    • @somebody6048
      @somebody6048 Год назад

      @@schiaa7340 Basically I said that the thermostat set the auxiliary heat to gas by default on function 6. And that you want to change it to the correct setting of electric. Otherwise it will use the heat strip as much as possible for quick heating because it think you have cheap natural gas for heating. But if you set it to electric, then it will only use the auxiliary heat when really necessary.
      In addition one person I know had their system broke down when they went back from vacation and turn it back on and didn't have the fan running continuously. And that is because the thermostat think it is gas and turn on the heat strip without running the fan thinking it is a gas, thus turning on the gas and letting it reach temperature first before running the fan, which is standard procedure for gas. But turning on the heat strip without the fan running burn out the heat strip. So this person always have the fan running continuously not knowing that it could have been avoided if they set the auxiliary heat to electric instead of the default of gas.

With this experience i swore i will never buy a Honey well thermostat again.

    I just installed the Honeywell Home FocusPro TH6320R along with the THM5320R equipment interface module (EIM). After having successfully linked the two and gone through the thermostat setup, I notice that under the “System” panel I am able to toggle through “Heat,” “Cool,” and “Off,” but not “Auto,” which the manual indicates is an option. Any idea why I’m not seeing that as an option? Many thanks! Excellent tutorial, btw.

    I see you turned your aux settings from 5 to 1 to reduce the use of auxiliary heat but I need to do the opposite. it’s taking to long for the auxiliary heat to click on and just blowing cold air for 10 to minutes or so making the house cold again and it’s just counterproductive I will like for the auxiliary heat to click on sooner so I’m guessing I go up to like a 6 or 7 ? or is There separate setting for that ?

  • @somebody6048
    @somebody6048 Год назад +2

    Before you turn off the heat strip and change function 1 from 5 to 1, you need to check function 6 to see if it is at the default of 5 for gas and oil furnace less than 90% efficient, as evidence by your thermostat in this video. As that would make the thermostat think you have cheap auxiliary heating from gas and will run the auxiliary heating all the time not knowing that it is expensive electric heating. If it is at the default setting of 5, then you need to set it to 9 so the thermostat know you have expensive heat strip as auxiliary heating and it will try to run the heat pump more often. But if you turn off the heat strip, then when it gets really cold, you won't have the heat strip to help supplement the heat pump to warm the room up quickly when needed. Try that first before turning off the heat strip.
    Note: Everytime you change the setting of function 1, all the other functions are reset to the default thus you have to cycle through all the other functions and make sure it is appropriate to your situation and not at the default setting.

    • @TalesOfMatt
      @TalesOfMatt  6 лет назад +1

      Mario Casarez Hello, the setting that I talk about to turn off the heat strips from kicking in does not impact the cool/AC settings. As far as the heat strips go, they heat the house (at least should) a little faster. However; based on theelectricity rate in your area the heat strips might be too costly vs the time it takes to heat your place. In my case it was too costly vs the gain in heating my place just a little faster. I hope this helps.

How do I reset to override current settings so I can put it in 1 1 mode and do as you did locking it on no higher or lower than setting and do I have to go through the set schedule and manually set each day. Last question is there separate schedules for summer and winter. I really appreciate you responding and providing help. God Bless.

Based on your comment, I would suggest re-setting it to where it was before the changes and start from the beginning.
