The JB Weld made me laugh. I once rented a house that was so old and decrepit everything was falling apart. The rent was so cheap I was afraid to complain to the landlord so I had to fix stuff myself. One day the toilet tank began leaking and I wedged myself behind it and looked underneath and found that someone had used fiberglass resin to cover up a leaking tank where the nut was. So I could not remove the tank or fixed the leak in any normal fashion. That house made me afraid of plumbing. Every time I want to fix a piece of plumbing something broke down the line and I was afraid that eventually I would end up in my neighbors house.
The first house I bought had a hole in the kitchen floor and the toilet upstairs leaked. We used the sunk in the downstairs powder room for like 6 months until we could afford new kitchen counters and a sink 😄
Thanks. I know that the engine is grounded (somewhere) to the chassis because when I was checking the stator, I verified continuity between the engine and the frame.
Gonna be awesome when done! Are you sure that the kill switch wiring isn't shorting when you twist the throttle? The housing isn't fixed to the handlebar, allowing it to rock slightly I'm sure. Gotta love prop shaft cycles ... be sure to check the rear hub/diff fluid before taking her for a spin.
It was definitely the carbs. They were pretty gummed up. Had to eventually do a full overhaul on them...that's coming up. I'll check the rear diff, although I have not seen any vids about it.
@@saltyshellback Should be similar to this ruclips.net/video/X5jb7VzOFnk/видео.html but DO NOT remove the drain plug until AFTER you have opened the fill plug. Would be a nightmare to break the fill plug after removing all the oil and now you can't fill it but it's drained ;)
You've got a big Job ahead of you. There's a lot of work there.
I am 99% finished. Just need to tune the carbs and change the differential oil 😉
@@saltyshellback After that it's wheelie time.
@@TheMultiGunMan I'll do one neked just for you😉
@@saltyshellback I was hoping you would! 🙂
@@saltyshellback what, only 1 for him. What about me?
I just bought one of these, going to do a quick fix get it running then sell it!
@@MegaBruceC They are pretty much bullet proof bikes!

Good job on the refresh
Thanks!
Looks like you are going to have your plate full for the coming weeks with this one. 👍👍
Just a bit 😄 I have a few minor tweaks to do before I take it for a long test ride.
Mornin man!
Mornin! 👍☕️
bringing it back to life
Yup! It's running like a charm now 😁
Just note that the engine is rubber mounted, so you have to connect a ground wire from the frame and engine to the battery. Good luck!

Yep, gonna ask, what did you give for that gem? She's a beauty and has a lot of promise.
I traded a guy some "hardware" fer it 😉 It definitely has many miles left in it 😁
That's gonna be cool!
I'm just waiting for a carb tuning kit to come in and then I ride 😄

@@trevorsgaragemusings Good to know. Thanks!
Lots of work needed on that
Yup. Been working on it since June 😄
👍🍻
Woo hooo!
Id really like to find another Ascot FT 500 fun ass bike
I'll have to look up one of those!
Geez talk about Jerry rigged 😳
It gets better before the dust settles. Wait til tomorrow 😄
What you don't have a Viking Neighbor to assist with this project?
I wish I did...he could hold the bike up while I clean underneath
Going to be a eat ride. Yes, you can raise the dead. Ohm’s Law. KTF.
I might ride this thing to come visit you ;-)
That’s gonna cost a lot of eBay bucks to get it running!
Not too bad. Under $500 total. Gonna try to get at least 100 pounds of bacon fer it when I'm done 😄
Someone was so mean to that bike
Ohhhh it gets better (worse 😄).
Wow...what a mess....I hope you didn't pay over $100........CowBell
I traded some "hardware" fer it and I got more than just this bike in the trade. This was the bonus bike I got 😉
I'd say it's worth about 100 cowbell
