I think maybe a culture of shaming the perpetrator might help, if that could get going and get some real momentum. I honestly think these perpetrators won't answer or change to any other kind of consequence. But if there was a cultural disgust and shame placed on the perpetrator then I think this would be very powerful. Kind of in the same way homophobia, although it's a completely different topic, used to thrive especially among macho groups of males, whereas now there are less and less groups of male friends, in Britain, for example, where promoting homophobia would gain them any kind of credibility - instead it would tend to be shut down much more quickly by the shame of it imposed on the perpetrator. Whatever it takes.... even though misogyny is an age-old problem, we also definitely have some disturbing variants of it on the rise, not least because of, and also reflected in, online porn culture. It's unbelievable what young girls are going through now on this front and how common it seems to be. The shame and blame and the onus should be put on the perpetration of such behaviour, I think, and I think this could produce real change. I'm aware that I am not offering a concrete solution here. But education for young people, especially boys, in the home, at school, which would eventually filter down into social groups of young people, which puts shame on this behaviour, something like that could make a big difference I think. And, for once, shame and blame would be absolutely appropriate and justified.

Yeah but Caroline Flack showed as long as you attempt suicide you will be seen as the victim even if in a coke fueled paranoid rage you smack a lamp upside your bae's face. "most blood ive ever seen when responding to a crime in my 20 years on Thames Valley force" I think were the words of the FEMALE officer responding to the calls from neighbours when she had he little rage.
Silly slag didn't mean to kill herself I am sure, just to deflect any blame still being shot at her.

This is an important documentary, and watching it (and similar) documentaries should be mandatory in schools. Problem is that perhaps those who are on top of the statistics as offenders don't go to schools? As a general, most crime is performed by a very small percentage of the population and most crime offenders are serial offenders, is that the case for these crimes as well?

While im not saying that woman dont rape men, most men rape survivors were raped by men as well. That being said i have seen woman groping waiters and bartenders because they are rarely held accountable which is disgusting. I had guys in school grab my ass on multiple occasions so i know how it feels to feel objectified. We just all need to learn this behaviour is not okay. But trying to stop the conversation because it focuses on the group that rape more often according to statistics isnt the way to get equality.

Why no man knows a rapist? Because good men are told to care for women and men are generally more aggressive than women. Meaning that a good man might assaulting the rapist.
I just wanted to say this to anyone still saying that ridiculous "How come no man ever knows any rapist?" If you knew anything about men you would know the answer. Answer these.
Why are football and soccer fans mostly men and can be aggressive? Now you know the answer. Male pattern aggression. This is why we need to talk about things. So that we ensure people know what they are talking about. Women don't seem to understand men and men don't understand women. This is why it's so easy to get into a fight with a female feminist.

The study and understanding of the X and Y variations of chromosomes needs to be more honest and exposed in a relative down-to-earth way, coupled with a good historical story of predator animals and non-predator animals; then, couple those two things with exposing, in a relative way, the story of the two bacterias that raped a nuclei out of itself -- that's the real story. Then, have a nice desert exposing a deeper evolutionary truth about invagination and how that begged on for the creation of a penis story. Finish with nice Sauternes for everybody and tell the TRUTH on this Earth for the first time in it's ridiculous history by telling women that even to this day they have spermoidal cells in their bone marrow just waiting to get BACK the hormones they used to have to impregnate their own selves ... So that, FINALLY, we no longer need men!!!!!!!!!! The first man who castrates himself, I'll marry, and I'm not kidding. But no, I'll need more than that. Whoever answers this question can start the new Universe I want to go to. Ready?
Q: Why we're there two Venuses, but the one on land was really thousands upon thousands, and the ONE in the Ocean still trapped in the center of the gang-rapping Giant Clam is the MOST VICTIMIZED, yet REAL GOD, but is too busy screaming for help .... still, and unheard the most? Why are there two of them?
    And lastly, just for fun.
Q: Why are there only three Cyclopes? Is it because they were really The Three Blind Men who ran off with the Farmer's Wife? 😬
P.S. I can't wait to see what the James Web telescope finds out! 😁 (Oh lookie, there they are now, in satellite loaded with porn videos of themselves with humans through telescopic imaging.) 😳

Of course, this documentary should mention that they are many male victims, but I'd be very surprised if it does.

    • @melissagraham6143
      @melissagraham6143 2 года назад +32

It doesn't. This isn't because male victims don't exist though, it's more because rape against females and rape against males tend to be quite different stories, and lumping the two together can cause those differences to be lost. It makes sense that as a woman, Zara McDermott is sharing the female perspective.
The important thing is that both sides are valid. We don't want to invalidate female rape experiences by reminding them that men are raped too, and we don't want to invalidate male rape experiences by telling them that they are in the minority so they don't matter.

    • @donglegs

While putting light on that is equally important, that’s a very different beast and not so relevant in relation to rape culture. We’re talking about societal attitudes that lead to people becoming victims.

Sadly this whole documentary demonised men from the start. It touched so many subjects:beauty standards, porn, rape, etc but always female beauty standards, porn made to be viewed primary by straight men,and rape committed by men too. You can tell from her attitude and her outward composure that it was harsher and more unforgiving towards the boys and gentler with the girls, to the point that the boys were reluctant to enter the room because they were afraid their voices would be twisted.
