I should have gone to Wendy's
You should have 😆, I was disappointed when I saw that yellow wrapper. Great film.
Yes but even better would be A&W. It goes A&W, Wendy’s, and then McD’s. Let’s not even include Burger King, are they even around/matter.
We ate at Wendy's tonight.
@@chris_sparrows sounds like a good Wednesday

I love the idea of trying to shoot the shot you like instead of banking the idea for later. I never remember them later.
Yeah and then I watch the thing again randomly one day and I’m like OH YA I FORGOT
PLEASE KEEP DOING THESE SHORT CINEMATICS...
Loving the A7 IV content and dig the message.. you're making wanna grab my A7 iv and just go shoot for the fun of it!
Ayy man, your short film is amazing, it shows how you could turn something as simple as going to order a cheeseburger and eating it into an immersive experience, sound design also pulled me in, it was compelling .
Appreciate it, Lefa 🙏
I really like the idea of actually recreating references that you’re really drawn to- good stuff as always, Patrick ✨ also yes, the latest season of Master of None is well, masterful in many filmmaking / storytelling respects
Your "The Making Of" section is exactly what I realized has held me back from shooting things. I also just finished watching your GH6 review, and your hatred of the BMPCC 4K is lifted from my nightmares. This has absolutely sealed the deal for me to get the Sony.
The interior car stuff actually reminded me a lot of the look of "Prisoners"
The music really sells the story too. Excellent choice to go with the story of just ordinary things transpiring.
Thats was dope, nice job. The colours look very good!
The execution on these references is insane.
I feel the same way about my new A7iv…just want to go out and shoot all the time!
i got to say ur my new favorite film maker youtuber i love this !
Amazing video! Dope references too! I love my A7C just for those same reasons you mentioned, just makes filming myself so much easier than using my previous cameras.
Great stuff. The power of your inspiration compels me.
I’m definitely going to try this sometime soon while watching movies and TV. Loved the mood!
I just found your stuff and Its the best thing I've found in 2022 hands down.
thanks, Bryce!
This was so AWESOME!! Love this little short film! I am getting the Sony A7IV this year and this just makes me even more excited to film with it. Great Video and I just subscribed! 🎥
Thanks Denny!
Fun vid- glad you’re enjoying the Sony. Keep making your reels.
Cinema was made! Love it
Opening shot is amazing 🤩
Love the footage
Finding inspiration in everything 👏👏
I think you nailed this dude. Great feel on gear that's unfussy to shoot with. Thanks for the inspiration.
cheers, Ryan!
Absolutely Stunning. And the Soul Music makes it even more compelling 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the inspiration to just go shoot more. 🙌🏻 Loved the vibes on this one Patrick!
Cheers, Nolan! Always enjoy your vids.
@@impatrickt Thanks man, right back at ya!
The sound design and background storytelling in the first half is perfection.
Thanks man!
This is awesome!!great work!!
That was fun...like legit fun to watch.
The colors are beautiful
new tutorial up on my channel on how I did it!
loved the commentary totally agree just get out there and make and never realized how much autofocus is overlooked
Love the color grade! :)
That was very insiring dude. I am in a spiral of demotivation right now and you helped me to get back 1-2 levels. So thanks a lot!
I know the feeling! hope you're back up a couple more levels soon.
You a beast with the camera & editing bro,I can't wait to get to your level 💯🎥📷💥
This slapped
Nice colors!
This is tight! The rokinon 100mm macro is pretty sweet. Have fun and keep sharing
I actually really love the opening shot. So sick man!
Thanks man!
That was well done! Dope!
Appreciate it!
Just as you are inspired by some movies, I get a lot of inspiration from your videos. Storytelling, style, everything is beautiful. I'll take a footages too! Happy New Year Patrick!
Cheers!
just for that intro music alone i smashed like button immediately!
As a fellow Sony a7iv user who just switched from Panasonic - I share the enthusiasm for wanting to create more with this camera. Those shots you got seemed like they would've been easy with manual focus on S5 since the focal plane stayed the same in both shots but if Sony is speaking to your creative heart that's priceless. I am excited to be able to move in the frame and keep focus - a shocking freedom when coming from DFD autofocus.
yeah its not really about moving for me - its about setting the shot up to begin with. finding your focal plane by yourself is almost impossible without a shit load of trial and error. this I just put face on and sat in the car and then remotely turned the focus off with the app.
Strong Vince Vaugh in Dragged across concrete vibes while you were eating
I just found your channel today and your style is awesome! subbed and that bells on for every upload, keep 'em coming. Cheers!
Welcome aboard!
That's literally my go to order.
Haha, bro- good job all around. Thanks for posting this. It gives a lot of perspective from a film maker testing out scenes.
"for the art." love the outro
Wasn’t sure about the vid, completely sure about the message. Good stuff as always bro.
Great advice. I see things in cinema that I want to shoot and never do. Goes in my head and I never try. I saw some sequences in better call Saul and true detective that I’ve always wanted to do.
hell ya. two great shows.
The start was like a dash cam video but 10x better!
I love your honesty about that cheeseburger! haha this one's great! I have a ton of screenshots from movie scenes that I really love to kind of mimic and incorporate with whatever content I'm puttong out there. Thanks for this tip and reminder!

Super great message to act on inspiration as soon as you get it. As a photogrpaher, the x100v is that pickup and create camera for me when I want to test out ideas
I have the original and the T. Still shoot with them all the time.
Hi I just discover your Channel, love it.
What's your codec for shooting this ? Slog3 ? Did you use after a simple LUT ? or a full color graduate ?
Great vid, really enjoyed it. Completely amazed at how stable the footage was while the car was driving.
The ibis really helps the micro jitters.
@@impatrickt How was that shot made?? Just a tripod in your back seat?
@@ZoeRikardo yeah theres a BTS shot in the video
That’s why i use my R5 all the time now it’s pretty much replaced my BMP4K - the ability to just go out and bang on the autofocus and not have to worry about the fact that it will hit it’s makes every single time. Makes creating on my own so much easier. It’s not going to replace having manual glass for client projects (yet) but for stuff on my own great autofocus is a game changer. Keen to see how much better the Komodo gets as it evolves…
Great video. As always. 2 questions: 1 - how where you able to keep your tripod stable when you were driving? 2- I love the color on your videos. How do you do it? Thanks and keep it coming.
I just put a tripod in the back seat - color link plug-in is in the description!
I had that Samyang 35mm 1.8, the 18mm 2.8, and also the 75mm 1.8 -- very good lenses on the Sony system!
Super inspirational video. 🙌🏼 Brand new sub. 🍻
GOOD SHIT BRO
Hey! Love the video. I have the a7iii, I switched from the a7sii, and gosh I don’t know why, maybe it’s only in my mind, I haven’t felt like (till this day) to do cinematic stuff with the a7iii. Something about the a7iv makes me wanna go back to shoot cinematic stuff. I don’t know what exactly. Maybe it’s the 10bit and flip screen combo.
What do you think?
And btw I have the 35 1.8 as well and it’s looks amazing in your video 🙂
This was great. How did you get this look? Was it all color grading in post?
pick the right time of day to shoot
just great man! im waiting to see more of vintage style shots with a7iv.
i keep searching for videos with a7iv that looks like film, and if the time shows that ,yes, is posible to achive film look with a7iv,
and editing skills of course, maybe then i sell my a7iii and go for a7iv too.
Youre shoot hall thing at manual focus right??
Everything in this reel was shot on the a7iii. You can make any camera look like film now. ruclips.net/video/ymIcHRR2J3g/видео.html
Very nice ! I’m so torn, either the A7SII or A7IV. How’s the rolling shutter?
hasn't been an issue once for me
I bought filmbox this week.. totally worth it..looks great for your video
yeah its so good. the one thing I always struggle with is whether or not to add grain. im kinda into the cleaner look right now but with the film tones. its so good.
@@impatrickt agreed. Another thing I've seen people do is use dehancer grain with filmbox as some say dehancer grain is better. Good to have so many options.
@@ChrisJohnson-wl2kg yeah even resolve's built in grain is surprisingly good. I have dehancer too but I haven't used it as much as filmbox.
Sickkkkk 🔥
Thanks!
Thanks for this. I've been trying to come up with ways to keep shooting with my A7iv. Like you, I am very happy with what I've been getting out of this camera. I'm working on some content for my channel around my needs as a filmmaker with respect to the A7iv. So, thanks again, for inspiring me to just grab my A7iv and shoot. Subscribing.
Nice film! Did you video the whole cheese burger film with the Rokinon 35mm F1.8 len? This len is good price, I should try it.
its pretty garbage but its cheap so who cares
Once you were looking for a place to eat I half expected it to turn into a detective story.
Looks great!!!
I could not spot any rolling shutter issue. What recording settings did you use? Is it 4K or 1080? Is it full frame or croped sensor (super 35mm)?
full frame 4K 24
I want a cheeseburger
The new triple at McDonald’s is so good.
I loved this and the colour grade is so nice. How did you get the shots inside the car, do you have a car mount that you could reccomend ? thanks
its just a monopod in the back. thanks!
@@impatrickt no way ahah. How do you mount it and get it so stable?
when you showed the Sweet Virginia visual I thought it was from your short for a second
Such a good movie. Thanks man!
Hey PT! Quick question, what device do you use to mount your camera in the car? I love that shot!
just a regular old tripod! thanks for watching
Great exercise! It's definitely one of the best way to learn.
(though I wish underexposing wasn't so fashionable, I keep returning to the comparison shot at 7:05 to relieve my eyes for seeing no whites over 50 IRE)
I refuse to have any highlights over 50
hahah this is mad ❤️⚡🕸️
Very good video my friend. I have the S5 I know the struggle haha
Years ago, in film school, most of my films & assignments all had scenes that take place in cars, with the camera staged in the car shooting out towards & thru the windows. Even before I even decided to be a filmmaker I loved movies that had scenes shooting through windows for the frame within a frame composition. So whenever I see that scene in Sweet Virginia or similar scenes in other movies like Gun Crazy (1950) it always reminds me of those days.
Deakins did some great ones in Prisoners too!
@@impatrickt Yup, definitely…Coincidentally, I was attending film school at CalArts at the time that movie was released. The campus wasn’t exactly close but wasn’t too far from a movie theater screening Prisoners so, being without a car at that time, I walked my lazy a$$ to go see it. I remember being all sweaty watching that movie for the first time. Did the same for Drive and Spring Breakers a year or two before lol
@@emilianoo.1596 I saw all of those in theaters. love all 3 films.
@@impatrickt Because of the length of that walk, I was super glad all those movies were worth the trip because it took me really wanting to see a movie in a theater to take that walk since CalArts has a ridiculously dope film library. There I could basically watch any movie I wanted in the comfort of a quiet, air conditioned room. That film library was basically my second home lol
Awesome color tone! Btw did u use a mist filter on the first shot?
thanks! everything but the talking head has some cheap mist filter from amazon on it I think its by K&F
Cinematic burger run
hallo! could you please define the dimensions for 4:3?or u use black bars?
Now I want a burger ... and it's only 9:36am
I love a radioactive cheeseburger.
ich hätte nie damit gerechnet das du mal mit der Sony a7IV shootest^^ total verrückt
müssen das richtige Werkzeug für den Job verwenden
where did you mount the camera while driving and which tools or gear did you use to that mount the camera. Also wouldn't the exposure change in different lightings while you were driving, how did you get the colors so perfect. Man its amazing.
It’s just a regular tripod. I put it in the back seat. Exposure didn’t change thankfully because it was overcast.
@@impatrickt o awesome thanks. Sony a7iv is just great
Ngl i was like wtf did i just watch after watching the short. Then i watched the rest of the video 👏👏
if that was your first reaction then my job here is done
Not to be weird , but I actually enjoyed this. I enjoyed watching you enjoy a burger .
I need to find a super sketchy overpass to eat my burgers under 🤔
How are you editing the A7iV video files? I just learned they are not supported by the latest MacOs, nor the free version of DaVinci Resolve. I think you use a Macbook Pro, too. Is there a specific software for the A7IV?
works just fine in resolve and FCP. there's nothing special about a7iv's video files from any video camera.
@@impatrickt The raw format of the A7iV are not supported by the latest MacOs, Monterey. Maybe it just means I can't open them with iMovie? I can edit the raw files on a Mackbook pro with Resolve or Final Cut Pro? Which one do you recommend for a beginner? Thank you so much.
Loved it, looks like such a sketchy spot to pull up for a cheeseburger tho hah
😂 you can see me look over my shoulder concerned while eating the burger because I started to realize where I was and all the weird machinery that started going off
Are you using slog3? Love it by the way!
Thanks :)
Yeah
@@impatrickt I’m really new - I have this camera and a bloody love it. I’m just quite nervous about colour grading ha!
Do I need to do much or can it be simple? Thanks :D
Patrick, do you know if there is a way to see the length of video clip during playback? Its annoying to play the entire video in camera just to know how long it is. Any idea?
I don't think so
This is art.
What do you use for the microphone during the short?
built in mic’s in the camera. i only needed ambient.
That was good …the 2 cheeseburgers… ! Lol! 🤣👍😉 Nice remake !
Now I will have to go and shoot with mine 😉👍

H&S 👩❤️👨🌈🇨🇦
All the way from Dundas and Bathurst down to the Ex. Hope your cheeseburgers stayed warm. Cheers!
oh it was very cold and nasty
Can you also share what type of headrest mount that is?
its not a headrest mount its just a tripod in the back seat
@@impatrickt ooo nice. Thanks for answering my ?s
What happened to "would you like fries with that", bravo on the colour feel.
Always for the art 😂
Can we talk about that brilliantly subtle shift from 16x9 to 4x3?
glad you noticed it!
@@impatrickt literally the first thing i caught- pretty masterful IMO =)
Hey Patrick what did you use to hold the camera steady in the car?
I just put a tripod in the back!
Oh wow how did you install it. Just curious.
@@enzoamendola5650 I just put between the rear seat and the front two seats
Looks like the 7IV is being a good muse. 🍔
