Perennial Sow Thistle - Sonchus arvensis
A similar plant is annual sow thistle - Sonchus oleraceus.
Did I find prickly lettuce!? Nope, I didn't. I found perennial sow thistle - Sonchus arvensis. Sow thistles look fairly similar to prickly lettuce - Lactuca serriola, but one way to tell them apart is sow thistle does not have any prickly on the midvein or midrib of the leaf. Sow thistles are also edible and have some medicinal uses such as making a tea to help calm the nerves and to help relieve asthma, bronchitis and coughs. You can also chew sow thistle flowers kind of like gum.

I luv making medicinals from wild lettuce it works great for pain and I can make some glue from the latex and it smokes well too as a smoke herb with mullein and rose and lyre leaf sage ❤

I like to try and grow any kind of thistle, they attract bees and butterflies when they flower, and most are medicinal and pretty!
