Honda CB650 / CB650SC Nighthawk 1st start after carb overhaul

It took a while, but I was able to completely rebuild the carburetor with all new parts. The 1st start is always a suspenseful one....will it work or just keep cranking?

I got the same thing for 650$, didn't run for 10 years (think the stator or regulator doesn't work). Put a new battery in it, some fuel, cranked a few times and started right up! Carbs are pissing and it needs work, but I was impressed, glad I bought a Honda

Nice bike. I had an 83 back in the day. Some tips. Turning the throttle does nothing with the engine off. Set the idle when engine is fully warm, choke off, to 1k rpm. This bike will not charge, actually drains the battery at idle. Keep it on a battery tender always.

Having trouble getting the carbs back together on this thing. The linkage is causing me trouble and I’m not sure if I need new fuel lines or to use the old. If you’re still active on here let me know id love to pick your brain on this bike.

Try to get the cables on while the carbs are not on the boots but still in your hands.

@@NextLevelAutoDiagnosticsLLC I am also referring to the linkage that connects each set of 2 carbs, where they align in the middle. I recall it kind of coming apart as I took the rails off. Not sure how the configuration goes in the middle that links them all.

I’m having issues trying to get it up and running. It’s colder out now so I assume that’s why it hasn’t turned on for a week or two. I’m trying to see if the jets or fuel
Line is clogged but I’m not sure where to spray starter fluid. It was running beautifully in august and once September hit i haven’t been able to get it to start. The starter keeps draining my battery :/

Does it try to idle? A bad jet will cause a poor idle quality but if its not even firing up...there pull the hose to see if fuel is flowing.

@@NextLevelAutoDiagnosticsLLC it’s not even firing up anymore. I’m thinking the fuel clogged the lines up. I’m gonna look at it tomorrow morning. I’m hoping that’s the issue. I definitely have some fuel leakage. I’d send photos but RUclips doesn’t allow it lol

@@Cjinator16 One easy check you can do is to see if the bowls are filling up with gas is by trying to drain each bowl using the easy accessible screws.

How did you get the air box boots back in the carbs? I’m fighting mine right now on the same bike.

Starts and runs without choke. Something is wrong here. Also, don't adjust the idle when cold. All you did was make a mess of the idle speed when warm.
