"How many seconds in eternity and the Shepherd's Boy says, there's this mountain of pure diamond it takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it, and every 1000 years a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the Diamond Mountain, and when the entire mountain is chisled away the first second of eternity will have passed. You may think that's a hell of a long time, personally I think that's a hell of a bird"

Except….children. Children can hear it. Sometimes - if their hearts are in the right place, and the stars are too. Children can hear your name. But nobody else. Nobody else. Ever. Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind. Doctor - I let you go."
During the point when The Doctor was saying all of that, I was mentioning the names of the Companions from New Who which The Doctor had traveled and lost as a tribute to them. "ROSE TYLER! CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS!MICKEY SMITH-JONES! PETER AND JACKIE TYLER! MARTHA SMITH-JONES! DONNA NOBLE-TEMPLE! AMY AND RORY WILLIAMS! BILL POTTS! CLAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Thor1160 they didn't bother me that much.... Those helped me picture the whole scene.... But I'm soooo glad I'm listening to the cleanest version possible, the *actual* original!
Angelica Cutajar oh agreed! It’s still a little surreal for me! What’s interesting too is it seems like some of the heaven sent music Is cut a little different, so there’s still value in listening to the full episode of music.
The funny thing is, it may officially be called 'The Shepherd's Boy', but to us, it will always be 'Breaking the Wall.' I've been waiting two years for this moment.
I never expected to like the official version this much, I use to think people over hyped the music used in the breaking of the wall scene like "meh I can just listen to the version from Day of the Doctor" but boy was I wrong. Also now EMS Productions can use this instead of the unofficial version.
After countless extractions, the first second of eternity has finally passed with the clean soundtrack released. Thank you BBC, Silva Screen, Murray Gold, and everyone else who got this soundtrack out for us.
There’s this emperor and he asks the Sherperd’s Boy, How many seconds in eternity? And the shepherd’s boy says there’s this mountain of pure diamond it takes an hour to climb it! And an hour to go around it! Every a hundred years.. a little bired comes.. and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain, and when the entire mountain is chiseled away the first second of eternity will have passed!!!!! YOU MIGHT THINK THAT’S A HELL OF A LONG TIME, PERSONALLY I THINK THAT’S A HELL OF A.. Personally I think that’s a hell of a bird 💙
I'm convinced there cannot be a better piece of music to capture who 12 was. I'm really glad they chose to make it the main piece for his regeneration scene.
"Oh there it is, Silly Old Universe, the more I save it the more it needs saving, it's a treadmill. Yes, yes I know they'll get it all wrong without me. I can imagine in a later episode a companion waking up to the sound of a large crash and a yelp of pain. They bolt up and rush to the sound to find the doctor standing in front of a wall with an obvious hole in it, silently nursing a bruised/ bloody fist. What’s the matter doctor? Ever heard of sleep walking? This is sleep punching. Just an old habit, never you mind.

I hadn't really noticed before how much strumming of the guitar was in this piece. What a wonderful, beautiful choice of instruments. I love this track!
I've seen the show so many times that I can't hear this song without feeling what I felt watching it. I love this song so much but it always makes me cry.

I wonder what takes so long to release Doctor Who soundtracks, when movie scores are released almost immediately, and on some occasions right before a movie is released. Maybe because there's so much score to release? All the music for series 9 is brilliant, especially for Hell Bent & Heaven Sent. I dunno, but I do know that the Avatar/ Korra score soundtracks are *far* overdue. Sure we got S1 of Korra, but that's it...

The Pocket Dimension GENERAL MISQUOTI
One of the best soundtrack ever composed for a TV show
"One of" has no business in that sentence.
primo It pretty much also beats out a lotta movie soundtracks
And when the entire Series 9 soundtrack has been released...the first second of eternity will have passed!
I can't help reading that comment in Capaldi's screaming voice x)

The Canary Wharf one didn't make sense cause they were from another universe. Probably an oversight by the writers.

THREE BLOODY LONG YEARS WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THIS ONE
+Rachel Wyld
Well, two and a half years.
Heaven Sent was released in December, remember.
Actually late November. Good point though.
I agree. It's just the Whovian community has got so used to calling it that because it had no other name.
I'm proud my title became that popular ! I didn't even think much of it I just chose a random name to be honest haha.
I never expected to like the official version this much, I use to think people over hyped the music used in the breaking of the wall scene like "meh I can just listen to the version from Day of the Doctor" but boy was I wrong. Also now EMS Productions can use this instead of the unofficial version.

*One more second of eternity later & we will have the season 10 OST*
After 3 BLOODY LONG YEARS OF WAITING! It's here. Only we have to wait until the 27th to get album
We've waited this long. If we're patient to wait that long, three weeks will fly by in the blink of an eye.

One of the best pieces of music ever written for television. I could listen to this on loop for 4.5 billion years.
(in the 12 Doctor voice) *THE FIRST SECOND OF ETERNITY HAS PASSED!*
Best song Murray Gold every wrote, fitting that it is the last one played before he left the show.
I need to do something impossible. Thankfully Murray Gold has made a soundtrack to accompany exactly that sort of thing.
I'm convinced there cannot be a better piece of music to capture who 12 was. I'm really glad they chose to make it the main piece for his regeneration scene.

Not sure why.. but that section of the melody at 3:15-3:35 to me, is just the essence of the show - the orchestration there is just superb.
I can just imagine a scene in an upcoming special, where all the New Series Doctor's come together in one room to fix something together at the end of the episode.

"There's this emperor, and he asks the shepherd's boy how many seconds in eternity. The shepherd's boy says, 'There's this mountain of pure diamond. It take an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it. Every 100 years, a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain, and when the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have passed.' You might think that's a hell of a long time. Personally, I think that's a hell of a bird."
