A straight vertical dice tower. Next up: a mousetrap-style pyramid. Built in support, and some visual entertainment as dice roll in and out of the structure. And flippers for diverging paths.
As an ex construction worker, those scissor lifts are straight terrifying at full extent your first couple of times, so I'm impressed with the dedication here :)
Not gonna lie, I thought you meant a tower made of dice for a good few minutes there, and I was really confused how the finished product represented a tower of dice.
Damn, now I really miss my K'nex. I spent so much time building with them when I was 10 or so but all I really remember is how much my fingers hurt putting pieces together.
Disclaimer: I loved this video, and this concept. I am writing this as constructive criticism coming from an engineering perspective. While my preferred medium is Legos, I am familiar with K'Nex. I offer these thoughts only for your consideration, and not as an attack on you, your team, or your design. In other words, I want to offer these ideas in the hope to help make a better version if you make another tower like this in the future and want to keep it. I suggest using guy-ropes to stabilize it. At least 4, preferably a set of 4 every 10 feet. Also, you might want to reinforce the lower 1/4 of the tower as the weight and strain on those pieces would cause stress fractures eventually, and this would cause the whole tower to wobble more. Additional ropes at every 2' for the first 10' could help. The base of the structure could also be enlarged to distribute the weight more, making the tower more stable and durable. I'm curious as to whether there were shelves, ramps, or other impediments on the interior of the tower, or were the dice free-falling? By installing slanted shelves to break up the free-fall and reduce the die's speed, you would have a safer and more secure drop, but it would be slower. Every 3-4 feet would probably be enough. The more you have, the more the die will slow down, but the less impact the die suffers overall. For the sake of the dice, avoid longer unrestrained falls where acceleration due to gravity is allowed to build. Additionally, I would suggest a funnel or similar structure near the bottom that directs the die onto the ramp and does not allow it to escape the tract, thus preventing the issue shown with dice occasionally getting stuck at the end. As for the chain issue, I am concerned that the bucket and arm are too heavy for that chain. If there were a cup, funnel or other structure at the top to catch the die as it rolls out of the bucket, you could shorten the arm and make the bucket smaller. Also, make sure that the hinge rotates smoothly for collapse.
This is absolutely amazing, where were you when we were building it haha!! Also yes there were shelves/ ramps. You can see them when the dice tower breaks or watching the dice go down the tower :)

I like the new ending theme song. You should also probably set up a tarp or something on the ground for stuff like this so if it did fall early it would be easy to shake it all to the center and not lose anything.

LPT - That writing on the tap measure "+3 1/4" means you can just hold the end of the tape measure against the ground , take the measure where the tape goes in and add 3 1/4 inches.
They will forever be finding k'nex pieces in that lot. You have created an eternity of wonder and excitement for little kids who walk through this parking lot.
As a construction worker, this was very entertaining to watch someone use the scissor lift and the while still forget to grab something before going all the way up.
How about a one shot D&D quest where the dice automatically rolls every 5 minutes, and whatever the active person is doing is based on that roll. That would be hilariously funny to watch!

"it's really tall up here." Man's not even at half extension. Plus he doesn't have the senior workman swinging the entire lift back and worth to 'cure' him of him fear of heights.
I totally empathize with not to destroy the tower. My sister and I once made an amusement park out of k'nex that included a Ferris wheel, swing ride, and bumper cars. All with seats that could fit the Kelly dolls we had. When I had to tear it down still saddens me to this day.
That pole was more support than most people's family. Held the tower more than 75% together even during it's hardest trial and greatest fall. Try to be as good as a pole for those you love.
We were so obsessed with building the tower, we never asked ourselves if we SHOULD build the tower. I'd love to know the max velocity of a metal D20 at that height
