Hrm, I can definitely see the appeal of a game that is less intimidating and more accessible to someone who doesn't really know much about these games to be honest, and the cute girls and storytelling in the game might provide enough incentive to learn the genre before moving on to slay the spire. It has an audience I think. I don't think it's trying to pull people away from slay the spire honestly.
