 as well but still alive. Trevor died at 41 of age. So sorry to read the news this morning. Depression, addiction to alcohol. Maybe he has chosen to let go. Trevor, we wil not forget you!
It's crazy because most of their fans don't know anything about Swedish death metal. Dismember , carnage, Entombed , At the Gates, wombbath, God Macabre , Grave , unleashed etc...
i owe my melodic taste to the black dahlia murder. They have literally evolved me musically. And this song along with elder misanthropy was the beginning of a journey i will be forever grateful for. Thank you BDM
I was a major TBDM fan. Trevor is the reason I started doing vocals way back fucking when. This album imo can't be beat. RIP Trevor. Gone but definitely never forgotten.
One of my all-time favorite metal bands since the days I was in high school, with me getting into them not too long after Unhallowed came out and this was all over Jamey Jasta's Headbangers Ball. They've come a long way into their career and I'd always get their latest albums whenever they'd come out ever since, but this will always be one of my all-time favorites from the band. To say that it was saddening upon hearing the news about Trevor Strnad is a huge understatement. He was one of the most selfless people to create metal music, always promoting newer bands while also discussing about 90's metalcore and death metal staples, and during the brief time I've chatted with him when showcasing my CD collection, he even hooked me up with an mp3 copy of Verminous around the time it was released after congratulating him and mentioning that my copy was in transit. I'm glad that Brian and the rest of the band are keeping their name alive after his tragic passing, but he will never be forgotten, whether it was with The Black Dahlia Murder or his contributions outside of the band.
9+ years later and this is still one of my favorite songs of all time. Nothing beats this brutal intro. Used to have so much fun covering this song and watching my friends try and hold those blast beats lol. EDIT: Who's listening in 2018?
RipTrevor. This song was the beginning for me in the world of heavy music and my MySpace profile song for the longest. Thanks for gracing us with your unmatched talent
Guitar solo for this song has been my ringtone on and off for many years. I met Trevor in early 2000's, I (an introvert) didn't say much to him but he sure was a nice dude!
I remember my friends band were recording an ep in the same studio at the same time as this was being recorded. I heard alot of this before it was ever released and how cool to see this band earlier into the growth of a metal powerhouse that they have became! RIP Trevor and props to Brain and the guys for keeping this going🖤
That's the first one I've heard. And I fell in love with this band and this sort of metal music. This kind of music got me over my darkest times. It saddens me so much these days to know that Travor is dead. I hope someday we'll cure depression and alocohlism as best as we can together. No one is alone with this. Please talk to people. There's always someone who truly understands the pain that you're in and there's always a way out even if it might take some years.

My nerves are twisting for the light of my salvation
I rest beneath where i remain as cold as clay
Eternal pain is swelling in my joints
Somewhere within me a flame is slowly born
Inside this shell of bloated flesh grows life anew
Infernal, the moon distorts my mind
My veins jolt back to life, pushing the fluids of the damned
I seek to bathe my fetid flesh in crimson spray
My body writhes without consent of conscience
I lift the lid the pounds of dirt shall not subdue
I shall walk the earth once more
From beyond the strings are pulled
I know not what has made me this way
The animation of my rigid corpse
I shall abandon my coffin of premature fate
All the words of the preacher
All the tears of my family in vain
I shall again walk amongst them
My penance with blood be repaid!

Can never forget being 13 years old hearing this for the first time and absolutely changing my outlook on metal music
This metal is better than most stuff today I’ve been hearing, I gotta go back to this 🤘🏼
That's what I have done
First time listen to this in 2008. It's 2019 now. How time flies...
Flies is good too
bruh i remeber when this track dropped, it hit different. if you where around at that time you know exactly what i'm talking about.
BrUh
R.I.P TREVOR
Seguramente esa vez fue en el extinto Hard Rock Live
RIP Trevor, you beautiful bastard.
You'll always be a legend in my heart and the entire reason i became a vocalist in the first place. You've helped me in so many ways, including turning my tendencies into art. It's done wonders over the years and i'm genuinely grateful to you, sir.
This song started it all.
Thier music got SOOOO much better.. can't wait for their new stuff!!!!
I remember this song from years ago...I've just recently started jamming Black Dahlia Murder again, but this is definitely one of my favorites by them.
i like this album the most.
Rip Trev this video was the first one played the first time I discovered mtvs headbangers ball. Great memories.
I'm so glad I was growing up with this song.
RIP Trevor. this song changed so much for me when i was just a kid. thanks for everything
saw them 15 times on concerts, fan since 2004, most live viewed band in my life, metal head since 25 years, still under my top 3 bands, sharing so much memories related to their songs
Trevor was an absolute gem, totally gutted to hear of his loss. BDM started a journey for me into new subgenres of metal in my early teens and been a staple ever since. RIP brother 🖤
100 times better than anything out today.
Facts
I just love how young they look here
Holy shit.. they all look 12 in this video.
Sigh... memories
These guys will forever rule the metalverse. RIP Trevor and thank you for the outstanding (and often hilarious) metal.
That intro still smacks as hard as it did back in the day. RIP MY BOY 😢 😔
This was the first song I ever heard from this band. I am still impress in 2016
@ColoredSpaces
Franklin Bluth same here
when i was 15 years old, this song was from my favourites of all time! lml
fuck yeah! xD
Brandon B hellzzzzz yee
Im still 15 and this song fucking rips
I was 12 when this song came out I've heard about them back then i just nvr was too heavy back then...
I was so damn impressed when I heard this back in the day... turns out 14 years only made it better
trevor in cologne you touched my sweaty hand to this song. i was a fkn fool and washed my hand. regrets and admire run through my chest everytime i listen to this perfect guturals. nothing but heartbroken in memory of a genuis & handsome, talented ... also always kind person
I'm 41 as well but still alive. Trevor died at 41 of age. So sorry to read the news this morning. Depression, addiction to alcohol. Maybe he has chosen to let go.
Trevor, we wil not forget you!
The Black Dahlia Murder were pretty much just Americanized At The Gates during this time period, and I couldn't love them more for it!
It's crazy because most of their fans don't know anything about Swedish death metal. Dismember , carnage, Entombed , At the Gates, wombbath, God Macabre , Grave , unleashed etc...
SHALL WALK THE EARTH ONCE MORRREEEE.... i love how he casts spells with his hand whilst he sings
i owe my melodic taste to the black dahlia murder.
Always and forever listening to BDM! 🤘
Some great memories of seeing these guys live several times. RIP Trevor
9+ years later and this is still one of my favorite songs of all time. Nothing beats this brutal intro. Used to have so much fun covering this song and watching my friends try and hold those blast beats lol.
EDIT: Who's listening in 2018?
2022🤘
R.I.P Trevor, you made great music that had a massive impact on me growing up... Hope you are at peace 🤘 😢
I love this song. I remember seeing this video on Headbangers Ball.
Headbangers Ball is still around? I thought MTV hadn't even had music on it for at least 15 years.
Of course not. He's talking almost 20 years ago.
I remember my friends band were recording an ep in the same studio at the same time as this was being recorded. I heard alot of this before it was ever released and how cool to see this band earlier into the growth of a metal powerhouse that they have became! RIP Trevor and props to Brain and the guys for keeping this going🖤
The song that started it all for me, way back in 2003. Jesus, Trevor, we're gonna miss you. You were too pure for this world.
The solo hits every time! 🤘
Whos listening in 2024 🎉
Damn right. I still have the metal blade records sampler I first heard this masterpiece on
Indonesian death metal
Eu desde os primórdios kkk
I will never not be listening to BDM.
We here big dawg this shit is still tough as fuck
easily one of the best music videos in the genre. these guys are great
It doesn't get much better than this.
I'll never forget seeing this on Headbangers ball, Thank you so much for taking me onto my metal journey. RIP Trevor, A LEGEND.
Song still slaps after all these years I'm devastated though R.I.P Trevor ❤️
0:36 will play on loud speakers when an intruder hits the trip wire in my front yard.
Una de las primeras bandas con las que me adentre realmente en el género, con esta canción los conocí y me parecieron brutales, pasó más de una década y mi respeto sigue.
Descansa en paz Trevor, te recordaremos como una leyenda.
I hope you know how much you are loved and missed.
One of my favorite TBDM songs, RIP Trevor
What’s weird is I just listened to this song yesterday after not hearing it for Atleast 12 years.then today I find out about Trevor.sad day. RIP legend.
Still kills 98% of the shite coming out today.

facts
Not a fking song comapred today .. SAD
That breakdown in the beginning is filthy
Glad it's not a typical deathcore breakdown haha
@@hey6982it's melodic death metal
RIP Trevor Strnad - this was my introduction to TBDM and I am forever grateful for their influence and music. Heartbreaking :(
I can't explaine how much I love this song!
