I've been playing 18" bass drums for about 25 years now, exclusively. I think you'll find that, eventually, the drum will sound best wide open, or with minimal dampening (even less than what you're using now). It's a good sound and I've found 18's to be remarkably versatile. Nice build. Thanks for showing us. 👍

You can buy an 18” base drum a friend had one bought it at Mandy’s in New York
Good job Andrea! Happy New Year
I'll follow your example for a portable kit. Do you know the distance in between the holes of the lugs?
Thanks Luca! I´m glad it´s been useful, It´s roughly 19 cm
Great vidz!!
This was cool
Glad you enjoyed it!
I prefer the Gretsch set in the background! Cheers!
In my country the big bass drum heads is very expansive , is more good have a tiny 16 inch or 18 bass drum with a tom heads
Bravo
Cool project! What kind of material did you use to eliminate the play in the drum riser towards the end of the video?
Thanks! It’s some kind of thick foam, rubber would do the job also.
