I never made a ton of friends in college. Most of my friends I made as an adult are people I work with or have worked with... or people I talk to on the internet :) There's almost never an overlap between people who are into the same stuff I am and people I will meet in my daily life, so that's what the internet is great for! It’s a learning curve is what I’m thinking. In high school you’re in an environment that fosters bonding as you’re locked in the same building for a third of each day… with college I RUN off of campus as soon as I can every day 🤣 so I’m not helping the situation for sure

Online, it's much easier to find people who share those kinds of interests and seek out those kinds of communities. When I was 10 I made some internet friends in the Winx fandom and I'm still friends with them to this day. Online communities are so amazing, I just wish it was easier to find "your people" in real life too.

If you don't end up making any connections, at least you have other ways to make friends down the line to look forward to.

Like you said, there's really no overlap between stuff I'm into and people I meet. Not only am I older than most of my classmates and have lived a little life, I'm a commuter student and an introvert with niche interests. I'm essentially, the "wrong" kind of nerd. My best friend now is someone I worked with (she's moved states) and aside from her, one other friend and my boyfriend, everyone else I know is online. The internet is great for -- as you mentioned -- connecting with others who share your interests because we're more confident to express them online knowing we can find others to talk to.

We’re really lucky to have online spaces to communicate in but it’s very lonely in real life 🥺

Sorry for being weird and spammy, but I finally had time to sit and really watch and listen all the way through and wanted to add that I totally hear you on the PEOPLE involved in events. I don't really broadcast it, but I'm a Titanic enthusiast and have been since I was about ten and that's one of my favourite things as well, getting to know the people involved in everything, from the initial blueprints to the building of the ship, to the passengers and crew involved in the disaster and even those that located the wreck in 1985. I've watched some amazing documentaries. One about the builders of the ship, another about a group of Irish immigrants traveling in third class and another about the men in the boiler rooms and what they did when the ship was sinking and they are some of my favourites I've seen so far. The human element just brings it all back and makes it real again for me and I love the immersion that comes with it. And it's SO CUTE you wanna take Brett and your brother on a cruise like that! One of my life goals is go on a transatlantic crossing (Southampton to New York) with my BFF on Cunard's Queen Mary 2. She hasn't done a whole lot of traveling and never like that, so I really want to share that with her. Also, I forgot to say when I got it (It came super late, actually. I think it got lost in the post) I LOVED my Leggy picture! And thank you SO MUCH for the thoughtful note on the back as well!
Ohh abt the frog thing… yea here in PR people make all sorts of things involving “frogs”. Cus The coqui our national Animal or something like that I forgot

There's this one place called the Three Bears that I practically have to drag her out of!! (They specialize in dolls.)

Then my friends I do have moved, but we're trying to do small stuff this year, like going to lunch at American Girl!

My issue when I was little is that my birthday was in the thick of vacation season and everyone was out of the country (I lived in a richer area than my family actually was at the time due to an inheritance). It always suuucked for me so we never tried anything after I planned a 20+ girl sleepover and three people came… who all lived on my street and came over all the time 🤣 we had a lot of fun though so it was okay but I was SOUL CRUSHED for sure
