1000 nits is still impressive for an OLED. My older LG OLED tops out at like 550 nits and it still produces a beautiful picture. 1000 nits probably looks amazing coupled with quantum dots and black levels.

It has great upscaling, what you are likely referring to is low bit rate content, which just happens to be more common on some low resolution content like the Walking Dead, but make no mistake a Blu-ray or 1080p show with decent cameras like the Orville will look nearly 4k
@@sj460162 yes, best I've seen minus AMOLED, and that only has the PQ advantage thanks to pixel density and the fact it only needs to upscale to 1440p removing 99% of artifacts making it the absolute purest by appearance, but on a large display absolutely looks great, best on a tv panel I've seen for upscaling easily, nearly 4K, but like I said a decent AMOLED can make that sh*t look near 3D lol
Thank you doing this. Since the update debacle started online no one has done a proper review addressing this. Which in turn makes it hard to make a decision on buying this tv as all most of us last heard was the update nerfed it orginal brighten etc. So again thank you. In the title you should as review after title update to separate you from the rest.
Do not buy it. The initial brightness was a scam to impress reviewers. It is not the same TV anymore. Its first gen tech with a lot if issues. Terrible build quality on top of that. Look on Amazon, 10% of all reviews for this set are 1 star. That is double the amount of virtually any other OLED. Look for yourself, this Samsung is not a good choice. Go Sony or LG.
Just got a 65" for $1400 out the door...I'm coming from a 9 year old lcd tv so any ounce of upgrade would impress me....I just finished calibrating it and I'm blown away so much I turn on the TV just to see the content in hdr....I'm also pleased that the tv has loud punchy bass and crisp highs.....
You can make it look pretty much identical with tweaked settings. They did not really take anything away, just changed the presets. Maybe slightly lower nits but that also means ABL will be less aggressive.

C1-C2 is mid-end WOLED TVs, S95B is high-end QD-OLED. You need LG G2 series to even come close, but S95B will still win. C series has been mid-end series for a while now. G series is the consumer high-end model.
The picture of the s95b will be better. But also check what os you prefer more if you are going to use it often and if you want something else then 55 or 65 inch, there is no option there with the s95b. Try both in a store near you.
@@lort6022 If being brighter is the only factor, then yes the s95b destroys basically everything out there. But as far as quality and overall picture quality, the C1/C2 are much higher quality than the s95b. WebOS destroys Tizen, the colors look more true to life and not so cartoons, and the build quality is unquestionably better. The G2 is even better. The s95b is a nice entry into qd oled, but it's a far cry from being the end all TV. The next few years we'll see a lot of improvements.
Short answer is yes with a big BUT. For current price and firmware version I'd probably recommend a lg G2 as it's a better value with a 5 year warranty and similar brightness and Pic quality. I've had the s95b with every update and yes it's not as bright and vibrant as it was but it's more accurate now and still plenty bright and looks amazing. But between Samsung tizen OS not being great and Samsung keeps nerfing the tv with updates I'd consider the G2 instead as you have no idea of Samsung will keep making tv worse. Great TV if you can get it cheap but skip to a LG G2 if possible. I bet gen two of the Samsung qd oled will be a lot better.

But since then there have been two other software updates and both have reduced overall brightness which effects highlight detail and overall experience among other software related issues. Yes overall it's still a great TV but not knowing what Samsung will do to this tv with future updates is very misleading on their part and why I mentioned it in my post. Love the tv no question but for current price and with Samsung TV having some very bad practices with how they sell their tvs and then change them dramatically after people have bought them it's not an easy yes or no recommendation.
Looking at this tv in Curry’s and it would be my first OLED tv. Are you concerned with any potential screen burn issues? Having not owned an OLED before this is a concern for me.
I'll be getting this as my first Oled, we shouldn't be worried about burn in unless you have a still image on screen all day everyday or if you watch Sky Sports all day everyday with that Sky logo in the corner that never goes away. Hope I made it clear

I have one of these TVs and it is really remarkable but it may be going back. I am a cord cutter and have 4 TCL Roku TVs that work fine. I have a Roku Ultra connected to the S95B and there is a sync problem with the sound/video. I use a HD Homerun setup and when I watch live TV using it, the sound and video are not in sync. Anyone know what can be done if anything ?

Samsung doesn't know what it's doing with their software updates, the new one out (1403) apparently makes the TV worse and even has bricked some people's TV's.
Nothing was wrong about the comments on the optical out port - but i have to say thank god it has one. Both NEXT-gen consoles do not have Optical out ports. So if you were like me and had a quality wired headset like ASTRO A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro you were mad dinkum aussie fucked. Just had to run a Optical cable to the MIX-amp from the TV and the world was right again.

Samsungs VA LCD panels have exceptional contrast and tone mapping, which makes them more flexible in multiple environments. LGs nanocell is trash compared to Samsung. I bought a nanocell because it looked good in the showroom. I returned it the next day for a VA panel. The LG cost$1000, but it only had a native 1700:1 contrast ratio in 2022. My 8 year old 1080p Sammy has a 2000:1. How can 1700:1 produce high dynamic range. If all involved would adopt HDR10+, then Dolby Vision wouldn't be so important.
Most Tv's don't have an earc port ? Sony A95K, A90K, X95K, X90K have earc, LG C1,C2,G1,G2 have earc, Hisense A9H, U8H, A7H have earc, and I only searched for 5 mins ........
The problem with HDMI eARC is that is takes up a hdmi 2.1 port. which means you are only left with one port that is capable with 4k@120hz. this is the way MOST 120hz tv's are set up. very few have 4xhdmi 2.1.
@@sj460162 Oh I'm in the UK too. Almost all shows and films are in 4K these days, same for sports like you said. 4K is great for PC gaming as well. You don't get daytime television in 4K I guess, but that's not really the kind of stuff that's going to be pushing visual fidelity to begin with.

It was enough bright for daylight but after the 1302 update they nerf it alot so lost all the performance it was close to a Qled with almost hitting 1600 nits in all modes. There is no blooming on a Oled TV by the way as you telling us.
I just got his tv after my 8 years old Sony tv died, the picture is perfect need some tweaking but then you will get a very beautiful experience, the worst thing here is the operating system, I really hope Samsung dodge Tizen and get with google.
I'm not 100% sure it has fully. Was doing a nit reading with another creator today and the best we got at 10% in HDR was just under 1000nits sustained. This on the 1303 update.
The s95b is the biggest piece of junk I had mine for 2 weeks colors are not accurate at all and the TV started having major flickering I had to return it yesterday. I talked to the guy at best buy he said people have been returning the lg c2 for flickering and also the new sony qd oled they are all having the same issue since they started making the oleds brighter. It sucks big time cuz I bought the lg b6 in 2016 when it came out and still works perfect. So now I am sticking going for a qled which will never match to my older b6
Dolby vision is overrated, what Samsung does with their HDR10+ is every bit as good as Dolby vision especially on Sony Dolby vision which makes their picture look blue and you can’t fix it, LG does Dolby vision better but not over Samsung so get off that having to have Dolby vision, it’s overrated whether you like it or not, I know this is a review but you complain about little things that mean nothing like out of the box settings well you can adjust the settings to your liking every tv comes with crappy out of the box settings bottom line is that the S95B and the A95K are going to be the best TVs of 2022 because of their picture quality and their color brightness being unmatched by any other OLED up to this point all the other petty complaints that you’re bringing up are minor
All TV's at this level are brilliant I agree. But when you are reviewing them you need to explain the little things so that people know what they are buying. maybe it doesn't matter to most people but there will be one person who it does matter to. Trust me it would be easier for me to just say the positives but it wouldn't be honest or helpful.

It’s funny because at launch the peak highlights that could hit 1500 nits were tiny 2 percent or below people are acting like the whole tv could hit 1500 nits full screen lol . The other windows sizes the peak brightness like 10 percent windows which is the most common the brightness never changed nor did 25 percent , 50 or 100

FYI: The 1303 update has resolved the brightness decrease. It is now back to what it was - very bright and vibrant!

Your full of it his a Samsung fanboy he always has been so would not make sense for him to shit on it now. He did a test it didn't hold the peak brightness. I know he has a bad rap with lots of you folks in the community bc he talks alot of shit but, his right on this one.
@@mosthated8848 No he's not HDR was 1,000-1300nits amazing. SDR never went past 500nits that's actually great for SDR he's insane and so are you for believing him. He's known as the clown calibrator for a reason. 1303 made it brighter. So no not a nerf still the brightest oled period.

Stay away from this TV. 9 out of 10 units come BENT. Stand on the side and look across the top of the screen, you will see what im talking about.
You can always return the TV back if it came bent, and get a new one no?

@@mosthated8848 Yes it does stop lying because you don't have one he was basically hitting 1400nits in HDR. So this update was great and for the ones that don't update like me on 1211. 1500nits all day.
