That is super cool. I appreciate model helicopters more than a lot of people because im old enough to remember a time when they were considered to be an impossibility.
Great job! Love the start up. These are loud mothers. I can hear one coming from far away. What's even better, is three flying in formation. Now that gets my neighborhoods attention! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah fun fact ... i was the guy behind the camera i know the owner 😁 I would love to make some video's of his collection it will blow your mind how much he has 🙄
That is badass! I'm a huge chinook fan, and the wife worked at Boeing four 33 years, so I've got lots of chinook merch around the house. Wish I had this bad boy, though!
Excellent flying skills-impressively smooth, nice and easy does it, just like driving in a Minnesota blizzard. I saw a different video of this same model I believe and it did not have a happy ending.
Rudo lf if I was his neighbour, I’d be fine with him flying this beauty at midnight when I’m about to fall asleep. I’d probably get up get dressed and go outside to watch!
I live next door to a guy that rides a Harley. Every day he throttles that thing up in his driveway,,, Basturd! I'd rather enjoy seeing this any day,,, but then I'm heavily into RC.
Hello, awesome machine. The classic version offered by Vario is powered by an electric motor. Can I ask how difficult was the conversion to turbine drive?
I can't quite tell which rotor heads you are using. If these do not have damped flapping feathering spindles, you will want to change them out for a rotor head that has them. Otherwise, the feathering spindles may fracture. I'm using SAB rotor heads on my Chinook and they are working well. The original rotor heads I used had rigid spindles and failed in flight after a few hours of use. If you visit my channel, you'll see videos of my Chinook. Like yours, it's custom built mechanics using a Vario fuselage.
Looks like the Vario rotor hubs to me. The head unit pivots on a ball like a swashplate does so blade flapping centers around that point and not on the individual blade grips. I have no personal experience. I've heard good and bad things about the design. Looks like it flies Ok though.
@@Intrepid175a The new Vario rotor heads specifically designed for the Chinook pivot as you describe, but these are not those rotor heads. The new Chinook specific rotor head has a very different rotor yoke. It's too bad the original poster of the video hasn't responded. He will be sorry when those heads are destroyed. It happened to me.
@@JoelsPennyArcade - Thanks Joel. When you say the heads are destroyed, are you talking about the versions shown in this video? I've heard of problems with the rotor hubs I was referring to, that's why I've said I've heard good and bad things about them. I saw one video where the guy swapped the Vario hubs for something like what Goblin sells.
@@Intrepid175a I can't see the rotor heads with perfect clarity, but it does appear that they are the standard Vario 3-blade rotor head with single bolt grips. That rotor head has spindles that are molded into the rotor yoke. And it is that version that I originally had, and had an in-flight failure. So yes, it appears that these rotor heads are the same ones I was using. I am using the SAB heads that are used on the Goblin now. They are quite durable and offer individually damped spindles which will avoid the fracturing problem that I encountered. I've seen the new Vario head in action on multiple occasions and it operates very well, but I don't have any data on its longevity though. At any rate, my intention with the post was to inform the owner so that he could avoid disaster. I hope he reads the comments before he gets too much flight time on it so that he can change out those parts before it is too late. The Vario website even warns that only the Chinook head can be used on their model because they are aware of the problem when using the standard head in a tandem. They added that note after mine was destroyed.
Brilliant sound to it...some points you can hear real chop chop of blades....and even sounds like a real Bell jetranger at around 6:20 ish...awesome bit of kit
my intire life, since a little kid ive always been fascinated with helicopters, the chinook in particular.. ive always wondered how the 2 props dont hit each other.. like dont they have to tilt to move forward and backward? i mean i guess you can get the same effect from speeding up one of the props but that doesnt seem fast enough for the heli to be nimble.. such an awesome design.
They tilt on a fixed axis. To explain the rotor disc doesn't move much, but the angle of the airfoil (blades) change pitch to grab more lift (up and down) the helicopter can tilt forward by biting into air in front with the back rotor, and lesser so with the front but it creates a tilt that can propel is forward. Its amazingly designed aircraft. I flew many hours in one in the army. I'm not am 3cpert but thos is a simple version of how they dont collide Expert engineering and some avation physics.
@@TheKittyClink oh that is awesome.. i thought the concept of changing the pitch of the blades was created for the "3d flight" competition rc helis.. thats a real thing in real helis??? thats so amazing.. i love it!!! And thank you for your service! I'm extremely pro-military.
That thing is so realistic :*: its too bad nobody's figured out how to duplicate the sound of the Chinook thumping yet. Nothing like that twin thunder sound ☻
@@bdogjr7779 That thumping you mention is purely down to sheer bloody size of the rotor blades. Only way to duplicate that would be to have a mahoosive speaker in the thing playing an audio track of the actual chinook in action.
Beautiful model! But it's not obvious from this video how you vary lift and direction. Maybe do a couple of closeups of the control levers and mechanisms?
@@tonywright8294 Of course I do. What I don't see is how the linkages and controls are implemented in this model. Control mechanisms in a model are going to be different in a model as compared to the real thing. Get it now?
Some day there will be augminted video games with RC planes, choppers tanks, on a designed battle field. Where the troops/players can be anywhere in the world playing like call of duty, but if you are on site it person, you can watch it play out with your headset. It would be sick!

I was assigned to a CH47 unit in West Germany 1972-1975. A real work horse and your model is just as good!!!!!!! Well done.
Beautiful aircraft from an ex ARMY Chinook mechanic, back in Germany in the 80s , CH-47D ! Thanks
Hey Thanks again brother never get tired of watching this video great machine and flying
Well done! Thanks !👍👍

The most beautyful Chinook Flightmodel i have seen . Thanks from German
Absolutely beautiful, great job man!
Amazing how real it looks and sounds. Very cool!
The sound was my thought as well. Above the trees that could pass as full size.🦅🇺🇸😑
Darth Stanley 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The coolest helicopter of all time!

I would love to make some video's of his collection it will blow your mind how much he has 🙄
Sounds spectacular!! Well flown too!
Chupaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
This is the ultimate RC Helicopter video!
When the video is played back at half speed it's looks indistinguishable from the real thing. Excellent!
Nothing short of stunning. Fantastic work.
That bad boy looks and sounds so real! Used to jump out of them in the 80’s
Hope you doing well
Did the downwash shoot you away from the chopper?
Tandem helicopters are pretty well the hardest thing to fly of any rc aircraft. My jaw just drops to the floor how well you control it...!
That is badass! I'm a huge chinook fan, and the wife worked at Boeing four 33 years, so I've got lots of chinook merch around the house. Wish I had this bad boy, though!
im currently a chinook guy working civilian aspect of it. prior military. What stuff does she have?!

Me gusta mucho tus vídeos
thats a beautiful machine you have made and mastered.... wow.
Реальный звук реактивных двигателей ! Настоящая игрушка !
Where do people find these? Because I love ch47’s and I would love to buy one!
This was my aircraft when I was on active duty. Amazing! !
Excellent - very impressive.
Beautiful ! Time to build a pair of balsa Humvee's to tandem sling around. I love this, nice, very nice !!!
Balsa might be too light, maybe diecast to simulate a heavy lift... might be too heavy though. Good idea man!
Thanks for the comment, are still working on fine tuning of the elevator function soon a movie with a realistic background ..... thanks

Do you sell chinook turbine?
How much does that one costs??
Where can I get one I've searched all over the internet please email me a travisgiesen1974@gmail

The most coolest toy I've ever seen!!!
Not a toy that's about 10k right there and can seriously hurt someone ...
Looks and sounds like the real think. Wow!
Nice, very nice, Enjoyed the video. I got to ride in one in 2016 at an air show,The best $100 ride.
You need to do a heavy lift with a rc tank, that would be cool.
Hell yes!!!!!!
Amazing model, well done
Hi there, do you by chance have a build guide for this? I'm a mechanic for Chinooks, and an RC hobbyist. I'd love to try a build like this on my own.
Good detail! Sounds so realistic.
All it needs now is a group of GI Joe special forces action figures on board and it’s good to go! 🇺🇸
First thing I thought when I saw this video. GI Joe's hanging 😄
Fantastic has this got proper turbines?
I live CH-47 RC helicopter. Very nice.
That's super cool!
This was my first time ever seeing a Chinook Rc or otherwise. Such a brilliant machine. How much fly time does this model have??
Depends on the fuel consumption
