I first saw Heaven Sent when S9 had those little tidbits where they show fanart and comments as people watch the episode, and everybody was freaking out (myself included) when the Doctor was gravely injured and trying to reach the teleporter, dreading the death of Capaldi's doctor in his greatest episode to date.

One of my favorite tracks from the entire show. This piece is criminally underrated. I'll never forget the scene where the Doctor slowly crawls to his death while this music is playing. The entire episode was hauntingly beautiful. Might sound like an exaggeration, but I think that Heaven Sent is one of the greatest pieces of television ever written, period.

People always get it wrong with Time Lords. We take forever to die. Even if we're too injured to regenerate, every cell in our bodies keeps trying. Dying properly can take days. That's why we like to die among our own kind. They know not to bury us early.
I think, in my current condition, it'll take me about a day and a half to reach the top of the tower. I think. If I'm lucky, I have a day and a half. I have to do this, Clara. It's the only way. I have to be strong. I should have known from the very beginning. Of course. The portrait of you, the creature from my own nightmares. This place is my own bespoke torture chamber, intended for me only. And all those skulls in the water. How could there be other prisoners in my Hell? The answer, of course, is there never were any other prisoners. And the stars, they weren't in the wrong place, and I haven't time travelled.
I've just been here a very, very long time. Every room resets. Remember I told you that? Every room reverts to its original condition. Logically, the teleporter should do the same. Teleporter. Fancy word. Just like 3D printers, really, except they break down living matter and information, and transmit it. All you have to do is add energy. The room has reset, returned to its original condition when I arrived. That means there's a copy of me still in the hard drive. Me, exactly as I was, when I first got here, seven thousand years ago. All I have to find is some energy.
And all you need for energy is something to burn.
How long can I keep doing this, Clara? Burning the old me, to make a new one?

Funny thing. This is the one and only episode of Capaldi-era Doctor Who I've watched (well, bits and pieces of Face The Raven as well, but that's it), and I can't remember a time when I've cried harder at a television show. His performance was simply incredible.

numpteez I honestly don't know. I didn't watch the later half of Smith's era either - I simply fell out of love with the show, for whatever reason. I hope to get back around to it someday.

One of Murray Gold's best tracks during his time as compser for the show.
Now I really want the BBC to release S10's soundtrack any day now. The music he composed for the final episodes is just wonderful

The scenes of him mortally wounded, struggling to reach the teleporter room and talking to Clara (himself) was perfect. What a godlike episode.

I started watching Doctor who when Capaldi made his debut. And for the longest time, I had always thought the Eleventh Doctor was only given one more REGENERATION, instead of a whole new regeneration CYCLE. So for my entire time watching Twelve (including this episode), I thought Capaldi's was the LAST Doctor. So seeing him mortally wounded in Heaven Sent had me begging for this to not be his end, because I thought the series would end with him.
And in a way, he was the last doctor, because in Series 10 he wound up incorporating a lot of facets of ALL his previous incarnations into his performance before he regenerated.
Either way, Heaven Sent and its soundtrack (along with Capaldi's entire tenure as the Doctor) never fails to incite an emotional response in me. It's phenomenal to say the least.

As a Liverpool fan, at least during the Hodgson era the club was financially all over the place, most of our best players were leaving and H&G had to be forcefully driven out of the club in disgrace. So there was genuine excuses as to why we were so bad
Chelsea being this bad after spending so much money is as tragic as it is hilarious
