I bought an X-T1 about 3 days before I saw this video. I’m just getting back into photography after being away from it for decades. (Still have some vintage cameras) I bought the xt1 because of the old style controls on top. I went blind in one eye a few years ago, and I can not see very well out of the other one. It caused me to have a motorcycle wreck about 3 years ago, and cracked my spine in 4 places and compound fractured my clavicle and broke all the ribs on one side. So now I’m disabled and can’t do very much. But I can take pictures. My biggest challenge is the blindness. I can get around some, and I have a steel plate in my shoulder now, and still have the cracked spine, so I don’t ride very much now. I have to use the live view screen and depend on auto focus a lot. But the idea of using vintage lenses really appeals to me, and I’m going to try it. So far I love the X-T1, and I’m learning how to use it. Thanks for all your videos. They are very helpful to me, and very inspirational. Thank you.

just came to say thanks one more time. Found an X-T1 at a bargain for 190 pounds, a bit beaten up missing eyecup and 1 button sometimes acts up, but overall working good. And i have to say I've never had more joy taking photos. Initially put a 24mm f2.8 vivitar and immediately took fantastic pictures. I'm fully addicted to the classic chrome, and I've never been happier with a camera. Thank you so much Nigel!
I have had my XT1 for a while. I kept it even after upgrading to the XT2. Have since traded in a lot of other digital gear and through all of that kept struggling with selling off my Fuji gear. I could not bring myself to do it for a lot of reasons, most of which you noted in this video. Most recently I acquired a TTartisan 35mm f1.4 manual focus in X mount and mated to either body is about the most prefect combination I have ever used. This is the closest I have come to the experience with my old film cameras. It feels right, and the quality of the files is just great. I hope you keep the XT1.
Just a week ago I have bought a used xt1, replacing the xt10 that I had happily used for about six years. In the first place I only wanted a weathersealed version. But I was surprised how much better the feel, the speed and the usability of it is. So coming across your video (just a very little late) I can only say: AGREE. What a robust beauty.
I picked up an X-T1 after watching your video referring to the Fuji X Weekly film simulations. And I LOVE it! Using it with nikkor, canon fd and Pentax lenses, plus I picked up the OM Zuiko 28mm f3.5 which you also recommended because most of my vintages are of the 50mm range. Use the Nikon bodies, full frame and Z6 so I thought I’d have to settle for a lower quality viewfinder and LCD with the X-T1 but it’s surprisingly good. And the flip screen is excellent for landscapes which is the main use of this camera. A few primes in a draw string bag, and a smallish light tripod along with this camera make for a great walk about kit for landscape work. I’m loving the film recipes and haven’t done any film work since I’ve gotten it. It’s definitely a keeper! Thanks for all that you do...

I do love my X-T1 and X-E2 with the same X Trans II sensor and processor. The X-E2 is my every day carry with either the 27mm or lately the 35mm f2. I agree there is just something special about the X-T1. I would keep it.

I love this camera more than any other camera Ive ever owned. Expensive Nikon and Canon DSLR's have fallen by the wayside since I got this in 2015. I've used with decent Fuji lenses and have immensely enjoyed my photography like this. Great review as usual, brilliantly presented and a pleasure to watch.
I’ve been through the Fuji X-A1, X-T100 and X-T20 and I’ve just bought an X-T1. I had a Fujica ST601 50 odd years ago (!) but stupidly sold it to buy a guitar (I was young!). With the X-T1 I feel I’ve got my old Fujica back plus all the modern benefits of mirrorless, auto focus etc. I think I’m going to love it! Glad I’ve found your channel, subscribed.
I have my XT-1 for 6 years now.
I have two friends, one with an XT-2 and another with XT-3. I took the same shots with the same lens at the same distance and lighting indoors, and used the same software to open it on my computer, and I have to say that I prefer the colors from the XT-1. Each upgrade is about 1/3 or 1/2 a stop better, and the ISO can be pushed higher.
Personally, though I love using it outdoors, I can't use this camera indoors to take pictures of my kids playing, and for that I go for my phone. That's the reason why my next camera will be a full frame, but if you are looking for a nice camera for the outdoors in daylight then its an awesome one.
You're not the first I've heard to say this - it seems many prefer the look of images from the x-t1 over those from later cameras...
Why can't you take photo indoors, what are the limitations? I think this camera is totally capable. Also agree that nowadays a phone is also more than enough

I love finding great deals on the used market, Fuji owners rarely decide to sell their cameras even after they have Upgraded. I was lucky enough to recently get my hands on the same camera and lens X-T1/15-45mm. ($300 USD) I Picked it up for my Vintage lenses and Film simulations, but I have to agree that the kit lens combo impressed me with its sharpness and minimal focus distance. Just sprung for a Fuji xt-1 silver graphite after watching your vid and trying my pals camera over the weekend. Most impressed, love the "analogue" quality that I'm looking for with my vintage Zuiko lenses. Your input has been invaluable...the x-t1 definitely feels a step up from my Olympus EM10 which, after getting on this journey, feels like a bit of a toy in comparison to the Fuji. Thx for all you do for us.
I could not agree with you more. I own several X-T1 bodies and I actually prefer it over the X-T2 for the film like characteristics of the imagines. There is something magical about the way it renders colors. I love my X-T1s and would highly recommend it for someone who only wanted to shoot stills.
People laughed at me when I said I preferred X-T1 to X-T2 and X-T3. Glad I'm not the only one )) I bought it in 2014, switched from Nikon and never looked back. Was bit by the upgrade bug recently and.. bought a vertical grip. What a nice grip. Cost me £35 )))

I'm your subscriber and highly appreciate your channel - I started with Fuji-X when I decided to buy the XE1 in early 2013 - it gave me the tool to come back to photography and use my old lenses again. It can work fully manual!!! - Over the years I collected a large group of Pentax, Helios, Zeiss (and others) cameras and lenses, some of them in different variations like Helios and Pentax Super-Takumar. The only AF lens I have is the 18-55mm, which fills all my needs for "practical photography", covering around 28-80mm. For beginner's Macro, the Pentax Super takumar and some basic rings work wonders, together with the focus aids provided by the FUJI-X systems, at least for me. If necessary, I also have my old telephotos.
Then, I bought a used XT1, one year ago. It's an incredible camera - it offers much more of everything compared with the XE1, maintaining the Fuji-X spirit intact. The digital viewfinder is incredible!!! - I still use the XE1 a lot, couple it with an M39 Jupiter 8 and you have the lightest setup for classic photography: due to the smaller length of the converter when compared to M42 or Nikon converters.
I think I will never sell those 2 cameras, actually, I toyed with the idea of upgrading the XT1 to the XT2 as the XT2 can run the much appreciated ACROS simulation, but in the end, I like the XT1 more and we can tune the monochrome to get close to the ACROS. Agree: great work by fujixweekly.com. And the fact that Fujifilm continues to support the older versions of sensor and processor with firmware updates is also a joy.

Dear Zenography, thank you for your video on the X-T1 (not only for that, I really appreciate your work and your style).
I got the X-T1 some month ago, it was a spontaneous eBay deal - and what should I say: it brings the joy back, the pure and simple joy of REALLY taking pictures... I got a Lumix G9 - great camera, a fantastic tool, by far the best digital camera I ever owned. But it lacks intuition, it's not supporting creativity - or to say it how it is: it does not feel organic in my hands. The X-T1 felt "right" from the very first moment, I unwrapped it, took it out its sad bubble foil in an old shoebox - and it was mine.
I've been shooting for 40 years, was for quite a while a press professional, so I guess I know what I'm talking about.
Whoever got the chance to get a cheap copy: GO FOR IT.
And don't be afraid of the prime prices for Fuji lenses - it works perfectly with vintage and cheap and cheerful Chinese glass...
Soon I'll get footage on my channel... work in progress as I'm trying to define my YT style.

I know what you mean about the xt1 feeling right - it just seems complete in itself, really tight and together, and I do like those dials, a real mechanical feel, albeit a simulated one. As for a yt style, I'd say find something you feel comfortable with and it will emerge. Good luck!

Been using an X-T1 for almost six years now. Sent it back to Fuji for a cleaning and to ensure weather sealing was up to par. It takes pictures as well as the day I got it and I can’t see a need to upgrade.
I have been using my X-T1 with vintage Minolta lens for the last two years and I just love the results. Thank you for another great review.

Me too! I bought one when it came out though, still love it. The Minolta 45mm F2 Rokkor-X is perfect for this camera.

I own three Fuji cameras- X-T2, X-T20, and X100T. I got an insane deal on the X-T20, and it came with two kit lenses. XC16-50mm and XC 50-230mm. I thought they would be rubbish, and I'd sell them, use them for paper weights or door stops, but I was blown away by them. I kept them both and still use use them frequently. Beggars belief.
I've found that kit lenses are often unexpectedly nice!
I shot with an X-T1 for a while, liked it so much that I traded it in to upgrade to the X-T2 and... didn't like it as much. The 2 was much nicer to use in a lot of ways, but there was something about the images from the 1 which I really liked. The X-T1 was an absolute dream with vintage manual lenses.
I feel you!!! I kinda just got done with photography during covid and sold all my gear. I have an XT2 now but I just don't enjoy using it the way I did my X-T1. Maybe it's just nostalgia for when I enjoyed photography but I feel like the images just look so much more organic
Just bought the Graphite Silver Edition (GSE) August 2023, virtually NIB (16000 shuttercount). Company to X-pro2 (Black & GSE) and X-H1. Totally professional and totally happy. 7 lenses. Currently adding Olympus via Urth adapter.

Excellent video. I bought the X-T10 in 2015, but it just felt too small in my hands. By Christmas 2015 I bought a very low mileage Graphite X-T1, with a 6 month warranty, and have been happy since. A year and a half later I bought a X-T2 because Fuji added Acros film simulations to the camera. Stunning black and white images. From someone that has been shooting only Nikon since 1980, I think Fuji has really done a good job of keeping the joy of photography with the X-T1 and X-T2 cameras.

I have owned a Fuji X-T1 since 2016 & they are great cameras. Good to see the rubber grip on yours is still in good condition, I had to replace the rubber grip & port door on mine, but I do take it out taking photos all day. Got loads of shots round London where I work, or did before COVID. If you prefer it to the HX10, sell the HX10 & keep the X-T1. Don't discount the Fuji kit lenses, they are great, I know some other manufactures don't have perticualy good kit lenses. The X-T1 works great with vintage lenses & as the only SLR I had used before I got my X-T2 was a Nikon FE2 (Another fantastic camera) I was right at home with its pretty much perfect UI, Just a few more reprogramerble buttons which can take any function out of the main menu would make it perfect. The fact you can get them for £200-£300 is a bargin. The fuji lenses in genral are pretty much all winners, I don't think they have made a bad lens so far.

It was watching this video a while ago, that persuaded me to buy a used Xt1. I have since bought the Xt2 and xt3.. all brilliant cameras, and while I mainly use the Xt3 and Lumix G series for pro and instagram work, but I agree the older sensor XT1 has some magic to the images it produces. Love your videos, and look forward to watching more from you

The X-T1 was my introduction to Fuji mirrorless. Bought it second hand and still love it to death, even with possessing newer Fuji models. The X-T1 is a perfect choice for astro photography (together with the Samyang 12mm f2) because of the 16 megapixel sensor and bigger pixels.
I can recommend the 8mm Samyang for astro too, sharp and no aberrations. Great for Milky way, you can use full 30 sec exposure with no star trails ;)
@@Марк.Фетнов Oh, nice one! How is the distortion handled with that lens? Can you easily correct it in post?
@@pixelgenau2982 I haven't tried any distortion correction in post other than cropping some of the (bottom edge) foreground to give a better image. It works best for an overhead milky way type shot with some mid distance trees or far away mountains to fill the edges of the shot.
Absolutely love this camera!!! it does not matter how many newer camera i have i keep on going to this one.. one of those timeless Gems that keep on producing results and feel .... wont sell it as its a keeper for years to come
Thanks to your educational videos I just purchased this camera with a lens and only 500 shutter clicks for $400.00 I think the price is very reasonable . This is my first mirrorless camera and looking forward to start on my venture. Mind you I'm parking my Nikon D7000 as it is a bit heavy to lug around. So glad this video cleared the path for my decision
i bought XT1 last year, i love the features and film simulation on the camera. I use manual lens for XT1 and got amazing images too. It was vey cheap about US$400 for NEW body graphite gray limited edition

Hi Lawrence. Only US$400 for a new Graphite Edition XT1? Someone's offering here locally 2nd hand but Pristine Condition at US$470 and I'm not sure if it's worth it. Also, is the Graphite Edition of the XT1 of better material than the silver-coated top panel of the XT3? And how has your unit's skin held up? I hope it hasn't started to peel off and that the port door isn't coming off (both common XT1 issues). Thanks.

I love the X-T1, the images are beautiful. And it's so small and light. Paired with the Fujinon 27mm f2.8 it makes a great everyday carry . For portraits, I use a vintage lens in manual mode, the Pentax-A 50mm f1.7 (with a Fuji adapter), the bokeh is very impressive and the images very sharp.
The X-T1 was always an object of desire since they first came out.I could not afford one at the time and went down the Pentax route due to my budget restrictions (and do not regret that one bit - if you think Fuji SOOC colours are great, with a little bit of cooking Pentax ones are even better with regard to this*). It was not until January last year I finally got my hands on one together with a battery grip, after experimenting with both the XPro1 and XE2s. The X-T1 is everything I ever dreamed that the camera would be. Beautiful handling, great styling, great IQ. Unusually it feels just as good without its vertical grip as it does with it (unless the lenses get a bit too long and heavy). I really have just 2 gripes. Firstly I find it all too easy to knock the drive mode and secondly the AF is noticeably slower than that of the XE2s and later models. But as I do not shoot moving subjects much and often use MF lenses anyway that is no real hardship.
The beauty of the camera for me is that despite there now being 4 iterations of the X-T1 line, the original still holds the most appeal to me. Now I acknowledge the the 2/3/4 have all improved on some aspects of performance, and to some people that is important, but the improvements have come, to my taste, at the expense of the original's form factor. Each model has got a little bit larger and the original, to me, was the sweet spot.
* Fuji's default options are better and when it comes to B&W especially so, but Pentax have a much broader and of greater magnitude selection of tweaks that you can make to image profiles. The downside is the larger, heavier bodies and the increasing rarity of models, availability and support.

Great video. Was wondering when the X-T1 would make an appearance. I purchased one last year in addition to getting an X-Pro 1, and I have to say the X-T1 feels great to use, and takes amazing images as well. Definitely a great bargain.
Nice video. I bought firstly the X-T2 which I like so much, but after some time I wanted a second body for traveling and I purchased the X-T1. I loved it and despite the slow AF, I prefer this to the XT-2, specially because of the sensor and image rendition. Amazing camera, I will keep it until it will be working.

I'm contemplating on getting either a 2nd hand Pristine condition Graphite Edition XT1 (US$470) OR a brand new XT2+18-55 w/1-yr warranty (US$830)--Yeah, both at a bit higher cost for their supposed depreciated values BUT lower than the X100v (another option). I'm curious why you favor the XT1 despite its issues (skin peeling off, slower AF, port door coming off) to shoot over the XT2 which drastically performs better in terms of AF, weather sealing and no peeling off of its skin?
Btw, I currently have an XT3 with XFs 16/1.4, 27/2.8ii, 35/2.0 & the 50/2.0. The XT1/XT2 I'm considering will serve as back up but I shoot as a hobbyist only (family, food, travel, street images).

I have to tell you that it was the XT1 that got me hooked on the Fuji system of cameras. It was this camera that so reminded me of my Yashica FXD quartz that I bought back in 1982. In the years in between, I've owned a Canon, a couple of Bronicas and a couple of Nikons, D90 and D600. I've now gone full circle. these Fuji cameras are a joy to use, their build quality and image capture is exemplary. The trade off for full frame verses lightness and ease of use is a small price to pay in my opinion.
I also now own an XT2 but the XT1 gets a regular airing and will be used with a 23 mm prime at the next wedding I shoot. So keep it and enjoy it you will not be disappointed.

I’m waiting for my X-T2 to arrive in a few weeks, it’ll be my first ever actual camera. I really agree with you on the design of these cameras, a huge part of why I chose them was just how beautiful they are. Their design really doesn’t compare to much else from other mainstream brands.
Thanks to your channel I have a lot of ideas for vintage lenses, I just started with one for now though (the vivitar 70-210mm f2.8-4) along with the 15-45mm lens from Fujifilm. Eventually I’ll buy a few more as I get better but I’m very excited to learn photography on gear that truly excites me. Nice supporting review of a still amazingly wonderful camera to shoot, and bond with. The Fujifilm X-T1 is still one of those experiences that harkens back the days of film cameras. It's control layout, feel, and fuji color, along with its control customization and amazing viewfinder check all of the boxes of a fine "shooters camera". I still have mine, and put my money into glass rather than the latest sensors. I'm ready to go for an X-T3, now that the X-T4 is out, as most of my purchases go towards my songwriting and music ventures. Still, I enjoy just shooting nature, or street photography, with a real camera in hand, and my Nikon or Canon DSLR cameras just don't have the soul of a Fuji XT.

Fantastic video. You were part of the process of me getting back into film with the purchase of a Zorki 4K back in March 2020.
Quick question, I know you’ve mentioned that you don’t use focal reducer in another video, but is this due to any further compromise of the optics, or just personal preference?
I now have two XT-1 cameras, I came across the camera watching Mike Brown and was blown away with the pictures he had taken. I like the fact you do not have to go into a menu to set the camera up for the exposure triangle. I have two so I do not have to change lenses whilst out. A true bargain and so many professional photographers have kept the XT-1 but have traded in their XT-2 and XT3 to upgrade.
It's still a highly respected camera, and having used one I can now see why!
I have two X-T1 bodies and the images are something special. Far more special than I got from my full frame Nikon. I may buy a couple more used just to have spares in case one or more start to fail over time. That’s how great I think the X-T1 bodies are. 2022 and still outstanding.
Loaded my LAST roll of film! This helpful video assures me that my kit of Pentax-M lenses will have a useful life after I shoot that last film frame.

still using the XT1 today and continue to understand it's limitations to keep it going in today's landscape.
Not to force it to do things its not designed to do - but maybe create a different look on purpose due to those limitations with purpose.
do want to give credit that fuji updated this camera with face/eye detect and I had a very enjoyable time using it, taking portraits of a friend the other day. It really makes me question other reviewers about other camera's better - faster tracking and claim that fuji isnt good enough. - if my xt1 is "good enough" and knowing the XT4 is much better - it really keeps me in check about needing more when I simply need enough.
most peaking I miss are far focus though I blame myself first - and those photos are usually people walking towards me which I believe is the hardest way to manual focus. - would choose black and white to see the red line peaking more clearly most of the time.
I do wonder and hope if i get an upgrade for work that I could make this XT1 to be a true monochrome camera (removing the RGB filter) but wonder if those benefits people claim in those monochrome camera like better ISO control or better low light due to all the pixels are capturing tonality will apply here. (something for me to double check) - if not then ill keep it as is for the colors that are still quite good.
though the E1 and pro1 are equally interesting and maybe "compact" in the sense of the top part of the body being smooth classical design - i think the tilt screen on the XT1 makes it very valuable as well.
Your point about 'enough' is interesting - camera companies keep sales going by convincing us we need new features, which of course they have to do, but we don't have to believe them! For me, the X-T1 is indeed enough. At least for now...
@@zenography7923 i do agree - one big deal to look for an upgrade is for night photography. getting better noise control at 6400 ISO and being able to go higher.
At least for this point is a reasonable reason to upgrade at least to a XT2. In my point of view.
Day time shooting with bright sunlight is perfectly good enough.
I use my old xt1 with adapted nikkor D lenses. Just fab stuff with the film simulations. No AA filter is the key.

I’m quite new to the photography game and I picked up an X-T1 about 6 months ago. I’ve shot around 7000 photos and use it mostly to do the photo work for a high-end bike shop. I’ve been really, really enjoying it. I keep looking at ‘upgrading,’ it but at the end of the day, the images from this camera are great and I think purchasing a new body would just be needless consumption... That being said, I am kind of keen on a rangefinder style Fuji body. I like the idea of a viewfinder off to the side, that seems really helpful. Thanks for your thoughts!
I haven't found side mounted viewfinders to make much difference in practise, but it's important to find a camera you can bond with, if that makes sense - I think it can help the creative process. Maybe you should go for it?
The XT-1 is an awesome image maker. I adapt all my Takumar M42 lenses to my XT-1. The combination produces amazing images with character that modern lenses can not reproduce. The XT-1 feels like a Nikon FM2 in my hands when I hold it. The control dials are the best feature of this camera. I own three XT-1's, that is how much I love them.

Great review. I'd just add if you want most of what the X-T1 offers in a fixed 23mm (35mm) lens rangefinder-style body the X100T is a great way to go. It's a beautiful looking camera. With that said looking at the current prices for both IMO the X-T1 with either a used XF 23mm (35mm) f/2 or XF 35mm (50mm) f/2 lens is a better deal. The 23mm lens is outstanding and the 35mm might be one of Fujifilm's finest lenses ever made. If you want a zoom the XF 18-55 mm f/2.8-4.0 R LM OIS is an outstanding lens that can be had for a great price with the only drawback that it's not weather resistant like the two primes mentioned. Even the less expensive XC lenses are pretty good.
For those concerned about only having 16MP consider this: the top resolution of the X-T1 is 4892 x 3264 which equates to a 35mm negative scanned at 3500dpi. Also since the X-T1 doesn't have an AA and doesn't use a Bayer color filter array even when images are printed large they have a "film like" look to them. I've printed in-camera created JPEGs from my X-T1 up to 16"x24" and they've looked beautiful.
One last thing: a few early models of the X-T1 suffer from a warped AV/USB rubber port cover which could allow in water and a few from a peeling rubber grip. Both issues are an easy DIY fix.
16mp is entirely enough, no doubt about it, and I'll check out the lenses you mention. Thanks for the info!
@@zenography7923 BTW the new XC 35mm f/2 has the same glass as XF 35mm f/2 but is plastic, has no aperture ring and isn't weather resistant. It's Fujifilm's version of the "nifty fifty." Personally I'd stick to a used XF.

Nice to see you have discovered the joys of shooting with Fuji. For center EVF shooters the XT Line is amazing. Also, I prefer the focal length of ~50mm lenses on APSC.
Unfortunately Fuji no longer offers good EVFs for the XE line, but I am fine with the XE2 which has the same internals of the XT1 and XT10. But I miss the superior JPGs and JPG features of the newer cameras.
Thankfully its easy to add newer film simulations in free Capture One Express and Lightroom and I love Classic Negative on this sensor (not as sharp and contrasty as the latest sensor which I haven’t tried it with, I like to think the Xtrans 2 sensor with Classic Neg will be more pleasing).
Great video overall and excellent tip on the EVF dual view mode! Makes manual focusing easier than pressing Focus Assist to check if MF is fine. Also helps me out more than the other modes since it makes the EVF image smaller, a great boon for some spectacle-users like me.

Great camera that I bought second hand and it really opened up a vigorous relationship to photography. I lent it to my girlfriend and after four months of her following in love with photography agin by using it I had to buy her one of her own. I have an XH1, likely a superior camera but I still shoot with the XT1 95% of the time. Down side for me is that it is like a loose Rubik’s cube and I am switching things on and off all the time including the drive dial, the view finder diopter dial, the focus mode selector to name a few loose fidgety things. An amazing camera that teaches you how to shoot better I find and reward you with some real winners.

Great video! I just picked up my first Fujifilm, a barely-used X-E2, for a song. It has the same 16MP sensor as the X-T1, and I'm loving it so far - everything except having to go into the menu to save the Q-menu custom settings... I've got some nice old M42 lenses that I can't wait to try with a lens converter. Lens question: when using a full-frame (35mm film) lens with an APS-C sensor, would the barrel distortion be reduced, since the sensor doesn't utilize the outer part of the glass? Obviously this would matter more on wider lenses.
Totally agree with this: In 2020 I sold all my fancy and advanced Micro Four Thirds cameras, I lost my patience with the image quality. I managed to find an XT1 in good condition with battery grip for £250. It took patience and some chance, but I found it. For the most part, I'm just using a cheap Pergear 35mm F1.6 but I absolutely love it with my XT1. Agree with the XT10 comments also, I had one for 2 months prior to the XT1. Sent the XT10 back, love the XT1. No regrets whatsoever.

Thank you for posting this video. I have an X-T2 but LOVE my X-Pro1. I use a few vintage lenses and 2 7artisans ones. I love the feel of my X-Pro1 and the deliberate focussing of manual lenses. I stopped shooting RAW a couple of years ago and try to get it right in camera instead. I have a Sony A7 with a raft of lenses but now don't use it at all, I just don't 'feel' it...

The X-T1 is built like a tank and has a nice weighting to it with some vintage glass attached. Had mine 4 years and cant see me upgrading for some time yet!

I enjoy shooting with the 27mm pancake, wonderful little lens and looking forward to the new weather resistant one to complete it in a WR package. I agree on all points except the secondary dials for bracketing and metering tend to rotate together with the main shutter speed and isolation dials.. does this happen to you? Anyway I will probably keep looking for a second xt1 body. K don't want to go up to 24 megapixels!

IMHO, one of the best combos is the x-t1 with the fuji xf35mm f1.4 lens, if you can live with the rather slow autofocus compared to newer x-t3 or x-t4 versions. It'll deliver images as fine as those shot on any new camera worth thousands of dollars.

I m considering few options : XT10 / XE2 / XT1. I would like a camera i can take with me everywhere, I m doing street photography, landscapes, a bit of portraits. And would love, in the long term, to do more ocean photography. I kind of want a do-it-all camera, but since i'm on a budget, hard to know which is the best to look for ! any advice ?

I have become a Fuji convert, about two years back I bought a used Fuji X Pro 1, I love it for all sorts of reasons. It's rangefinder looks, it's top plate controls for shutter speeds, I only tend to use it manually and as you have mentioned it has those the excellent film simulations. I payed just under £300, body only, for a really nice one from MBP of whom I have no connection with whatsoever. The 16mp sensor is ample for my sort of photography. The XPro 1 never had focus peaking it was added as an firmware update and being white isn't that good but I am training myself, a specs warer, to focus manual lenses without it.
I've found peaking really helps me to focus - I can't always nail it by eye alone..
@@zenography7923 I can't nail it either but the peaking on the X pro1 being white isn't that good so I'm trying to use my eyes only, I wear specs all the time. I also use a Panasonic GX7 and the peaking on that is much better, probably because it's blue. I really enjoy your vlogs,

I has used my Nikon D610+80-200f2.8ED+24-120N+85D for and I decided to get XT1+xf35f1.4 for my street life and family purpose. It has all my needs and I forget I has 2 cameras sometimes.

Interestingly, I came to many of these same conclusions after researching a budget backup camera for me. The view finder, ISO dial, and film simulations and general physical style are wonderful. I shoot with my vintage Canon FD lenses and recently ordered that 15-40 lens as I always like the wide angles. Thanks for this!

I will add that the Fuji X100T has the same sensor. I love that camera and it produces the same kind of wonderful 16MB photos with a fixed 23mm F2 lens. Lots of people like the X100T for that reason. The X100V is now the 'street camera da jour' for Fuji, and it is great. But I have no urge to 'upgrade.'
Yes! I talk about and share my work on my channel with early fuji cameras. Both pro and personal projects. I use an x-e2 as one of my daily drivers. I got it for walnuts!

Although I’we got some much more recent cameras with higher resolution and awesome video quality, I’we kept my X-T1 and use it fairly often, when I want an analog-like experience. I then usually go with some vintage glass like Helios, old minolta, or Canon FD lenses. The film simulations, that You also refer to, make the experience even better. I think I’ll keep mine til it dies. Thanks for an awesome channel.
Just bought one with the 50-230mm. For chf300. Basically means the camera effectively cost around CHF50. Can’t wait to start using it
Really enjoying using it. The focus assist button means that it is a joy with manual lenses - super easy to get a good focus. Really can't recommend it highly enough. Image quality is, as everyone highlights, top as well.
I agree that what is lacking on the little brothers of the X-T ranges is the ISO dial. I did find a workaround for my X-T30 by setting the front dial to control ISO and thus you have the exposure triangle at your finger tips with the shutter dial, ISO front wheel, and Aperture on the Lens. I am still a bit in envy each time I see those ISO dials though, wish I'd seen this before purchasing.

Hi thanks....I think the price has went up a little on the x- t1 because of the sensor , when the 2 and 3 came out it took a dive . Good one now is around your ball park figure , i think its a keeper for stills .

Hi Mr. Paul Donohoe. I'm contemplating on getting either a 2nd hand Pristine condition Graphite Edition XT1 (US$470) OR a brand new XT2+18-55 w/1-yr warranty (US$830)--Yeah, both at a bit higher cost for their supposed depreciated values BUT lower than the X100v (another option). I'm curious as to why choose these old cameras despite the XT1 issues (skin peeling off, slower AF, port door coming off) and the XT2 (occasional inaccurate subject focus, fast battery consumption, freezing issues)?
Btw, I currently have an XT3 with XFs 16/1.4, 27/2.8ii, 35/2.0 & the 50/2.0. The XT1/XT2 I'm considering will serve as back up but I shoot as a hobbyist only (family, food, travel, street images).

@@nathanielngosy hi Nathaniel You are correct about those issues but for me it's just always been a natural fit. On my first one a section of the skin peeled but only after about five years of almost daily use and pretty much constant travelling As for focusing I've been very happy with how it works. Picture quality is superb I think JPEGS are excellent and quite often need no extra work. As to XT2 I have not used one but it seems from RUclipss iv seen comparing the two a lot of people prefer the xt1 The 100v looks great but I really much prefer the design and EVF of the xt1 I'm never been comfortable with range finders lol Mostly I've used the xt1 it for street urban and similar with the 35 1.4 Always sharp natural to use and more than fast enough for street movement etc. With the risk of sounding weird for me it's a heart thing It's just part of me now I hope this helps I bought my second one a few months ago Mint Condition and it works perfectly
@@writerman242 Thanks for replying. I heard that the skin peeling and warping door issues of later units off production have been resolved already. If only we knew how to determine which of these XT1s belonged to them such as through serial numbers. I just don't want to go through the hassle of getting them fixed. I do hope that by putting the XT1 inside a dehumidifier box when not in use and cycling the XT1's usage with the XT3 (Yep, highly likely I won't use each unit daily) would prolong the adhesive applied on its skin keeping it attached to its body.

I like your work Mark but rarely comment on anything but in this case I believe you should keep the X-T1. I am biased, in fact I've just picked up my 3rd body with 9000 actuations and mint condition for 349aud and use all three with different mods done by myself. I've gone from the kit lenses that are above the norm in every way to legacy lenses of all types, a bit of astro including a beautiful 500 Russian mirror lens and have just recently bought my most expensive piece of 2nd hand glass, a fuji XF 10-24 so obviously you know my opinion of these gems. I'm not a pro but I've seen several pros in forums say that they wish they had never sold their X-T1's. All my gear has come from others upgrading. Lucky me and I do think you will regret it if you sell it. The film simulations alone are unmatched in anything that I'm aware of. Thank you for your informative videos. Good light to you. I have an X-H1 and an X-Pro 2. Each has its place and its strengths. But I still have my X-T1 and will never part with it. I love the images from that camera; they have a special look. When paired with the 35mm f/1.4, it’s pretty magical.

You should absolutely keep it. I have one of these along with the Sony a7, which means that each vintage lens I have is effectively two lenses of different focal lengths. All my 50mm lenses become nice 75mm portrait lenses.
Coming from (and beginning a return to) traditional film photography the x-t1 is much more intuitive than the a7 because of the traditional dials for all the essential settings.
The a7 is great for using vintage lenses full frame, but when I first got it I couldn't believe it had no dedicated shutter speed dial?

I have the chrome X-T1, it’s awesome. I also have the X-Pro1 which, whilst it takes great pics only if you can hit the AF with it. I couldn’t do it reliably enough and that’s why the X-T1 was purchased.
If you would use exclusively manual focus lenses on the XPro1, would you still consider getting the XT1?
DrDryce I’d already given up in the X-Pro1, the AF was shocking for a camera aimed at pro photographers. I would make allowances for the odd miss but it would fail at the easiest of targets. For instance, what made me give up on it was a flower in my garden, large in the frame against a clear blue sky, and it missed focus. That was unforgivable to me, my phone camera would have nailed that 100/100 times.
I posted my experience on a camera forum and had the usual operator error rubbish, but no one offered any solutions, I was at fault ( even after posting the above example shot ). I adored the pics from that camera when it nailed focus, along with the 35/1.4 shots of my daughter, they still are some of my favourite pics of her as a toddler
So, entered the X-T1 along with the 56/1.2 and I began to love the system again. My bag consisted of the 18/35/56 and I bought the carbon fibre Manfrotto BeFree too and I was good to go.
My 7D with the 16/35/4, 50/1.8 and 70-200/2.8 were now left at home as I felt ‘weight liberated’ and my bag carried the nappies that were now an essential part of my life at the time.
So, I still use the X-Pro1 occasionally, I now use back button focusing in manual AF, it works great on static shots because I really did/do love that camera but I did drop it a few years back and cracked the optical viewfinder glass 🙄 so I need to find a replacement one.

Keep it! There's a bit of magic in those early sensors. I love how the images look with vintage glass. Considering an upgrade in durability after dropping my xe-1 & losing the rear screen😢

Helios 28 Vs Zeiss 29 I have both and have never used them both on the same day.
I like that both cameras shoot 720, hard to see artifacts on phone screen. Seems like there's a fair bit of control in video mode.i like the odd irregularitie as long as the file is stable.
My nex c3 exposure setting ,when shooting video, slip into an automatic coma , oh well 80 quid gone and the search continues.

Today I´ve received my Jupiter 10 for FED from Ukraine , and , unbelievable , it´s collapsable with M39 to Fuji adapter!! Looks sooo nice on my X-T1 !! and after a short test it´s also creates really sharp images stopped down to 5.6

@@zenography7923 will do , and the next days I will also test my second lens from Ukrain , an INDUSTAR-61 L/D 2.8/53mm ,,,bought for 10€ ...simply unbelievable .....little bit of radioactiv , but not much to worry about :-)
There's no need to worry about the I-61 - there's a tiny bit of lanthanum in the glass, but unlike other radioactive lenses there's no thorium (which is far more radioactive and actually yellows the glass over time! The I-61 is, as far as I can ascertain, entirely safe.
I somehow can't bring myself to sell any camera. So clearly I think you must keep this beauty. I am tempted to go for this, or the a6000.

Just a quick question, in a VS battle, would you put this above the Sony a6000? Another great video by the way.
I have both and actually use the xt1 professionally for product shots. The Sonys focus is faster and more accurate but only by a bit. The reason that I use the xt1 over the sony for product photography is the raw files that come out of the camera. The xt1 files are just jaw-droppingly beautiful and very editable (if you need to) whereas the sonys colours, shadows and rendering of both is just lacking even with the later full-frame cameras. I can't get close to the fuji files with sony even with tonnes of editing in lightroom. The only other camera that matches the xt1 for colour is the Canon 5D range.
Yes, I would. The a6000 is a lovely camera but for me, this one's nicer.
Most xt1 have the peeling skin problem and also the warped door. But for really cheap you can buy a new skin (better than the original) and the door at ali express and you end up with a really beaultiful camera.
Also you can buy a meike battery grip to give the camera a nice boost in handling ad make it easier to nail the portrait shots
I think the peeling skin problem has affected a lot of these cameras - miraculously this one has survived unscathed!
