Whoa... There are so many different applications for the ideas shown in this video. Why O why don't you have way more subscribers? Between you and DMG, I'm not sure which of you have the more underrated channel. You deserve more than you have, that IS for sure. Pax✌️
Thanks very much. Answer: I do not have a routine release schedule. Sometimes several weeks between videos. Therefore the RUclips algothrim doesnt treat me well and I dont get Recommended. Which is fine. I rely on word of mouth, organic growth. Thats the strongest kind there is. Slow and steady wins the race, as they say.
@@WylochsArmory Ah ok. At least you know exactly why, and since you're content with it, all's well then. Should I guess that the slow and steady, organic growth works well with family and career life, too? 😉
The pasta was inspired. You can also use a thinner medium to blend the transitions after painting. Something like Citadels Lahmian Medium will smooth the brush strokes and give you a more seamless blend. Great video as always.
You could use the sea shells, or something similar, glue it to a piece of tube, and use that for mushrooms with a bowl like cab. Also, you could use shells or something similar to make a little basin, paint the inside relativelly dark, fill it with the water stand-in, and then sculpt small ripples on its surface, that are caused, for example, from droplets of water falling into the small pool, and then hit the very top of the ripples with a bit of highlight reflected from surrounding glowing mushrooms or crystals. Or use thinned or somewhat transparent paint to create reflexions from nearby (glowing) objects.
Keep going at the wet blending,it takes time but well worth it,it’s something I’m still trying to master, but the results are great even when inexperienced at it
Really love these videos! I have a suggestion to improve on the clip feature of the tiles themselves. I found the raw clip tends to start to fray after a few uses (could be the chipboard I'm using) but I think if you dab the ends with some liquid CA glue (super glue) it would soak in and harden without adding thickness and preserve them longer!
What about plastic mushroom buttons, you can use that for the cap. Then add a stem using clay or epoxy resin. I am considering building an underground style board for post apocalyptic setting. (This Is Not a Test and Scrappers.) I think it would work well with my converted Skavenblight Scrambler and my wip Scarscrag Snivllers. And looking for larger mushrooms to use as cover and line of sight blocking pieces. Adding some scratch built Tyranid style terrain pieces into the mix.
For wet blending you can make a home made acrylic retardant with 4 parts glycerin, 3 parts propylene glycol and one part water. One drop will extend the working time of your paints significantly.
I have been thinking of doing some scifi plants and trees for my scifi game but most are very earth like or very over the top I think the paste is a great idea. You have inspired me. Thanks.
Yes! Been waiting for this one. Thanks for another fantastic EPIC instructional. I was wondering about the shells and the shrooms. The pasta is an awesome touch, but pretty easy to figure out where you got those. I didn't even notice the stalagmites in the tile video. Love it.
I have to show my OotA players this! (Unfortunately it's an online game so I can't use these in that game, but I may make them for a future game because they're fantastic!)
I think drybrushing the pasta will help add some definition to the ridges, and might help with the caps of the mushrooms too. Its all a bit too bright for my tastes.
Try dipping one end into water (hung from tape and string or floss), and let it warp the pasta, then place it on a conical stick to let it dry stretched. If you have multiple different sticks, and hang them as different heights, then they will each assume a unique random shape and diameter.
These are small enough that it isn't really a problem. I just bent them back into shape with my fingers. But if you're concerned, just use the white glue on the bottom trick. Here it is, working in action (jump to time 2:18) - ruclips.net/video/PAxf69WJ91Y/видео.html
If you want another interesting option that can wow players, get some of the glow in the dark craft paint and layer it overtop the other colors. Just don't go for the funhouse type paints, those work short term but then discolor things, learned that when I used them on my undead army and that lasted about 6 months before the last one had those glowing features start creating issues
@@randykowal3397 A friend of mine works in making props and scenery for things, several years ago, he had some leftover glow in the dark blue paints from work on a small funhouse he'd been hired for and gave it to me, I'd made a Warhammer Vampire Counts army themed around the Scourge from the Warcraft universe and the blue went on transparent and would then brightly glow for a rather cool effect. The paint then discolored the paint around it to a strange blue green color starting a few months later. The end result cut the look down on a lot of them with the eyes, but overall it's not bad enough to make me repaint them yet because I don't want to repaint a couple hundred undead...
I used your technique to make stalagmites, after 2 days they were hardened but if i squeeze them they will still reshape, anything i can do to remedy this? I already based them in a black paint/mod podge mix but they are still soft if squeezed enough, which isnt the biggest deal in the world but want to fix it if possible.
Maybe i should have spent a few more seconds on that. It is kinda of a knack. Those ones you made are probably done for. Try a 60/40 mix glue to water, and really really squeeze it out after dunking.

omg. Penne-->Greek columns. You're a genius.

Dang! I didn't expect the noodles to actually look nice but you proved me wrong.

Excellent, I am particularly enjoying the gradual introduction of new and advanced techniques. Thank you for sharing.
I love how everything on your channel feels like anyone could do it. It just looks easy and looks good. Keep up the good work!

You have turned the simple into a work of genius... love it.

Great looking terrain Buddy!!!!! Love the color choice!!!
I love the use of pasta, if it doesn't touch the inner kindergartner in someone I don't want to know you.
Heck yeah!!! Been waiting for this one!!!!!
And it didn't disappoint! :)
Very excellent work. I am working on an old abandon cemetery.
these two underdark ones are pretty fantastic and i'm probably going to draw a lot from them as i make my dark eldar Kill Team terrain and boards.
That is a really cool idea, time to crack open the pasta! haha. The wet blending turned out awesome too.
*I like your crafting style so much.. its really close to my kind of style... Such a nice work!!!! Amazing as always!!!*
I love the 1st ed DM Screen!!!!

Real cool... like how the shells came out

I love the underdark, and love the terrain
Love it! I’m just starting in a underdark campaign and have started a tile project, thanks for the ideas.
I have to show my OotA players this! (Unfortunately it's an online game so I can't use these in that game, but I may make them for a future game because they're fantastic!)
You should do a black light version. That would be awesome. It would be like a night time Pandora.
Love the pasta
Really nice. I love it.
those noodles look beautiful
i been looking forever for something to make the XenoFungus from sid meier's alpha centauri for terrian, that pasta will work great!
this is absolutely awesome!
They look so good!
5:00 that's called feathering or void blending. Totally legit blending technique.
Amazing stuff as usual! Thanks for sharing your secrets! And now...off to MICHAEL'S!! :D
So what you did with the wet paint and water as a "wet blend" is called feathering. Another useful technique :)
Thx!
I think drybrushing the pasta will help add some definition to the ridges, and might help with the caps of the mushrooms too. Its all a bit too bright for my tastes.
I did experiment with drybrushing for the ridges, but it over-dusted away the glowing effect.
It looks good! Thanks for sharing this.
Very cool! Love them!
New to your Channel. Wow! Wow! I'm super impressed!
Very nice, love it!
The pasta is a great idea. Any suggestions on how to prevent it from becoming brittle over time? Paint it with PVA glue or Mod Podge, I'd imagine.
I wouldn't worry about it. It's already brittle. Won't get worse.
Love it except the macaroni is too uniform for my taste, well I love it cooked with pasta sauce.😀

Epic sir!
Great work as always, Wyloch! There were a few thin, tall mushrooms you used that I didn't see in this video, are they from Michael's, also?
Yep, hobby lobby also carries all those
I love your content. I can’t believe I ever stopped watching you please forgive me. I’m back for good
I had a dud year a while back. :-D
How do you keep the chipboard from warping?

AzraelThanatos honestly the glow in the dark powder that skech uses works really good as well

What did you use for that waterfall at 6:58?
Just clear thin plastic from some toy packaging, and streaks of hot glue.
Pasta is genius! LOL

@@WylochsArmory Sure sounds good, thanks for the response!
Try "fusilli" type of pasta!
Would you consider doing some infested tyranid terrain?
'tis on my list!
Love the stallegmites....but I can't find toilet paper anywhere....
If I had a mold, could I shove the fake clay (1:10) in it?
That water kit is available at Walmart.
Man, youtube hasn't been sending me your posts even with the bell.
Hmmm thanks for the heads up
The penne pasta should not be pronounced "pene" and should be "pen neh" because in Italian one is a type of pasta and the other a male body part.
lol thanks
Pene xdxd
in spanish too
Rigatoni absorbs more sauce
Hobbysaw the pasta
as modellist I press like but as italian I know pasta isn’t meant for this, but only to be eaten 😂😂
Does the pasta remind anyone else of this emoji?🎍
95th!! hehe
hahaha specificly pene
