Cool, but people need to know that riding clipless doesn't make you a pro, the same as riding flats doesn't make you Sam Hill... XD so just try both and whatever makes you feel better.
Maybe it's a ramp/guide so that if you set the cleat down too far forwards you can easily skate back into the clip instead of getting jammed in the cage.
Late to this- but it’s a ramp to help guide your cleat into the mechanism and prevent false positives. They were in prototype/development for nearly 5 years or so, and they’ve just been released on the new X3 pedals!
1:41 whoa! i never noticed that shifting is different when the frame moves etc. I only notice it after a crash or something. quite interesting stuff to hear
I’m not really sure that makes a lot of difference? There’s cable slack on the bike’s cockpit, and where the cable connects to the RD, and the cable and cable housing is practically the same length so they stretch/bend the same amount so... I’m not really sure? I’d be happy to get educated.
wow just one of them on flats. I only ride flats and have no plan to switch, but that is just me. I am surprised that there arent that many riding flats.
Mid air? Likely not; but you'll likely unclip as you go over the bars. :) I personally injured my foot that took almost a year to completely heal due to SPD when I came to a stop. It was night, lost my balance for whatever reason, and one of my feet were next to a rock, so as I started tipping over I could not unclip and my instincts caused me to pull so hard on my foot to get out of the pedal that I seriously strained my foot and fucked something up. I have heard of worse stories due to similar circumstances. I corner much faster on flats anyway, even when on a road bike. Just that added comfort for me. Flats for life!
Whenever you are adjusted and have ridden a couple of months on clips you automaticly draw the dots when you crash, hardest part is picking up clips and starting to use them. Im a flat pedal rider myself and 8 years of experience on flats will take a long time to adjust to clips.
as far as i know the if u get over the fact that u have to go sideways to clip out and learned to commit to the clip, than there are quiet a few advantages, like easyer pedaling (and enduro has quiet a lot of that), you can place the the backwheel like you want because the pedals dont leave the shoes, these are the ones that gather right of the top of my head. the biggest downside are, that you have to commit to beeing cliped in :D and many dont like that, plus that if you dont learn proper technic first, you fuck up your riding style really fast i think most of the downhill guys ride clipless too now, as long as bailing out of your bike is not a main concern (like RB rampage) on pure performance clips are better - as long as mental things are not a problem i personally can not imagine to ride clipless.. to scary
I have SPD on my XC bike but I just can't get myself to commit to clipping in on my enduro bike to punch down a near vertical rock garden. The thought scares the shit out of me
@@BensMis-adventures having my feet get bucked off my flats on those rock gardens scares the shit out of me... It's why I'm considering leaving my Crank Bros flats behind and going with something that locks my feet in place... Conversely I've been abusing my flats for 3 seasons now with a couple pins snapped/missing and the edges of the pedal are worn down smooth... I pedal strike too often 🤣😂 Maybe I just need new flats this year.
Sebastian P personally riding flats is too scary. When you ride spd long enough clipping out becomes second nature. When I am crashing my feet come out faster than my hands block my face, like it’s instinct. But if you’re new to Clipless that won’t be the case so it takes a while to learn that instinct.
Sam hill knows!!! 😁

Glad someone said this. It seems everyone thinks the guy winning must have the right idea. Forgetting he is just a freak of nature.
Why does Rick always look like he has just come out of a tumble dryer?
I know, I was like, dude, what happened to your face? Must have ridden without his chin bar...
I prefer Richard Cunynghame, the previous presenter. Hes more lively. Rick looks exhausted most of the time haha
I'm with Sam Hill I tried SPD's and I didn't like them. Okay maybe I never tried them but I love my flat pedals I even have them on my road bike!
I'm with ya...I like taking my feet on and off the pedals too much.
There is no advantage to flat pedals on a road bike so your shooting yourself in the foot there by missing all the proven advantages
"I've never tried them, but I don't like them". For fuck sake
@@alfieritchie8446 Agreed! There is a legitimate safety discussion in MTB, but on the road, clip in bitch! ; )
Yup flats all the way for mtb i hate the feeling of being caged. Tearing an ACL increases drastically when clipped.
Sam hill is Just pure Comedy😂😂😂
Next up : How Do the Enduro Pros Set Up Their Socks?
Why don't you show the real secret mechanical tricks. Bolt tightening sequence and suspension installation
Could you ask about tyres and pressures?
I’m with Sam flats forever! I tried SPDs and didn’t like it. I also crashed a bunch because I couldn’t unclip fast enough.
Robin Wallner is my spirit animal. Duck feet
Ric you should start using a full-face helmet :D
I just put my pedals on my bike and ride
What is with the First guy's HT pedals (@0:33)? Why is there an extra bit of metal on them? Is it to make them more like the HT X2 SX BMX pedal?

im sure pros feel it. us common folk? maybe not so much.
If you haven't noticed it, it isn't a big deal.
The cable runs on some bikes caused binding during shifting when the bike was at full rear suspension compression.
I learnt something here too. I never knew this, but it makes sense.
Carolin and Anita .. Do we really have to choose first? ))
What's that black plastic bit on Martins helmet?
Airflaps. So you can push the goggles off your face to let some fresh air in.

Enduro pro’s what?
SAMMM HILLL!! What's the funny black plastic black on thing on Martin's helmet?
When pressed it makes his massive balls go in his butt for better clearance when riding rock gardens

@@xmazurx I feel the same. I see to much bad things from being clipped in. Plus I like to be free.
How easy is it to bail mid-air with clip-ins? My biggest fear of switching is not being able to hit the eject button when I need to.

You can get out of them in the air I do it a lot lol. Once you get the muscle memory it’s second nature.
Sams bike is so nice definitely best pedals too
At 2.40 idk bout that one🤨
They set them flat :D.
Flats forever
OMG those twins hello ladies riding Norco nice i have a Norco
Foots 3 sizes smaller than the other foot.... WTF
Did anybody notice the guy peeing in the Bushes

I never realised that enduro riders use clip shoes. I always thought they use flat

Do you know why is Sam Hill winning almost every race? Just a because od the flats 😁👌
I’d say it’s more cause he’s a madly skilled rider.
