You see this film from a different perspective as an adult and a parent than you did as a teenager 😂
That is so true.
But it’s still just as good!
That’s for sure lol.
You know it's gonna be a good reaction when the fan comes out!!! 🤣🥰
Thank you for watching
It wasn't Neil's looks that turned her off, it's his personality. He is entitled and creepy. He is one of those Nice Guys who's not actually nice. He looks down on others over how much money they have.
great reaction, you giggled about as much as I did the first time I watched! I think what you missed about Neil is that he was trying to impress her with money but she is already from a rich family so he's not offering her anything she doesn't already have, it sort of comes across as him assuming she must be shallow instead of paying attention to what she might actually be impressed by.
Not at all dear - I explained that people discuss what they feel makes them look good. Johnny talked music and dancing - Neil talked property and money. Both men put forward their best hand - Baby just loved one. And that's her choice. not saying Neil was great but the film kinda painted him that way too
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O. I get that Neil's best asset was his money but he didn't take into account that if baby is also well off then it doesn't come across as a + it just sounds like bragging and snobbyness. I'm sure someone would be very happy to have his attention but maybe he should have clued in that baby was not it 😄
The same way Baby could have taken a hint that Johnny was not interested in her to start with...@@missm.e9914 You did see that he didnt want her at the club and was rude to her several times but she didnt give up. She kept coming back. You just don't like Neil. If you were diplomatic - you'd see that both Neil and Johnny had their bad sides. Johnny also had a temper.
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O. oh no, I think Johnny hated her guts when they first met and was unnecessarily rude, he was looking down on her for being, in his eyes, spoiled and naive, I don't think he's a better first choice or anything. But I'm saying I can see why a girl like Baby would be utterly unimpressed by Neil's constant flexing his wealth.
and Neil's so douchey.
Patrick Swayze had been trained as a dancer by his dancer/choreographer mother from a young age and was featured in many productions through his twenties. By the time of this film he was around 35 and his knees were in very bad shape and he struggled mightily to disguise his difficulty in doing the lifts and other demanding moves. He managed to get away with it and performed beautifully, but it wasn't easy.
Fantastic - thank you for sharing
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O.baby was a lucky woman in the cry to me scene.
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O.- and Jennifer Grey is the daughter of Joel Grey, the Broadway and movie star (of "Cabaret" fame - ♫ ♪ Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome... ♪ ♫)
No one expected much from this movie when it was released, just a nice, little B-movie that hopefully will earn a little over the costs... It hit like a bomb. I remember staying in a line for tickets that went out from the theater into the street nearly to the bus stop. Eveyone wanted to see it, multiple times (I saw it !only! 3 times 😅). Somehow it hit the pulse of the time, that not confirming to your parents ideal doesn't mean you are bad, the fantastic soundtrack, the dancing, everyone wanted to dance like Johnny & Baby. It was THE movie of his time!
I think the spark of this movie is that Baby is supposed to be the naïve little girl that learns life lessons. She is not a beauty and she gets the hunk. But in truth it touches veey heavy social topics, and Baby, with her freshness and idealism, teaches a very good lesson to everybody else. She acts on her principles and ideas and everyone ends respecting her for it. So Idk that it is Baby who "grows up" and changes. Yes, she makes some experiences, but she doesn't really change. She is not "saved".
I think there is also a tiny bit of reverse-roles Verdi's Traviata.
I think she was very attractive.
11:35 being told "I envy you" after telling someone you were kicked out at 16 isn't exactly flattering. I'd be insulted too.
I don't know if you know this, but Patrick Swayze sang the song, "She's Like the Wind" that was playing when Johnny was leaving.
Wowwwww
And he wrote it- about his wife!
The guy who was "not so attractive" (Neil?) had a bad attitude. Did you see how he was talking down to the hotel staff? Robby was handsome and he was a jerk too. BTW, Did you recognize "Baby" from FERRIS BUELLER as Ferris Bueller's sister?
Yeah, I have a weird little soft spot for Jeannie Bueller...the thing about her was that she was a bitch, but she was basically right about EVERYTHING.
Yeah but Johnny also had a bad attitude at the club - that didn't stop her... lol
I am already dancing for this one! "I Had the Time of My Life" was the closing song at my wedding reception! So much fun this one. Everybody wanted to be Baby🤣!
Thank you for watching and sharing that part of your wedding.
At 11:53 - when the dance scoff's at Baby, for some reason so many people don't get this, but she scoff's because she JUST told Baby that her mom kicked her out when she was a teenager so she needed to start dancing to support herself, then Baby, a VERY privilaged child of a doctor who is about to go to college herself tells her "I envy you." Penny scoff's because it's a slap in the face considering where they both came from.
yes, Baby's comment comes across as patronizing.
I'm always confused how people don't recognize that Baby just dismissed and romanticized Penny's truly sad and traumatic parental disownment and monetary desperation to her face. It's incredibly rude and naive.
The way neil and his uncle talked down to patrick swayze character and the other entertainers .because they were not from the same social class is why baby probally treated him that way.
It's her first attraction in her life in this exciting transitional phase of becoming a young woman. Of course the hot guy who has all the moves is going to catch her eye lol. He's "other" to her, considering her traditional background and obvious family rules. As far as Neil, it wasn't about looks. You could tell he was smarmy from the first introduction.
“Don’t lift my legs sir! Put my legs down” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol
I can’t stop laughing at how hard you were riding for Neil 😂😂😂😂
Jennifer, Baby, was a dancer when she was younger. She also competed on Dancing With The Stars and won the mirror ball trophy. Beautiful Patrick. Sadly missed. If you've never seen the movie Ghost with him, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg I highly recommend it. Whoopi won an Oscar for her role as Ota Mae. It's AMAZING!!
She's the daughter of musical theater legend Joel Grey. And the man who played her father, Jerry Orbach, was also a musical theater leading man - he originated the role of Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of "Chicago". You can also hear him as Lumiere in the animated "Beauty and the Beast", and was also a regular on "Law and Order".
13:30 well it's not just pride, and it's not his wealth. When your only personality trait is "daddy's money".... yeah I'm good lmao
Absolutely one of my fave movies❤️. The music is the best and Patrick’s dance moves are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
OMG😂😂😂 your reaction to the love scene, same girl, same!!!🤣
I was like Sir - put my legs down
Neil was a creep! Too full of himself because he had money!
Awww - I get why you don't like him but I understand him.
Jerry Orbach was a big Broadway star. Starred in a lot of great classic shows and movies too. Cynthia Rhodes was a dancer and actress. She was in the movie Flashdance. And she was married to singer/songwriter Richard Marx for awhile.
Omg --- I love Richard Marx
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O.They had 3 sons together and were married for several years. Richard is now very happily remarried to Daisy Fuentes 💞
One of the most beloved movies (for women at least). It reminds us of those years between a girl and a woman and the relationships of that time. That scene in Johnny’s cabin after they danced at the Shelldrake is one of the most erotic in cinema - it shows just enough but leaves much to the imagination. Shew! Give me a fan!!! 🤣
Fan- Fan- take mine love, phew
Dirty Dancing is one of my all time favorite movies. I use to have the biggest crush on Patrick Swayze back in the day. Love your reaction to the movie.
Thank you for watching
FUN FACTS: Patrick Swayze was a professionally trained dancer of classical ballet in real life.
One of the songs played in the movie is sung by Patrick, called "She's Like The Wind."
Actress Jennifer Grey (Baby) & Patrick Swayze didn't get along due to disagreements on a previous movie they filmed together called "Red Dawn"
A year after the movie was released a spin off tv series called Dirty Dancing was aired. It was filmed as a comedy. It had 11 episodes on CBS but was eventually canceled due to low viewership
I love the fun facts - thank you for sharing
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O. People always talk about how they didn't get along on the set but Jennifer explained for the record that it was a love-hate relationship. Patrick was an expert trained dancer at that time and although she had experience he pushed her to do better but they didn't hate each other. They both had very strong personalities and attitudes to their work. If I was bringing my best and somebody kept telling me to do better I would get annoyed too, but they stayed friends up until his death. She cried so much over his memory on Dancing With The Stars. You can tell they were close.
"One of the songs played in the movie is sung by Patrick, called 'She's Like the Wind.'" He also wrote it.
I love the way you ask why do they have to dance and thrust their thighs together, but you can't look away either. Good thing you have that fan.
😂😂😂 loved your reaction to Dirty Dancing.
I remember watching this when I was 9 and my parents covering my eyes in the sexy scenes 😂
But I knew I wanted to learn to dance with Patrick Swayze 😅
Yep you’ll need the fan for this one!! Lmaoooo 😊
Patrick Swayze once rode up behind me on a horse. In Central Park. Boy, did that horse get a pat-down.
The grandson …she is not looking down on him because he’s not good enough but because he thinks he is gods gift just because he’s rich !!!!! Lol girl ….I don’t think you have done much dancing …the moves are nothing unusual lol
On a side note Jennifer’s dad is the actor and dancer Joel Grey .. he was in the movie Cabaret
Errr nope.
I was obsessed with the late Patrick Swayze after watching this movie. And I was Only 12 years old. 😁
You are even more innocent than Baby in the movie 😂. Sweet reaction to the most sexy movie EVER!!
One of the sexiest dance movies ever made!
Thank you for watching
Neil needs to get some game hunny and keep it pushing. It wasn't just about him not having as attractive of a body, dance moves or visage as Johnny. It was also the way he carried himself and the way he spoke that just felt so weasel-like. And that creepy gaze. He just had too many turn-offs in general.
Omgggg - that's harsh
Also, Baby overheard all of the wealthier guys that worked there being encouraged to romance the wealthy daughters, show them a good time, etc. While the poorer guys with no connections were told to leave the girls alone. I always figured that made Baby question Neil's sincerity as well, taking her for walks, complimenting her, was he just flattering her because he'd been instructed to?
"Even the dogs."
I had a lot of fun watching your reaction. I’ve seen this movie sooo many times and love it. You were truly entertaining.
I'm so glad!
This movie is a classic. It covers hard topics, has a fantastic soundtrack and phenomenal dancing.
Idk if it's ok to ask here but how about a Matthew Perry tribute with a reaction to Fools Rush In (1997) a romantic comedy with him & Salma Hayek about intercultural marriage?
With Selma Hayek! Oh, I loved him in that movie!
Very good. Best music. it is strange noone have request you When Harry Met Sally 1989 very good too.
Yes to When Harry Met Sally! Best viewed in Autumn or New Year’s Eve 🙏🏼
Dirty Dancing has been a favorite of mine since forever. ❤️🔥Have you never seen Patrick Swayze in Ghost?!? Oh girl!!!! It’s a must see! Whoopi Goldberg won an Oscar for her role as Oda Mae Brown. Brilliant. It also starred Demi Moore and Tony Goldwyn from the series Scandal. This is a CLASSIC movie… please watch soon! Great reaction!
"Although Neil did not make me bring out my fan..." 😅
lol
KSO! It was hilarious when you pulled out the fan. You know what you really need, though, is a fan you can plug in! It will save you from getting a sore wrist from all that waving it around! :)
The old tap dancer was none other than the iconic Honi Coles. ❤
I loved this movie so much as a teenager. I think I drove my family crazy with it. 😂
I love the dancing, the romance, and the life lessons. ❤
Same here!
One of my favorite films & soundtracks. I'm so glad you reacted to this.
Thank you for watching
Penny, the female lead dancer, also dances in a very different 80s film called Flashdance. A guilty pleasure with some fun dance numbers. You should check that out!
"Fight for the Neils but in the meantime, enjoy the Johnnys." Amen to that!😂😂😂😂
HAHAHAHA - I was just being silly Love.
No thanks, Neil's a walking red flag. Bragging about "taking women away" from other guys because he has money is NOT a flex, nor does him being "average looking" make him a good guy. In fact MOST average guys are the BIGGEST narcissist jerks you'll ever meet, and those are the Neil vibes.
Your kind perspectives are always a breath of fresh air, sincerely!
Didn’t take you long to want a piece of Patrick🤣🤣🤣
What can I say? lol
Kemi, your reactions never disappoint.. you and your red fan 😂😂 😮 ❤
HAHAHAHA - THANK YOU LOVE
Patrick Swayze in the tv series made in 1985 set in the civil war called North and South is a must!
I was obsessed by this series, I loved it soo much! Actually, more than the books which is very, very rare, but the chemistry, the friendship worked so much better between the actors then in the books. I was even looking up historical books about the American Civil War... and man did I have a crush on Patrick Swayze as Orry Main long before Dirty Dancing. Funny fact, but I love the German title of it so much better fitting - Torches in the Storm.
Oh yeah such a classic!! God Bless to you from my mom and I in So. Cal USA 🇺🇸 love your channel! ❤️❤️🙏🙏
Love to all reading this from wherever you are tuning in from!
A favorite for my mom and I!
Actress Jennifer Grey from this movie was on Dancing with the stars and she won the mirror ball trophy with her partner Derek Hough.
She loved Patrick. Such a handsome man! ❤️❤️ RIP. Patrick’s mom in real life as a ballet 🩰 choreographer while his dad was rooted in sports. Patrick excelled in both and is the epitome of a true Texas gentleman! He also excelled at horse back riding as well at his ranch in Texas. ❤️ Accent and all! The song “She’s Like A Wind,” is in this film and be really sings it and it’s one of my favorites! Along with the song they dance to in the end “I’ve Had The Time Of My Life,” sung by Bill Medley from the righteous brothers and Jennifer Warnes. Best dance scene ever! You will find out! My mom used that song for her middle school class when they graduated. Everyone has done this dance routine and is usually performed at weddings. No one and I mean no one can do it like Patrick and Jennifer!
When I was a sophomore in high school I did a dance class thing for extra credit. In May my partner and I decided to surprise our dance teacher by doing this performance from Dirty Dancing. Her husband was over seas in the military and it was their wedding anniversary. They got married when this movie came out and danced to this song at their wedding. She loved the song so when she heard the song start playing we did it for her while her husband watched from a computer where he was was stationed. Yes we did the famous lift and it was so hard but we did it and everyone watching us loved it as did my teacher. My favorite part was when the beat picks up in the song. Patrick and Jennifer did one take on that lift in the end and they nailed it! Perfect 10s all around! ❤️❤️ “No one puts baby in the corner.” Lol 😂 Sich an iconic line! ❤️❤️
“Hungry Eyes,” by Eric Carmen is also in this movie. You’ve probably reacted to many of these songs as well on your other channel!
Actress Kelly Bishop is in this movie and she went on to play Emily Gilmore in the hit TV series Gilmore Girls.
You will love this movie and stay tuned till the end!! You will need those tissues! ❤️❤️ Yes Patrick did all his own stunts!
Check him out in The Outsiders 1983. Also a wonderful movie!! And Roadhouse. ❤️❤️
No one will ever play this role like Patrick!
He’s one of my moms favorite actors! You will swoon! Lol 😂
I am so excited for you to watch this amazing film!! Love to all! ❤️❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you for watching
KSO! I don't know if you've ever seen "Flashdance." Well, the incredibly flexible blonde dancer, Penny, does some incredible dancing in that movie. Her name is Cynthia Rhodes.
9:36 haha XD the Swayze effect. The fan... hilarious.
She just isn't an innocent "baby" as her parents think she is and she looks like that too. She just didn't let herself try her sexy self before this. So it's not that she is looking down on Neil, she just think he's boring...and I agree 😊.
The music videos of the film: Patrick Swayze - She's Like the Wind, Eric Carmen - Hungry Eyes and the academy award for best song I've Had (The Time of my Life) by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. Thank you for reacting this classic Dirty Dancing starring by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. "Nobody puts Baby in the Corner".
Thank you for watching
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O.🙂🙂🙂🙂
This is definitely the best Dirty Dancing reaction I've seen. Super entertaining! Thanks for a fun watch!
Wow, thank you!
If you like this, you may enjoy Ghost, which also has Patrick Swayze (I checked and didn’t see you’d done it yet).
Baby's dad is also Beauty and the Beast candle Lumiere voice
We grew up to the cassettes of this soundtrack as well as that of The Bodyguard. (We did not see the movies until we were much older) ;)
The fan was working overtime 😅 I have always loved this movie ❤
hahahaha - thank you love
I remember seeing this in the theaters with my mother and my aunts. When we left the theater we went straight to the record store and bought the double cassette soundtrack to this movie. I was to young to be obsessed with Patrick Swayze but I remember the posters in my aunts bedroom of him 🫣😅! Very sexy😂😂
Oh I’m exitedddd!!!!
Thank you for watching
Movies that Made Us on Netflix has an episode devoted to Dirty Dancing with some interesting factoids:
1/ the director had never directed a feature film. His one credit was a a short movie documentary
2/Swayze was a football player and who injured his knee. He had to do the leap off the stage multiple times which aggravated his old injury. He told them he could only do it one more time. That final leap was the shot they used.
3/ Swayze’s mom was a dance instructor so he knew how to dance really well + took it seriously. His annoyance with Jennifer Grey during the dance montages were real.
4/ Swayze and Grey didn’t like each other during the early part of the filming. It was a holdover from a movie they did earlier. Apparently Swayze initiated the reconciliation.
5/ Billy Zane was initially selected for Johnny because he had the charm even if he wasn’t quite what they envisioned. The fact he couldn’t dance was the nail in the coffin.
BEAUTIFUL
You and your fan have me cracking up!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
If I reincarnate, I want to come back as Baby 🙏🙏🙏
I used to play this soundtrack so much the neighbours complained😂
I started following you because of your reaction in the Society of the snow and the truth is that you are spectacular at reacting.....this is one of my favorite movies when I was a teenager....you made me laugh a lot...and at the same time you have beautiful reflections...keep it up....Greetings from Uruguay
for someone who was being judgemental about the attraction and the dancing method, a little after 10:00 you seem to have changed your mind-LOL
A classic. A favorite. Always lifts me up. Lots of lessons learned. But just a beautiful reminder of young love. 😊
I adore your reactions, so much! Patrick Swayze was such a gem, he was taking from us too soon. I love to watch this movie when I need a pick me up, such a light hearted and nice story.

However, now I have a daughter and get the perspective of Baby’s father 😅🙈
I'm probably repeating a lot of other people's comments but this is one of my favorite movies of all, and that was born after this came out but love love it❤ makes me Miss Patrick Swayze. I watched Ghost like a couple of weeks ago and of course that's a classic and it's great

Imo baby looks down on Neil partly because he’s rich and thinks he’s better than everyone else. I’m not sure it had a lot to do with his looks, but his attitude. He might not be out of line with his interest in baby but his whole pompous attitude makes me gag😂

I noticed you did the live stage performance of Sweeney Todd a while ago and there are so many more amazing shows that were recorded like it. I just think you’d really enjoy some of the ones out there like “into the woods (1989)” or “Miss Saigon” anyways have an amazing day!

I knew you were going to love this movie !!! I am so glad to see your reaction. All the best wishes from Berlin Germany. :)
Neil did not make me use the fan though, lol..!
You need to watch The Outsiders (1983) it stars Patrick Swayze and a few other familar actors who are heartthrobs in it. I know you like to read so you'll be happy to know that The Outsiders is a book that was writen by S.E. Hinton who was 16 years old at the time she has a few other books that were made into films called Tex (1982) Rumble Fish (1983) and That was Then This Is Now (1985). Patrick Swazye wrote the song "She's like the wind" (which is playing when Johnny leaves in the car) and I believe he wrote about his IRL wife
When Johnny and Baby are dancing at the end her mom says, “ I think she gets it from me.” Mrs. Housman is played by Kelly Bishop who was the original Sheila Bryant in the long running dramatic Broadway musical A Chorus Line.
It’s about a group of dancers auditioning for a small number of spots in the chorus of a big show. The audience gets to know about the characters’ lives and their struggles. The dancers also express the intense desperation that they feel because they need money to pay rent and so on. The movie is terrible by the way.
Oh I have been waiting for you to watch this ….Yay!!!
Thank you for watching
Love what you said at the end about mistakes
But when your not interested in a guy it just isn’t going to work !! You have to feel something!!!! ❤😂

Thank you for watching Russell
Aaah! I was so excited to see one of my favorite reactors watch one of my all time favorite films and you did not disappoint!!
As far as Neil is concerned, I think Baby avoids anything that smells of snobbery, so when Neil started flexing his wealth and privilege, that turned her off. She also seems to romanticize poverty, having never experienced the trauma of it herself (for example, when she tells Penny she envies her for getting kicked out of her home as a teenager and is now struggling to survive as a dancer). While I find Neil's comments about his "taking girls" from another person to be off-putting (like they're an object to be won instead of genuinely respecting women like Johnny does), I really appreciate the empathy you bring for his character and perspective.
This film has meant so much to me over the years, with its incredibly feminist portrayal of a coming of age story that was so rare during my own coming-of-age years. I also grew up with someone close to me who had to have a back alley abortion and was open about her experiences and those of others she knew. So, I grew up understanding the importance of having access to safe medical care and was so appreciative that the writer made it a necessary plot point.
Your reactions to this were wonderfully entertaining - you had me cackling in the room by myself. So much fun!
Btw, if you're looking for recommendations for more critically-acclaimed romantic films, I highly recommend the Before Trilogy (starting with Before Sunrise). Some consider it the best cinematic trilogy ever. Thanks so much!
Baby doesn't "romanticize" poverty, she just doesn't look down on it. Neil is just an egomaniacal creep.
@@radicalreactions1633 My thinking that Baby romanticizes poverty doesn't stem from any of her interactions with Neil, but rather the poorer people in the film. Perhaps it's just a reflection of my own time being below the poverty-line, but there's a strong familiarity to me in the way that Baby doesn't seem to see the very real harms of living in poverty while appreciating the "freedoms" it seems to give those suffering under it, and the ways that wealthier people talked to me about poverty while never having experienced it themselves. They didn't understand the real ways it crushes the minds and bodies of those dealing with it. Even when Johnny or Penny try to describe to her the realities of the cycle of poverty the live in (and they're good looking, skilled, and able-bodied), she mostly sees the positive aspects because she doesn't fully understand it.
And I don't blame her for this - it's entirely understandable to not get the nuances of something you yourself haven't experienced and to minimize the bad parts as a result. She gets to enjoy the benefits because the harms never really touch her life the way it does their's. That's what I mean by romanticizing it.
And, yeah, Neil definitely gives me the creepies lol
Thank you for your reaction!!!
Please watch awakenings some other time, I would love to watch that film again, but with you ❤
I think Baby is very beautiful. And strong, even as an unexperianced teen compared to him. I always admired her curage. He also get to admire her through the movie.

She gave it all up when she married Richard Marx and had 3 very handsome sons. I've been waiting for her to make her return. Watch staying alive (Saturday night fever pt 2) and flashdance.
