I do like the neon-ish creepy colors, the "glowing fungi" look. Similar to pictures of the old (& long gone) Disneyland Rainbow Caverns. I'm working on something similar in "a railroady vein," and found this tutorial! yay!
GREAT looking terrain!!!!! Love the vibrant color in the cracks!!!! I did something similar painting pink foam terrain as stone then burn in lines to get the deep color then to make it glow I dry brushed the cracks to make it look like object source lighting. Very impressive work Big Guy!!!!
This is seriously awesome! I'm planning on taking my D&D party into the underdark and this is exactly what I'm going to do for terrain. Thank you so much for the creative ideas.
This is the first Underdark terrain I've seen that REALLY looks unearthly, creepy and grotesque. Most of the UD stuff I've seen just looks like underground stuff but darker. This really looks like another world. Awesome job! Now I have to stop throwing away my regular styrofoam!
Greetings! We seen your video years back and wanted to let you know we love your color science / scheme. We plan on using it in our 'Kingdom of the Dark Elves' 3d Printable terrain which is Act 6 in our storyline. We will definitely credit you and add a link to this video in our description in hopes others will be inspired with your ideas. Thanks for your contribution to the community, Well done! Be blessed in all you put your hand to ~ Frederick & Jennifer
Thank you, I appreciate it. I wish I had time to get back into doing videos for the channel again. I hope the color scheme works out well for you all, :D
I use Bird Sand and Bird Grit, from Wilkos (UK) 1Kg bags for £1. And all purpose flller 1Kg for £3, cheap resin from Poundland for water effects. I base coat my pieces in Mod Podge with some acrylic paint. Or use something like PVA Wood Glue and Ronseal Interior Clear Varnish with some paint. All depends on how much terrain you are building, and your budget. F
@@TheBlackVeilArt Agreed. I ended up doing it in black with purple in the windows and dry brushing all the black with shades of grey. I used Game Color's Ultramarine Blue for some highlights as well as Warlock purple with violet ink. It came pretty good and was easy to do.
My method for these was to empty part of the glue (roughly half). Before putting the food coloring in, you want to make sure the sides have a layer of glue on them like a barrier between the coloring and the plastic. After adding a few drops of the food coloring I put the lid on and let the color steep for an hour or so, then begin tumble mixing. Turning the bottle and letting gravity mix the materials. You could also hand mix it, in a dish. I just had the luxury of time for mixing these.
Another great way to mix is take a wire hanger, and bend part of it into a J shape, stick it in the bottle and attach the other part to a drill. Just use the drill and hanger to mix it up nice and even for a minute or so.

I love that people are still finding a use for the approach I took here. I hope your project comes out amazing!
Love the colour scheme, absolutely blew my mind after seeing nothing but grey rocks in every other terrain channel I've seen.
Thanks! We're going to be doing more like this with traditional themes but using more vibrant and ridiculous colors, :)

She finds you both nerdy and handy. Needs more drow. 🤓😂
Thank you for not just making it a bunch of rocks
I am wondering what to do for colors on a drow building. I have this drow tower I want to paint but I can't decide on colors. Any suggestions?
I've always envisioned Drow architecture to have a base color of slate black/gray with thin highlights or purples, pinks and cyans.

@@josephtuccillo6438 that sounds great. I'm sure it looks superb!
Hi! Jason,
I love the colour scheme, how do you mix the food dye so throughly? Please and thank you! :)
